Me: Shhhh!
Shrouded in the shadows, Anakin observed the Separatists with a keen interest. Several mining droids were clearing rubble and debris while battle droids of all sorts patrolled the area. The Jedi noted at least two legions of clankers roaming in the dark canyon, surrounding the Invisible Hand. "What is Grievous up to?" wondered Skywalker. Using the environment and the Force to obscure his presence, Anakin crept closer to the evacuation site. B1s, B2s, droidekas, spider droids cluttered the area, guarding the site with a keen scanner. Fortunately, there were several cliffs and cracks for a human to slip into easily. As he approached the mining droids, Anakin noticed a hologram of General Grievous discussing with a droid. Anger was evident in his cyborg body. Eager to know the general's schemes, Anakin crept closer, staying in the shadows. As he neared the Separatist, Anakin heard the conversation.
"Blasted droids! What is taking so long with the drilling?" roared Grievous.
"But sir," said a B1 droid, "There's a metal item blocking us from the energy source. It will take some ti..."
The blue image of Grievous flickered with rage. "Is it impenetrable?" snapped the Kaleesh.
"Um...no?"
"Then blast it out, now!"
"Roger, roger." The B1 droid turned to his comrade. "You heard the general. Bring in the explosives."
As the droids readied the bombs, Grievous muttered to himself, "If Dooku's Sith holocron is to be trusted, this new energy should shift the tide in this war. Permanently."
Anakin blinked. "Sith holocron?" he wondered, "What sort of Sith weapon could shift the war in the Separatists' favor permanently?"
Suddenly, an earthquake rumbled throughout the canyon. Skywalker felt as if the Force had swelled in the air. What in the galaxy... Before he could comprehend the strange sensation, a compulsion whammed into him, propelling him into the wall. The impact shifted rocks and silt into the canyon. The Hand shuddered and groaned as debris tumbled upon it. Rubble fell from the cliffs, threatening to release all it contents. Gasping on the ground, Anakin wondered what sort of bomb the droids used.
"You idiots!" spat the static image of the general, "You nearly buried the Invisible Hand in this blasted crevice!"
"But, sir!" spattered the droid, "We didn't even have the explosives in place yet."
"Then what happened?"
"Well, um," stuttered the B1. Desperately seeking refuge from Grievous' wrath, he pointed to his fellow droid, "Hey, you! Weren't you in charge of the explosives?"
"Ah, yes?" replied the other B1.
"So, what happened?" demanded the former.
"Um, the power surge came from the North," stated his comrade, "So, Mining Group Theta must have struck something."
Clenching his claws in fury, General Grievous snapped, "Just extract the kriffing energy. I will deal with Theta."
Once the hologram of Grievous faded away, one of the B1 said, "Boy, is Team Theta gonna get it."
"Shut up, and get back to work," stated the other, "General Grievous will want all this Energy X transferred on the Invisible Hand or we're gonna get it."
"Roger, roger."
While the droids returned to their duties, Anakin pondered upon what he learned. The Separatists discovered a new energy source which would, undoubtedly, be used to make weapons of mass destruction. Then, there was that energy surge from the North. Due to the disturbance he felt, the Jedi was sure that the explosion was connected to the Force somehow. Eager to investigate, Skywalker slipped into the shadows and started his journey to the location of Theta.
"Where is he?" muttered Obi-Wan. Scanners on, Kenobi searched the planet's surface for any sign of Anakin's ship. Flying by his side, Rex said, "What was that, sir?"
With a shake of his head, the Jedi Master replied, "Nothing. Any data on Anakin's whereabouts?"
"Actually, yes," said the Captain, "It seems that I'm picking up his signal two clicks east."
"Well, let's get going then."
"Roger that sir."
As the two flew on, a canyon opened beneath. The jagged sides sliced into the earth, resembling a krayt dragon's victim. It's pale slate sides where crumbled and worn with centuries of time upon them. Tickling on the bottom was a thin line of green toxic waste, weaving through the rocks like a snake.
Skimming the edge of the canyon, Obi-Wan spotted Skywalker's yellow Starfigher with the blue astromech droid nearby. "Found him, Rex," he said as he dived into the crevices with the clone close behind. Once he landed, Artoo started to bleep and whir frantically to the Jedi. Placing a respirator in his mouth, Kenobi crawled out of his cod-pit and listened to R2-D2's ramble. Once he understood what the droid was saying, annoyance appeared on his face. "Anakin set out to investigate a half an hour ago? Doesn't he know that the fumes from this planet's surface can poison him within two hours?" The droid beeped at the Jedi in defiance. Lifting his hands up, Obi-wan stepped back. "Alright, alright, Artoo! I didn't know that you already warned him." Once the astromech calmed down, Kenobi inquired, "Which way did he go?"
Once R2-D2 beeped the coordinates, the Jedi Master started to devise a plan. "Rex, I'm going to find Anakin on foot while you cover us by air."
"Right sir!" Shaking his head, Rex sighed. "Knowing Anakin, he probably is taking all the fun."
Merging into the dark, Kenobi replied, "Let's hope not."
Perched on a cliff, Anakin observed Team Theta with a keen eye. From the looks of the damage, it seemed that the current emerged from within the mine. Droids worked frantically to remove the debris, eager to not displease their brooding general. From the clankers' chatting, it would seem that the miners stumbled upon a large ancient relic. Waiting for the Separtists for retrieve the item from the tunnels, Anakin gritted his teeth as Grievous approached. Though he was a few meters away, Skywalker felt the former Kaleesh warrior's presence. And anger. Using the Force to amplify his hearing, Anakin listened to the conversation.
"What is the meaning of all this?" boomed the general.
Shuttering under his master's wrath, the B1 replied, "Sir, the miners came across some sort of pyramid-shaped object. Upon closer inspection, it revealed ancient lettering. Before they could relay their discovery, the object release a powerful pulse, causing cave-ins and damaging equipment." As a weak attempt to impress the cyborg, he added, "I sent down a team of droid to relocate the item here."
Half-interested in the droid's efforts, Grievous replied, "Excellent. Soon, we will be able to amend this dilemma."
Anakin immediately peeked up at the word pyramid. Did the Separtists discover a new Sith holocron?
Immersed in his thoughts and dulled by the toxins, he did not sense the clumsy B1 droid walking on his ledge till it was too late.
"Hey!" it shouted, "You're not suppose to be-Aaah!"
With a twist of his wrist, he Force pulled the droid's head off. However, the machine's cry echoed in the canyon. Before he had time to hide, clankers surrounded him. Interested in the events, Grievous started towards them. "What is it? Is it a Jedi?"
"Oh yes indeed," a familiar voice replied.
Emerging from a dark crevice behind, Obi-wan ignited his lightsaber. Hatred filled the general's yellow eyes. "Kenobi," he hissed, "We meet again."
Removing his three stolen lightsabers from his cloak, Grievous advanced towards the Jedi Master, forgetting the other. Taking advantage of the distraction, Anakin lit his saber with a loud hiss. Before the nearby clankers could react, he slashed though them. Once the other troops started firing upon him, he ricochet the lasers back to them with ease. Glancing towards Obi-wan, Anakin saw that he and Grievous were desperately attempting to defeat each other. Eager to help his friend, he started towards the fight. Obi-wan, sensing his companion's movements, shouted, "No, Anakin! You must find what is in the mine and stop the Separtists."
Frustrated with Kenobi's logic, young Skywalker rushed towards the entrance of the tunnel. Once he arrived, he nearly stumbled into the miner droids dragging a large pyramid to the surface. Shocked by the Jedi's presence, one droid sobbed, "Please don't slice me! I've just been assembled!"
Before he could behead the pathetic clanker, the strange artifact openned, releasing a white, blinding light. Covering his eyes, Anakin moaned in pain as his Force senses were being hammered by the energy. The relic was spitting out pure Force. But how was that possible? How could a mere thing have control over the Force? Before Anakin could decipher it, a high-pitched ring burst into the air, screeching across the sky. Then, there was darkness...
As you can probably tell by the ending of this chapter, I really didn't look over it. It's late here, and I just want to get it out for you readers. So, I hope you forgive me while I sleep for three months *collapses to the floor*
