Chapter 4 of Lost Sister
Iro whined at Inuyuka. They were used to running and jumping through the woods, but now they had to keep a human pace. Inuyuka looked down at her friend with a sympathetic smile. She too wanted to run but for the sake of the human companions her brother had, she walked calmly. However, after a few hours she could no longer take the snail's pace.
"How fast can you all go?" She asked, turning and walking backwards looking at the group.
"Kirira is just as fast as me." Said Inuyasha with a curious expression.
"Well you can track me." Inuyuka sighed. "I'm not used to moving this slow, neither is Iro."
Sango raised an eyebrow, her eyes flashing at the underlying challenge.
"Think we can keep up?" She asked.
Inuyuka saw the flash and was really liking this Demon Slayer girl as Sango nodded to Kirira. The Neko jumped from the Slayer's arms and transformed into her giant, large fanged form. Iro ducked behind Inuyuka, who stopped in shock, from fear and habit of being around larger demons.
Kirira walked toward Inuyuka, who gently ran her claws through the large Neko's soft fur. She then bent down and purred in a calming fashion coaxing Iro out from behind her companion's legs. The small pup touched noses with the big cat and yipped happily and stood on her hind legs with her bone snack still in her mouth and tail wagging happily.
Inuyuka took the bone and laced it through her make-shift backpack.
"Ready?" She asked, her muscles itching for the exercise and challenge.
Kirira roared and Sango, Miroku and Shippo leapt onto her back. Meanwhile Inuyasha crouched down and Kagome hopped onto his back and wrapping her arms tightly around his neck as her gripped her legs. Inuyasha smirked at his sister as if he knew he could beat her.
We'll see about that. She thought as she turned around.
"Let's go then." Inuyuka stated before letting loose a joyous howl of laughter and took off with Iro at her heels.
Inuyasha and Kirira took off after her and kept up decently, even running along side her for a bit. That was until Inuyuka suddenly dropped down to all fours and pulled ahead of them.
"Inuyasha," Kagome called loudly over the sound of the wind in her ears. "Can you run like that with me on your back?"
"Feh, yeah. I just choose not to so you don't freak out."
"Well go ahead then, lets make this fun!" She shouted laughing. Inuyasha's face split into a huge cocky smile at his mate's request.
"Okay then wench, you asked for it." And with that he dropped to all fours also and ran. His body gaining ground as he stretched his body fully with each stride. He was relishing the fact that he could run like this and with Kagome laughing in delight, holding him tightly.
A happy howl burst from his chest as he started to catch up with his sister, Kirira just behind him. Until he found out that she was holding back.
Once Inuyuka saw that the group was gaining on her she whistled to get Iro's full attention who nodded and jumped to her back, sliding under the backpack and digging claw and fang into her top. Inuyuka then took off even faster then should have been possible if not for her training her body to always go past her limits.
Kagome, Sango, Miroku and Shippo all stared open mouthed while their respected steeds admitted defeat, sweat-dropping at the fact they were beaten.
"Damn..."
"It's okay Inuyasha, you're just too domesticated to compete that's all." Shippo said cheerily after recovering from the shock. He always did love to run a little salt into Inuyasha's wounded pride. Kagome giggled and squeezed Inuyasha's chest to comfort him. They continued to chase Inuyuka who had slowed down after she realized that they had given up trying to beat her. All the while Inuyasha was thinking of ways to torture the kit later for the "domesticated" remark.
