Beast Boy~
I walked into the common room, quietly closing the door behind me. It was pitch black, which meant no one had waited up for me. I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I guess interrogation would have to wait until morning. Opening the refrigerator, I grabbed a bottle of water and made my way towards the corridors.
"Look who finally showed up." I froze mid step. Shit. The lights turned on, and I saw Cyborg sitting on the couch, not even turning to meet my gaze. Honestly, how did I not see him? It wasn't like he didn't glow up. Sighing, I put my water on the counter and hopped over the couch, landing a few feet away from Cy.
"what's up?" I said, attempting to make light of things. Somehow I knew I had disappointed him somehow. He shrugged.
"I wouldn't know," He finally turned toward me, " Where have you been,? You left this morning and showed back up in the middle of the night with out telling anyone. We were about to set up a search party for you!" I flinched. He was pissed, and I knew that one wrong word could set him off.
"I had to meet someone, It was important." I could tell my response didn't put him at ease. He stood up and began pacing back and forth in front of me. I sat back and crossed my arms, this could be awhile.
"I just- you've been acting strange for the past couple of weeks. I mean, you hardly try to get to Robin anymore. Im just worried I guess," he said shaking his head. "Look, I know your not a kid anymore but you're still my little brother and I don't want to wake up one day and find out that you're gone. Just... Try to let one of us know that youre going out, ok?"
Had I really gave off the impression that I was leaving, that I was never coming back. I guess I never thought about what the rest of the team would feel like with the whole sneaking off with RobiN thing. I didn't realize how much I was hurting them, especially Cyborg. And the fact that he wasn't trying to find out who I was with was only making me feel more guilty. I nodded.
"Im sorry, I'll tell you from now on," I said, standing up and offering a small smile. " Hey, I never made it up to you for ditching you that day. How about tomorrow we spend the whole day together, just you and me. Just like old times." I watched him scan me, as if checkin to see if I was lying or not. Seeing how I wasn't, I watch his own smile spread across his face.
"Yeah... I would like that." I nodded, offering another smile before turning on my heels. I grabbed the water bottle off the counter, and went to the sliding doors that lead to the corridors. Just as I was about to walk out, I turned to Cyborg one last time.
"It'll all work out in the end, trust me."
"Dude, you're so going down!" I yelled as my fingers mashed on the buttons furiously.
"In your dreams, grass stain!" We were on our final lap, neck and neck, but I was confident I was going to win. There was no way in Hell I was letting Cyborg beat me again. The finish line was now visible, and I was clearly in the lead. Victory is mine.
"Any last words before I cream you, med head." I said, smirking.
"Yeah, turbo." Just as I we were about to cross the finish line, Cyborgs car sped pass me, crossing first to the finish line. " Booyah!" he shouted, throwing his fist in the air. The crowd around us began whooping and cheering Cyborgs named, while I looked at the screen with stunned silence. No. Freaking. Way. Cyborg bent down to my level, his breath rattled through my ear. " looks like you owe me lunch,"
"That's so not fair, you cheated!" I yelled childishly.
"Don't hate the player, hate the game," he said, wearing a sly smirk that grew into a full blown grin. " And I would like a monster bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon, and chile cheese fries on the side." I felt a shiver go down my spine.
"you make me sick, you know that?" He just laughed. We pushed through the crowd and took a seat at the back of the arcade. I took the menu and began scanning over it. As much as I hated paying for a cheaters lunch, I did miss this. The both of us just hanging out and having a good time. It's been a while since we have.
"Dude, I don't even think they have that here," I said, flipping through the pages again.
"then i guess I'll have the regular." he shrugged. I felt another shiver course down my spine. Meat lovers supreme pizza was probably worst than eating a bacon cheeseburger. I mean, who needs that much meat on a pizza? And the fact that he eats the whole dish in one siting only makes it worst.
"Whatever. I'll be in line if you need me." I said standing up. He stood up also.
"And I'm going to go reclaim my title on smash bros, no way am I letting some noob bump me down to second place," I chuckled, wishing him good luck. I went to the cashier and ordered our food. Just as I was about to turn around, I ran into someone. I would have fallen down it wasn't for the fact that the person caught me.
"Thanks," I said, brushing myself off. "Sorry, I wasn't- Robin err..Dick?" He always finds a new way to sneak up on me, doesn't he? He shushes me, grabbing my wrist and pulling me out into the hallway. Once he made sure it was clear, he turned towards me, a questioning look on his face.
"What are you doing here?"
"Im hanging out with Cy, why are you here?" I asked, confused.
"I've been looking everywhere for you, I need you to come with me." He said, pulling me towards the back door. I quickly pulled back, earning a what the Hell look.
"I can't, I promised Cy I'd spend the day with him." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"and you wonder why you're a brat," he groaned. " Look, it's important and I need you there with me."
"What's so important?"
"If I tell you, you won't want to come."
"I'm not going to come until you tell me." We glared at one another, neither of us breaking contact. Finally, Robin sighed, running his hand though his hair.
"Fine, but you're not going to like it."
I walked over to Cyborg, a weight of guilt hanging off my shoulders. I sat down across from him, setting down the tray if food on the table. He eagerly rubbed his hands together, before taking a slice of his pizza. It only took him a couple of chews before he noticed I wasn't eating.
"Are you not hungry?" He asked, though it was hardly understandable. I laughed a little, shaking my head.
"Listen Cy, I know I promised this whole day to you but-"
"Save it," he said, swallowing. he had an obvious frown on his face. " If you're ditching me again just say it." I winced.
"I'm really sorry, I'll make it up to you."
"Don't bother," he said, standing up. "You know what, none of us has said anything to you because we didn't want to hurt your feelings but Robin's not the one breaking this team apart you are . You're hurting this team with your little obsession, and now youre sneaking off without any explanation. You can't make everyone happy, so stop trying."Every word that came out of his mouth dug deeper than any knife ever could. I knew I messed up big this time. He began stopping out the room, and I stood up after him.
"Cy!" I called after him, but it was too late. You can't make everyone happy, so stop try. that was what hurt me the most. Was he right? Should I just stop trying?
"Are you okay?" Robin was beside me, a hand on my shoulder. I shook my head, and put on a fake smile.
"Yeah dude, let's go." I was out the door before he had time to ask anymore questions.
Sliding off the bike, I placed my helmet on the handle. Robin followed suit, pushing back his bangs and letting out a sigh. We were back at the club, and I felt less than exstatic to be here.
"Why exactly are we here again?" I asked. Robin didn't go in depth when he was explaining why I had to leave on such short notice. If anything he seemed a bit nervous, though he'd never admit. He cleared his throat, glancing towards the building. I could hear the loud music from where Is good at the parking lot. There were also obvious strobe lights as well as many people in the building.
"Its a party...for us." He said, a bit nonchalantly.
"Us?" I asked incredulously. He crossed his arm as he avoided eye contact with me.
"Mel thought it was a good idea for the whole club to get to know you. I tried arguing her out of it, but once she has her mind set on something you can't convince her otherwise," he began walking toward the entrance. My mind was racing. This was getting out of hand. I was find with Chap and Melissa thinking we were together, but the whole club? What if the word spread? What was he thinking?
I ran up behind him, grabbing him by the shoulder a turning him around. He frowned at me, obviously annoyed. But I didn't care. He made me ditch Cy for some party I could have said no for. He said it was important.
"I never agreed to this," I growled through my teeth. His expression didn't change at all, which only made me more angry.
"Yes you did," though his expressions hadn't changed, his voice was low and menacing. " you agreed to act like we were in a relationship, remember? Or have you already forgotten what the outcome would be if they found out. And I'm not just talking about Chap. You wanted to know more about me, right? Well, this is this it," he growled, pointing towards the building. "We can call this whole thing off right now, if this is not what you want. If not, then take my hand and stop acting like the shitty brat you are."
I stared at him, stunned by what he just said. He simply stared back, his hand extended towards me. I didn't know whether to be angered or not. He was willing to blow this whole thing off, just like that. How was I suppose to trust him if at any moment we could go back to the way things were, only, he would know my secrets.
I could tell he was getting irritated by the way he was tapping his foot. It was now or never. I could leave and forget everything that had happen. I could apologize to Cy, and tell him why I've been acting the way I was. Or I could take his hand and live through this lie he set up. I could learn things about him, and achieve my goal of figuring out what happen two years ago.
I sighed. I hope I was making the write decision.
We walked through the doors, his fingers intertwined with mine. It felt wierd, and made my insides churn. I was desperately trying to keep down the blush that was creeping up my cheeks, I was still mad at him afterall.
Upon entering, I was hit with the smell if alcohol and whisky, even stronger than the first time I came here. Smoke hovered just below the ceiling, and people were dancing their hearts out on the dance floor.
"You guys made it!" Melissa said, suddenly running up to us. She was wearing a skirt that was a bit too short, even for my liking, and a t-shirt that showed a good bit of her stomach. "I was begining to think you wouldn't show,"
"Not like we had much of a choice,"Robin mumbled under his breath. Melissa ignored this, turning towards me and bringing me into a surprise hug.
" its nice to see you again,Garfield," she said, bringing me at arms length. I smiled slightly, nodding in her direction. "I see you two have no problem with being public," she said, eyeing our laced hands. Robing rolled his eyes, and I felt my blush winning over.
"Greeny!" I jumped as I felt a hard slap on my on my shoulder. I turned to see Chap, who had his arm slung around my shoulder. "Looking fine as usual,"
"Watch it, Chap. You're one compliment away from having my foot shoved up your ass," Robin growled. Chap through his hands up in the air defensively, taking a step back.
"Hey, not like I'm trying to get in his pants or anything," Melissa slapped him on the arm, glaring unapprovingly at him.
"Have some decency for Christ sake! Go hit on someone whose actually willing," Chap simply smirked, turned on his heel and walked in the other direction. Melissa turned towards me, and roll her eyes.
"I know," Isaid, already knowing what she was going to say.
"Well, I have work to do," Robin suddenly said, letting go of my hand.
"Oh no you don't. You promised this would be your day off," Melissa said, stepping in front of him. "Besides, this party was designated to the both of you, not just Gar. God knows how long we've been trying to hook you up with someone," Robin sighed, and ran his hair through his head.
"Fine," he glared at Melissa, only for her to shoot him a toothy grin. She grabbed my hand and lead me to the dance floor. I suddenly felt panicked and tried to worm my way out of her grasp. I turned around to see if Robin had followed us by any chance. He did. Though he didn't look too amused either.
"You both are too tense for your own good. You need to loosen up!" Melissa yelled, before spinning and dancing to the beat of the music. I turned towards Robin who simply shrugged.
"I don't dance," I yelled as Melissa took both of my hands and started shaking them. God knows, how long its been since I've actually tried busting a move. Even when I did years ago, I was just being goofy. This was different. I could feel peoples eyes were specifically on the three of us, even the ones who were dancing.
"Sure you do. Come on, Dick, show him how its done," I turned towards Robin, who mumbled something under his breath before making his way towards us. I stared wide eyed as he instantly picked up the beat of the music. With every note the bass pumped, his body moved with it. Even when the pace of the song got faster, his body never ceased to stop moving. And I was dumbfounded by how good of a dancer he actually was. Melissa laughed as she propped her elbow on his shoulder.
"We don't call him Dick the disco stick for nothing," If I wasn't so shocked right now, I would have laughed. The Robin. The oh so tight ass Robin, had the moves like Jagger! This was all to good to be true. "Well, what are you waiting for, go dance with him!" Before I had a chance to argue, Melissa pushed me forward, sending me stumbling into the arms of said dance. I let out a nervous chuckle. He raised an eye brow.
"So are you going to dance or not, Brat," even during the midst of talking, he stayed in rythm with the beat. His hips never ceased to stop moving.
"I meant it when I said I didn't dance," I could tall he was rolling his eyes under his dark shades.
"I've seen you dance before,"
"Do you really consider that dancing?" A small smirk appeared on his lips and he began dancing again. I watched in awe, as the moves I didn't know he had fell perfectly with the beat. He began dancing around me, as to tease me in some sort away.
I jumped as I felt a hand on either side of my waist, and the heat of a body on mine.
"Just follow the beat," it was Robin, I could tell by his voice, even if he was whispering in my ear. I felt a shiver go up my spine, as well as my face totally heating up. He began to rock my hips back and forth to the rhythm. I tensed. "Relax, I'm just helping you out," I nodded. Soon I could pick out the rhythm with ought Robin, and he let go.
"Alright, now don't worry about everyone else. Its just us and the dancefloor." I nodded again, this time feeling a bit more confident in my moves. I didn't really know what I was doing, all I could do was hear the bass and hope that I was staying up to par with it. I turned looked towards Robin, who was dancing in front of me. Was he smiling?
I think I was getting the hang of it.
"The usual," Robin told the bbartender. We decided to get off the dance floor, Robin complaining that it was getting too hot and sweaty. I had to agree. We were now at the bar table, getting a drink.
"And your friend," theman asked. He had pale skin, sweaty brows, and rosy cheeks.
"Water please," he gave me an unusual look, but simply shrugged and began making our drinks.
"I thought you didn't dance," Robin said, a smirk toying at his mouth . I shrugged.
"I don't,"
"Well you're pretty damn good at it," he muttered.
"You helped, besides I was just copying you," I laughed. "I should be the one who's shock. Dick the disco stick?"
"Shut up, it was Mel who came up with that stupid name,"
"I like it," laugh. "Kinda suits you," he grunted. The bartender set our drinks in front of us. I took a sip of the cool water. And that's when it hit me. A strong scent of alcohol came crashing into my nose, making it burn. The smell was strong and intoxicating.
I looked over to the source of thesmell, and was surprised, to say the lease, to see it was Robin drink. He downed the liguid as if it was just water. I stared at him in shock. Sense when did he drink? The Robin I knew would never drink, especially if he was still under aged.
Just as I was about to ask him about it, Chap and Mel appeared beside us, taking a seat on either side. I would have to ask him about it later.
"I thought Dick was good at dancing, I think we found his match,"Chap said, punching me lightly on the arm. He then nodded his head at the bartender, who simply turned without the words.
" And you said you couldn't dance," Melissa said, smirking.
"I don't,"
"Like hell you don't, the whole club was watching! " Chap said. Robin rolled his eyes before drinking more of his beverage. "You're lucky, Greeny. People don't really like newbs around here, but everyone warmed up to you rather quickly," before I could say anything, Robin shot up in his chair.
"Is that so?" He asked. Bother Chap and Melissa nodded. "Then I did my job for the night. Gar, you can stay here if you want but I'm leaving," He began walking towards the door with out a second glance. I turned towards Chap and Melissa, who both gave knowing nods.
"See you next time," Melissa said, bringing me into a quick hug.
"Yeah, I'll be sure to look for you in the streets," chap said. I simply rolled my eyes, turned on my heel. And ran towards the exit
"I had fun," I said, as we both stared at the city off the roof. I turned towards Robin, who simply nodded in agreement. It was a full moon tonight with a light breeze. It felt nice. I closed my eyes, letting the cool beams of the moon hit my face. "You know, you've changed. I mean, I know you were acting different but this a totally different person," I said, turning towards him and meeting his gaze.
"Dick and Robin are two different people," he said simply. I furrowed my brows. "Get some sleep, I plan on having everyone run the optical course tomorrow." I pouted. As if training wasn't enough.
"Will you be there?" I asked.
"Possibly," he didn't turn towards my direction. "Besides, we have a long day of story telling tomorrow."
hey guys, been awhile. Too long actually. Heh, sorry. With school, sports and my violin lessons, I hardly had enough time to even watch t.v. I know that's not a very good excuse because its been months! But you guys kept me going with all the nice reviews!
Also, I had a major writers block andbasically didn't know what to write or how to write it. I have the whole story mapped out in my mind, I just can't put it into words for some reason.
I'm hoping to post the next chapter by the end of this week. Again, thanks for all of yousupport! s
