The Doctor sat stunned as a castle rose up over the crest of a hill. It was backdropped by mountains and surrounded by giant pink trees that appeared to be made of cotton candy. The Doctors mind was in a whirl as he tried to take everything in. He got that feeling of ecstasy that he got every time he visited a new place. They traveled quickly, but then again, they were riding a giant dog whose legs could stretch for miles.
Soon enough they were at the gates of the city, and two giant gum-ball machines greeted the boy and the dog.
"Hello Finn the human."
"Hello Jake the dog." The guardians each acknowledged one of the two in their monotonous voices.
"Hey guys, just here to see the princess, we've got some important business and junk going on." Finn gave the giant machines a slight wave as they scaled the city wall.
Jake kept his size even though there were many people, or living pieces of candy as far as the Doctor could tell, and placed his paws carefully on the ground, making sure not to crush anyone. It only took a few of his giant steps to reach the palace in the center of the city, and then he stretched up to new heights and let them off, then he himself stepped onto the yellow floor of the balcony, shrinking in midair.
"PB! Are you here?" Finn opened a door and yelled inside. They could hear her voice down the hall, yelling at something or someone. Finn rushed inside followed by Jake. The Doctor stood for a moment, admiring the scenery, then hastened after them, trying not to hurt poor Ms. Petrikov in the process.

Princess Bubblegum had bags under her eyes. The pink princess had stayed up all night experimenting with candy matter, trying to create an unbreakable yet fashionable candy helmet for her banana guards. She had no intention of sending them up against any danger without ample protection and style. All she wanted was the best for her citizens, so that was what they were going to have.
She trudged into her room and collapsed face first on her bed. She let out a groan and rolled over, only to be greeted by an extremely annoying, not to mention uninvited, guest hovering over her. She rocketed to her feet, taking a defensive stance.
"Ice King. What are you doing here." She snapped.
"Oh you know, just brought you these ice sculptures," He gestured around the room, as they were literally everywhere (Princess Bubblegum had no idea how she had missed them), " and um, checking in to see if your position on our marriage has changed..."
Princess Bubblegum was way to tired to deal with his crap, "Please get out of my room."
"But I made all of these by hand! Just for you!"
"I said get out of my room."
"But-"
"GET OUT OF MY ROOM YOU DUMB BUTT! I'M TIRED OF YOU BREAKING IN HERE! I'M NEVER GOING TO MARRY YOU, SO JUST FORGET IT! Now get out of my sight." Ice King stood, gaping. "I said LEAVE!" He started for the window, only to stop in his tracks.
"PB are you okay? We heard yelling and-" Finn was cut short by the dog.
"Ice King." Jake growled. Finn drew his sword and advanced.
"What are you doing here you sicko." Ice King backed away slowly towards a window as Finn and Jake continued forward, eyes narrowed.
"Oh you know... the usual... um... gifts, marriage proposal, rejection... nothing weird..." Ice King fiddled with his hands.
"Sure. That's what they all say." Jake replied.
"He's telling the truth boys." The princess cut in. Finn and Jake whirled around.
"Oh. Well okay... but still, he broke in here." The two turned back, just in time to see Ice King floating out the window.
"Hey! Get back here!" Jake stretched his arm out the window and grabbed the Ice King by his foot, and grimaced, "Gross! The things are like clammy mutated potatoes."
The Ice King was about to protest, when the Doctor stumbled into the room, carrying Betty. Finn and Jakes heads whirled around just in time to see Betty fly from the Doctors arms as he slipped on a patch of ice. In a panic, Jake released Ice King's smelly foot, and reached for Betty. His arms stretched quickly and precisely, and slid under her just before she hit the ground.
"Whew," Everyone in the room let out a sigh of relief. Betty had landed on a mattress, or what looked to be like one. The Doctor grinned a little, still amazed to see what this dog had in store. His grin turned to puzzlement as he watched the blue, almost Santa Claus-like figure fly away, beard flapping like wings. This was definitely one of the strangest experiences he'd had.
It was awkwardly silent for a minute, gazes switching between the Doctor and Betty. Finally, to break the silence, the Doctor stood, careful to not slip again. He cleared his throat.
"Eh-em," Everyone's eyes settled on the Doctor, "So, I'm the Doctor, and this," He nodded his head in Betty's direction, "Is Ms. Betty Petrikov."
Finn and Jake looked at each other, but didn't say anything.
"I was told that a Princess Bubblegum could help me, well, not me, Betty here actually," The Doctor continued.
"I am Princess Bubblegum," The pink lady stepped forward, observing the Doctor with her head held high, as if trying to figure out the Doctor.
"Your Majesty," The Doctor bowed low, then with a worried look said, "I hope you know how to treat radiation poisoning."
