*Directly after Marinette's audition backstage*
"You did great." Carly squealed as she hugged Marinette.
"I'm not so sure." Marinette said as she looked at herself in the mirror and began to take her makeup off.
"Babe, you did fantastic. Even Ms. Helions said that you did great and she is one of the toughest teachers at school." Ben said as he hugged her.
"I can't wait to see what they say about you." Sam chimed in.
"Ms. Marinette?" A voice came from behind Ben. They all turned around to see a man in a gray turtleneck and dark jeans.
"Yeah, that's me." Marinette said as she bashfully stepped forward.
"I'm Mr. Danforth and I just want to say that you did fantastic. The other teachers and I would be absolutely delighted to have you come to our school on a full scholarship." Mr. Danforth said. Marinette looked over to her friends in complete shock. They all shook their heads, telling her to do it.
"I accept." She said with a smile on her face. Mr. Danforth held his hand out for her to shake, which she did.
"I look forward to see what you do next." He said as he away. Marinette turned around and let out the breath she was holding.
"You did it!" Carly basically screamed as she tackled Marinette in a hug. Marinette laughed from the floor as the two hugged. Ben helped Marinette up while Sam helped Carly up.
"I'm so proud of you, my baby sister." Sam said as he hugged her and ruffled her hair. Normally she would fuss over it, but not today. To her, nothing could ruin her day.
"Marinette?" A voice said timidly from the curtain. Everyone turned to see Adrien standing there.
"What do you want?" Carly asked angrily as she protectively stepped in front of Marinette.
"Carly. Chill." Marinette put her hand on Carly's shoulder. "What do you want?"
"I just wanted to say that you were amazing and I know you'll be great at this school. Even though we'll all miss you, we accept that you need to do things that are good for you. I'm sorry for what happened and we all really wish you would stay but if this is what you want, we support you. Even though we haven't been acting like it lately…we are still your friends. So good luck." With that, Adrien went back to where Alya, Lila, and Nino were standing and started talking to them.
"Wow. Never thought he had it in him to apologize." Sam said. Everyone looked at Marinette to see what her reaction. She had a blank look on her face that was completely unreadable.
"You good?" Carly asked as she put a hand on her back.
"I never thought he would lie to me." That was all Marinette said before she turned around and started walking toward the rack with her jacket on it. Her voice sounded dark, almost dead.
"What are you talking about? He apologized." Ben asked as he came up behind her.
"Whenever Adrien has felt bad or guilty about something, he would always rub the back of his neck. Always. Did any of you see him do that while he was apologizing?" Marinette asked.
"No. He actually stood still. He was just telling you that so you would forgive him." Ben said as he put an arm around her shoulders.
"Or he was trying to make her feel guilty about leaving and try to make her stay and have her be his little puppet so that way she would never be free and would have to continue to live in this city and go to school with all these demon children and..." Dylan got cut off by Sam running his hand over his neck, signaling for Dylan to stop. As they all walked out onto the stage, then down the stairs that were attached to it everyone just stood still for a moment and turned to look at Marinette before she finally spoke.
"Well, it ain't gonna work because I'm ready to say goodbye to the current me and say hello to the new me." Marinette said. Everyone cheered and surrounded her in a big hug.
"Why don't you spend the night with us at the hotel. It'll be just like old times." Allison suggested with a shrug.
"I might be into that…" Marinette smirked.
"You might be into that?" Ben asked raising an eyebrow at her, making her laugh.
"Of course, you maroons. I need to breakout of my current skin and get use to my other skin." Marinette laughed.
"The team is back bitches." Dylan screamed at the top of his lungs. Gaining the attention of some people standing nearby, talking with other performers. "Let's go." Carly and Allison linked arms with Marinette and started to walk away. On the other side of the courtyard, Alya, Lila, Adrien and Nino were talking.
"Do you think it worked?" Alya asked.
"It took every ounce of my willpower to keep my hand away from my neck." Adrien confessed. "I hope it did work."
"Why did you guys do this? It's not like she's important." Lila said filing her nails.
"She is one of the most important people in the world to us and frankly I have to ask, why are you standing here with us? You know none of us like you." Nino said.
"They say if you love something, set it free. If it comes back, then it's meant to be." Adrien said before he walked off to the park.
