Chapter 4

Third Person

"Oh, what did I get myself into?" The young man asked again.

The young man had brown eyes, shoulder-length black hair, and stood about 5'11". He wore a cowboy hat on his head, a black t-shirt, an armored duster over that, blue jeans, and brown combat boots. He looked about 27.

"Seriously? A mere humanoid is the challenge we're facing here?" Aeolus said.

"I'll show you who's a mere humanoid!" The young man yelled. He pulled out a small blaster, and shot it at Siarnaq. It hit him directly in the face.

"Bulls eye!" The man yelled.

"ATTACK…" Siarnaq started. "INEFFECTIVE."

"Oh… Um… Sorry?" The man said nervously.

"You sure are, bud." Atlas said. With a loud bang, there were now three bodies laying in row.

"What should we do with the other 2?" Thetis asked.

"Better take them back, just to be sure." Aeolus said. He then walked up to Yumomaru, and smirked. He then started kicking his unconscious body.

Still grinning, he said creepily, "Just remember, this is your entire fault. The reason we became Megamen, everything… It's all on you. Hehehe…"

All the other Megamen did was staring. Aeolus then picked Yumomaru up and flew towards the legion base, the other megamen following him, carrying the other 2 prisoners.

Yumomaru's POV

It's weird how luck can change your fate in an instant. I remembered how luck seemed to go my way a few hours ago…

I was at the warehouse with model CX. Turned out it wasn't so abandoned after all.

"So, you would like to buy a warehouse space?" The old man known as Gears asked me. Gears was about my height , with blue eyes, a gray mustache, and a bare head.

Gears was the owner of a huge lot of warehouses that used to be used for holding supplies, but was mostly shut years ago.

"Yeah, we need a base to plan attacks against legion-" I start.

"IDIOT!" model CX yells. "You don't tell them that! Everyone thinks legion is good. If you go around telling everyone we meet about our plan to take down Legion, we'll"-

"Wait." Gears interrupts. "You're… Against the Legion?"

"W-well… against is a… harsh word…" CX stutters.

"You can have all the space you want for free." Gears says, walking off.

"What! But- You're-" CX yells.

Gears just kept walking, not looking back.

My eyes opened up. I realized I was strapped down on a lab table. I was in a clean, white room with blinding lights on the ceiling. I tried to get up, but no luck.

"Feeling a bit stuck, are we?" I looked up to see a man with long, brown hair and glasses.

"Where's the biometal?" I ask.

"You mean the rejected Model CX? Probably being put to sleep. Just like you will be. How unfortunate… We'll be months behind schedule. Have to do a new memory wipe, emotion wipe, and reinstall every single command set…"

"Who… are you?"

"Me?" The man asks. "I'm a project just like you are. My name is Girouette, or, at least, used to be I'm told. Most call me Giron now."

I stayed silent after that. Giron just stared at me. Eventually the door opened.

"I have… permission for you to punish the Project for running away."

"Great. Giron, turn on the table. Thetis, get the saw blade."

"This is… too evil."

"Shut up!"

I looked over to see a sadistic looking girl with long, blond hair and blue eyes holding a spinning saw blade.

Not. Cool.

A few minutes earlier…

Cliff POV

I woke up in some freaky cell with electric bars. How did I know they were electric? Well…

"OW!" I backed away from the bars.

"Be careful!" The girl behind me yells.

The girl had a slim body, black hair that went to her waist and bangs above her eyes, and gray eyes. She wore a white, skin-tight shirt and a black jacket over that, red shorts, white boots, and under that she wore a black bodysuit. Not bad, for a 14-year-old girl. If only she was older…

"I'm fine. I'm more worried about that other kid… I wonder what exactly is going on."

"Me too." The girl responds. "My name's Samantha. What's yours?"

"Cliff." I say. I look out into the blackness outside of our cell. I can't see anything farther than a few feet. "This place… is weird. All remember is protecting that kid that got shot… then nothing."

"Same here!" Samantha replies. "Wait… I'm healed!"

"What?"

"I had a huge cut on my leg, and a bad burn on my neck, but it's gone!" She exclaims.

"Weird…" I say. "Those… whoever they are lock us up, but heal you? Why would they do that?"

I then hear a door open, and some lights turn on. Two guys with blasters walk over to us. I recognize the uniform almost immediately.

"You… You're with Legion!" Samantha yells.

"Get up." The first one says. "We're taking you to the examination room to see if your Biomechs or not."

I reach for my gun, but it's not there. Well, duh. "Fine." I state. He opens the door, and I walk out.

"You too." The guard points to Samantha, who refused to move. "Hurry up-oof!"

I kicked the guard in the chest, quickly grabbed his blaster, and shot the other one two times.

"Cool!" Samantha says after a few seconds, surprising me. She obviously wasn't scared easily.

"Take this." I throw her the other guard's blaster. "We're getting out of here."

"Right!" She yells. I start to walk out of the room when I hear her say, "Wait, what are we doing again?"

Great. Just. Great.

Yumomaru's POV

"We need a gene sample, not a chunk of his stomach." Giron said to the girl. "We can't seriously harm him, or the entire project will go up in flame."

"You can replace whatever I cut off, and you can extract the genes still." She replied. "It's a win-win."

"Praien…"

"Fine. But I call dibs on electrocuting him."

"That's perfectly fine. Now, I'm going to get that sample." Giron then comes over to me and thrusts a syringe into my arm. After a few seconds, he pulls it out.

"There's… no change. He is still the perfect one for our needs."

"Good. Thetis, get out of here." The girl commanded. "I don't need a wimp like you trying to stop me."

"Jerk…" Thetis then turned around and left.

The girl then turned to me. "Hey there." She says. "We're going to have some fun." She then walked over to me and flipped some sort of switch under the table.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Cliff POV

"AAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGG!"

"What was that?" Samantha asks.

We were making our way down a dark hallway. Ahead was a white room. That's were the sound came from.

"Let's check it out." I say. We walk down and I peek through the clear door. Inside were a man and a girl. The girl was smiling, and the man was writing something down on a clipboard. I also noticed that there was an older kid strapped to a table, screaming at the top of his lungs.

"That's the kid we were trying to protect earlier…" Samantha mutters. "We need to help him!"

"They're electrocuting him." I think for a second. "On three, we charge in. 1, 2,…"

I kick the door open, and shoot the girl in the head. She falls over on the table, getting electrocuted herself, and then she falls to the ground. The man looks up from his clipboard, shrugs, and continues writing.

I stare at him for a second, then turn the electricity off on the table.

"Shouldn't we do something about him?" Samantha asks, pointing to the man.

"No, we need to leave now." I reply.

"Good… idea… Ugh." The kid mutters.

"You can still talk?" I ask, surprised.

"Yeah… You two… were there when those guys… attacked me." He mutters.

"Yup. I'm Cliff, and that's Samantha." I say. "I'll get you up, and then we'll get out of here."

A Few Minutes Later…

Yumomaru POV

I was running down the hall with the two others. We reached a staircase leading down, and stopped.

"So, what's your name?" Cliff asks.

"Yumomaru."

"Cool. So, do you know where to go?" I shake my head no. "Alright, then. I guess we should keep running then."

"Why are you… Helping me?" I ask.

"Well, we both saw you getting shot, so we just followed are instincts and helped." Cliff replies.

"And we also just found you here while we were trying to escape, so… yeah." Samantha chimes in.

"Let's keep going." Cliff says.

"…" I follow them down the stairs.

"It's open." We walked through a metal door that we found at the end of the stairs. What we saw was rather… disturbing, to say the least.

"There has to be thousands of them… Maybe more…" Samantha gasps.

"What are they doing to them?" Cliff asks.

"…." We were staring at thousands of tube. And each tube was filled with weird liquid. And each one also contained ether a person or a biometal.

"They're… projects." I say. "I think… they are transforming them into a super soldier army of some sort."

"Sort of, but not quite, idiots."

I look back. "You are…!" Samantha says.

"Aeolus." I glare at him.

"You're not getting away." He pulls out a sword. "None of you can even Megamerge, much less defeat me."

"I am honestly tired of you." I say bluntly. "I have no idea who you are, who I am, what this is, and EVERYBODY is trying to kill me."

"Poor you. Just die." Before I knew what was happening. Aeolus was in front of me.

"Whoa!" I quickly jumped out-of-the-way before he slashed at me with his sword. He jumped at me, but was blasted in the face, blowing him back.

"Run!" Cliff yelled, shooting him a few more times and then running away. Samantha and I followed.

"Rrggh… MEGAMERGE!"

"What… is he doing?!" Samantha yells.

"I don't know!" Cliff shouts back.

I didn't look back. I just kept running, trying to dodge the tubes.

I heard a loud above. I looked up. Nothing was there. I looked back ahead, and Aeolus was right in front of me. Samantha and Cliff finally caught up with me, and Samantha says, "This is not good!"

"Nice try." Aeolus says, now in his Megamerged form. He slashes with his sword, which emits a sonic wave that rushes at us. I close my eyes.

"NO!"

I open my eyes to see Cliff on the ground. "He… blocked the wave…" I say.

Samantha gasps and lowers herself to check him.

I don't understand this. This random guy protects me-twice now. Same with the girl. They know nothing about me. I know nothing about me. This… isn't logical. This doesn't make sense. But I feel something building up inside of me now. And I know what to do.

"Aeolus!" I yell. "Let's go!"

"Wait! You'll be-" Samantha starts.

"Shut up!" I yell. "Take Cliff off to the side." She takes him behind a tube, and peeks out to watch.

"You're certainly brave, for a coward." Aeolus says.

I cringe. "Don't contradict yourself. It's weird."

"You're really going to face me?" I ball my hands, close my eyes, and focus.

I need help. That annoying Biometal… I need him here now.

"Just stand still." Aeolus says. "This will hurt."

I still don't understand… But I know I have to help those two. I know we all need to get out of here alive.

"Just remember you're getting what you deserve."

Please.

"WHOOOHOOOO!"

I open my eyes to see a blue ball of light smash into Aeolus' face, and then rush over to me.

"Model CX." I say.

"I thought you would be happier to see me!" CX says. "Whatever…"

"How did you…"

"You called." CX states. "I was in sleep mode, when I heard a disturbance. I broke out of my tube and rushed over. Now, let's pummel him!"

"Right! Megamerge!" I yell. 5 seconds go by.

Aeolus gets up. "You're dead!" 10 seconds. Still not megamerged.

"Uh… CX?"

"Oh… I forgot. The Legion workers locked my Megamerge components, so we can't do that fancy thing anymore, heh-heh."

"And I'm the idiot." I grab CX out of the air.

"What are you doing?" CX asks warily.

"Just wait."

I looked over to Aeolus, who had charged up some sort of super attack for the last few minutes. He still seemed dazed from CX hitting him in the head, and was struggling to focus. In his hands was a small, electric ball that was steadily growing larger.

I closed my eyes again, and focused on CX. I was acting on instinct, hoping something would happen.

Somehow, I could see inside of Model CX. Like he said, all components used in the Megamerge process were locked. But there was another way…

"Your normal Megamerge is locked." I say. "But Legion doesn't know there is a second level of Megamerge, so they didn't lock that."

"Wait… WHAT!" CX yells. "How do you know this?"

"Not sure." I say. "But I know how to win."

I breathed in a deep breath, hoping this would work.

"POWERSURGE!" I yelled. "MEGAMERGE!"

"Super Biolink established, M.E.G.A. System Online."

"What… is this…?" Aeolus asks.

The room is filled with light, and then subsides. "Whoa…" I hear Samantha gasp behind the tube.

I look at myself. I have square-shaped blue boots with white soles, a white bodysuit with blue lines going up the sides. I have a blue jacket that goes to my chest, with gold highlights, and black gloves with golden squares on the middle of my palms. I have a blue and white helmet, with a red arrow starting at my forehead and continuing onto the back of the helmet, and 5 5-inch golden spikes coming out of the top of my helmet at an angle.

"This power… This is the second level of Megamerge!" Aeolus exclaims.

"No." I say. "This is."

My hand turns into a gun, and I shoot Aeolus in the chest, throwing him back, knocking over several tubes containing Biometals.

I look over at Samantha, who is gaping, staring at me. "We," I start. "Are leaving." I grab all the biometals that were in the tubes Aeolus knocked over and use all of my energy to transport us back to that old warehouse that I was staying in.

"That's… a lot to take in." Cliff says.

We were in the old warehouse. Cliff had finally woken up, and I just finished explaining to them my situation and what exactly happened in the last few hours.

"Who would've thought Legion was the bad guy…" Sam mutters.

"Well, you guys should probably go now." I say. "Thank you for the help."

"We're…" Cliff starts. "Not going anywhere, buddy. You say you're forming a team to combat Legion? Count me in."

"Me too!" Sam yells, excited. "We'll show those guys!"

"Really?" I ask.

"Yeah, of course." Cliff responds. "We can't let those guys do whatever they want!"

I stare at them. "Thanks." I say plainly.

Things are looking up.
