Chapter 4
Arthur dragged Merlin along telling him she would be fine and they got two horses ready and some food and drink and headed off to the woods for a relaxing ride...Arthur taking them to a nice clearing.
"Merlin...as court warlock you will be in a higher standard then the knights...as a Dragonlord you'd be right next to Gwen when it comes to leadership..." Merlin looked at Arthur... "OK...and so?" Arthur scoffed only Merlin wouldn't think much of having that kind of power of the kingdom... "well it would practically make Lillie a Lady of the court too and that's good since I'll treat her like a princess anyhow...but also Merlin I'm saying I trust you to use your power to help my people in any way you see fit even when I or Gwen aren't around." Arthur said smiling. Merlin blinked and blushed... "o-oh, well um thank you Arthur...your trust means the world to me...and I love that you love Lillie so much." Arthur nodded pleased and they continued riding enjoying the scenery go by and the company of another.
They soon settled down giving the horses water and time to graze and ate and drank the food they brought. Soon they settled in nicely and Arthur gathered up his courage. "Merlin...you have been the greatest thing in my life..." He saw Merlin blush and stutter out that so was Arthur... "No, I mean it Merlin...you are my best friend and greatest companion and I don't know how I lived my life without you before I met you. You have kept such dark secrets from me over the years, but only to keep me safe...you sacrificed your own happiness for mine and you have been the most loyal to me from day one even if I haven't deserved it." Merlin went to go protest and Arthur shushed him softly. "No Merlin do not make excuses for me, I know that I have not been perfect and if I had listened to you most of the time the last 7 years we'd be better off now and we wouldn't of lost Morgana or Mordred." he paused and looked at Merlin's face red with a blush and still lovely... "Merlin, I know I have made many mistakes...but will you let me spend the rest of my life making up for them...I love you Merlin...I think I have since the very first day you called me a dolluphead." Arthur smiled and took Merlin's hand... feeling the small tremble from the Warlock.
Merlin could hardly breathe...Arthur just said he loved him...Arthur was asking for forgiveness...Arthur loved him...him skinny clumsy Merlin...he wanted to cry he felt his heart heal in a way he did not know it was broken...he supposed he had always loved Arthur...he just never thought...he looked at how serious Arthur was..how much he read from Arthur's posture...he gulped his hand was being held in Arthur's strong hold...he felt his magic tingle in his body accepting Arthur more then even before and Merlin knew that this was exactly what he wanted...with a deep breath Merlin squeezed Arthur's hand in return and looked at his king dead in the eye. "I...I love you too Arthur...I think I always have...you are my other half..." Merlin said softly.
Arthur felt like his body was on fire. Merlin loved him back...unselfish and beautiful and strong...he smiled and laughed and with a pull he tugged Merlin to him and crashed his lips to the warlocks...Merlin and him kissed and it felt like the air around them exploded Arthur grasped onto his Warlock and continued to kiss him until the need for air made itself known.
Merlin felt himself be tugged towards Arthur and was about to ask what when he felt lips on his in an intense kiss that he melted into...his magic released like crazy from the pleasurable feeling of kissing Arthur for the first time and Merlin held his king in return and let his magic out freely enjoying the moment with his love.
When the two broke apart Arthur held Merlin in a hug and they held another softly looking around them Arthur noticed that the greenery around them seemed to shine and the trees looked fuller the flowers were more prominent and butterflies were everywhere... "Merlin did your magic do this." Merlin nodded blushing... "my magic can go a bit crazy when I let it loose..though it felt right I was feeling too much pleasure and had to release it somehow..." Arthur nearly lost his mind if just kissing Merlin caused this much...then he couldn't wait to have Merlin completely... "That's very good to know..." Merlin blushed realizing what he said and soon the two laughed and settled into another enjoying the sun set and each others warmth.
Soon it grew a bit Darker and Merlin wished to be home to tuck in Little bit and Arthur agreed.
Little bit was snuggled up on Percival's strong shoulders as her curious eyes scanned the towns houses and shops as they walked among the people of Camelot. She had never seen so many different ways of life before. "uncle Percy...how big is Camelot?" Little bit looked around in wonder and everyone smiled. "quite large it's one of the biggest lands around little bit." Percival said holding her legs close. They came across a bakery and Lillie asked for something sweet and the lady smiled softly and handed her a honey bun and The Queen gave the lady more money then needed smiling softly explaining she had seen the broken sign and that should help. The lady smiled kindly and thanked the queen blessed to have such a kind hearted and open kingdom. "yummy! Dis is the best bun I've ever had!" Lillie's excited voice rang out and they laughed and Lillie asked to check out more of the town and they carried on.
