MADDIE POV:
When they got back, everyone was gone. Maddie looked around, trying to figure out where their companions had disappeared to. "You don't think that the ghost has them, do you?"
"Non. I would have sensed a presence if it had been here. Besides, Ivan Tao or Ludwig would have fought it off." Francis replied.
"They can do that?"
"Oui. Tao has been trained to fight spirits since she was five. The other two have abilities that they can fight with, I will let you ask them when we find them." He walked up to one of the monitors, looking at each, to make sure that nothing was there. Putting down the Take-out, she walked over to help him look through each of the screens. A flicker from the corner of her eye, caught her attention. Looking closer, she saw the outline of a woman. She was dressed in a white dress, much like one that a bride would wear, save for a small part in the middle that was dyed red. Pale hair was matted to a forehead, framing and even more pale face. Red eyes glowed out from beneath a cloth that covered parts of her face. She was floating above the floor, a specter of the halls. Another movement on the same monitor, interrupted the ghost's hovering. Ludwig had jumped out of the shadows, now pinning the woman to the wall with a stick made of some odd material.
The ghost didn't like to be touched. She flung him across the room, only to reappear behind him and grabbing a hold on his neck. "F-Francis." Maddie managed, terror coursing through her veins. He came over and cursed.
"We have to help him, he won't be hunting alone, but I doubt that the others can handle this violent of a ghost." Francis stole a glance at what room the camera was in before turning to leave, "Allons!" He grabbed her by the arm, dragging her after him. Maddie struggled to focus her eyes, starting to wonder if this counted as strenuous activity to Tao. Going through the house in a blur, they soon reached the living room to see, Ivan prying the ghost off of Ludwig. Alfred was nursing a dislocated shoulder on the opposite room, struggling to wake up Felicia. Tao and Alice were no where in sight.
"Francis, look out!" Ivan yelled as the ghost started at him at his arrival. The ghost was brandishing a kitchen knife, already dripping with blood. Maddie pushed Francis out of the way, just as the ghost collided with her.
~ "Honey, where were you tonight?" A woman with long black hair asked her husband as he failed to close the door silently, crossing his arms.
"I was just running an errand." He was obviously lying
"Really?" She raised an eyebrow. "Then you won't mind telling me why our son caught you sneaking off to Ms. Robinson's house, will you?"
The man panicked. "I was just- I mean I just-"
"You've been cheating on me, haven't you?" She asked, anger creeping into her voice.
"Well if you weren't so freaking possessive of your stuff maybe I wouldn't have had to."
"Oh, so now it is my fault? That's it, get out of my house, you aren't welcome here." The man fumbled for a minute, "I said out." He gave in under her stare and left. The woman collapsed into her chair, hating herself for not catching on sooner. Was it really her fault?~
Maddie fought open her eyes to see the ghost staring back at her. It's face seemed so familiar now. It was the woman. Maddie forced herself to touch the thing again, but there was no vision this time. "Don't be afraid, I understand," she found herself saying, wanting for the ghost to calm down.
Instead the ghost wailed at her touch, "GET AWAY!" It frantically searched for an exit before deciding to disappear into thin air. Maddie fell to her knees, trying to control her breathing.
"Maddie, you okay?" Alfred asked, walking over to her. Francis somehow got to her before the American did, helping her to her feet.
"Fine. Just a little out of it." She managed.
"The ghost was scared of Maddie, da? Why?" Ivan asked
"Saw something. Memory of the ghost's I think."
"But before, when you saw something, you fainted? This time you didn't why?" Alfred asked.
"My reaction varies." Looking around she asked, "What happened? And where are Tao and Alice?"
"Alice and Tao are⦠actually I don't know where they went off to. Alice? Tao?" Alfred called out. A muffled reply from behind a couch that had been slammed against a wall, most likely the ghost's doing. Alfred scratched his head before he gestured for Ivan to follow him. Each taking an end, the two slid the couch away. Alice was lying limply on top of a frustrated Tao. Both had changed into more dress like outfits, Alice looking like she had stolen her outfit from Maleficent, and Tao wearing a sort of dark red cheongsam with golden borders. She glared at Alfred for a while before helping Alice onto her feet.
"Aren't you going to help?" Tao put out, done with their stares. Maddie was the first to react, grabbing the other side of Alice. The Brit was bleeding from a nasty gash on the head, over her left eyebrow. "We must get Alice and Felicia back to the shed now. Their injuries might be critical, aru."
"Right." Alfred nodded and grabbed Alice from their arms, heaving her over his good shoulder, wincing at the action. The two conscious girls shook their head, Francis joining them in the action, at his stupidity, but started to head that way.
"How is your head?" Tao asked Maddie once everyone was sitting and taken care of. No real damage had been done besides a few bruises. Felicia had apparently ran into a wall while she was in a hurry, so her injuries barely consisted of a faint ache in her nose. Alice had blocked Tao from getting the knife thrown at her and then the two had toppled behind a couch that had pushed itself against a wall a second later.
"My head is okay. Just a little dizzy here and there. But seriously what happened while we were gone?"
"We were just watching the monitors when we saw the ghost looking in the master bedroom, holding a knife." Felicia, who was now awake, explained. "Alfred decided that we should go check it out. It sensed us immediately and disappeared, so we spread out. I heard someone scream in the other room and kind of ran into a wall." She blushed sheepishly.
"That would have been Alice and me that screamed, aru. It popped out right behind us, that's when we got stuck behind the couch." Tao flicked her eyes over to Alice, who was resting on the couch and would be grumpy when she woke up.
"Yeah, we heard the scream to. Right, Ludwig?" Ivan put in. Ludwig nodded, trying to soothe his bruised back.
"I just heard the commotions when you guys started fighting. This ghost has to be some sort of poltergeist, it was able to throw stuff around on the opposite side of the house, it really likes to try and kill people with drapes." Everyone looked at Alfred like he was stupid. "What? I almost died, and my shoulder is still dislocated from the tassels grabbing hold of me. Why can't I just pop it back in again?"
"Because, aru, we need Alice for that, she is the best at relocating limbs, if you haven't forgotten." Tao snapped. "Besides, I'm sure that she wants you to be in a little pain before she helps you. You know how she hates it when she gets knocked out in the middle of cases." There was a dark silence as everyone glared at one another.
"W-why don't we eat something, eh." Maddie suggested. Alfred and Felicia lit up at this and both dove for the food, arguing over who got what. Ludwig and Ivan soon had to pull each of them away from one another once Felicia accidentally jabbed Alfred's bad shoulder. "I know that I should be used to this by now, but is that normal?" She asked Francis.
"Oui. Maintenant, nous allons manger." The Frenchman said.
