Johnny drove to Penny's apartment and parked his car in front of the building. It was a big building that looked like it was going to fall apart but it's all that Penny could afford anyway. Johnny stayed many times at her place just to be away from his father during winter but he knew he couldn't stay at her place forever. He stepped out and walked to the big front door, he walked up the stairs saying hi to some people who were talking in the lobby room. They looked after him and whispered some things, he is used to that now. People always whispered behind his back.
When he was in the hallway of Penny's apartment he heard a lot of noises and screaming voices, when he got to her door he listened and heard it was Penny screaming at someone. Then there was another scream and Johnny kicked the door open on instinct, when it comes to Penny he is very protective. He looked inside and saw a guy standing above Penny who was burying her face in her arms, without thinking Johnny jumped on top of the guy and grabbed his collar.
"Stay away from her." Johnny said warningly as the guy laid on the floor trying to get up while Johnny kept him down.
"Who the hell are you?" The guy asked as Johnny gave him room to stand up, Penny looked up.
"Johnny!" She said and he went to her, she grabbed him tightly and he soothed her.
"Ssshhh, everything will be alright. Johnny is here." He whispered and she started to cry. The guy looked at them and made a sound that made Johnny to look at him again.
"I don't know what is going on, but I want you to step away from my girlfriend." The guy said in a warning tone and made fists. Johnny let Penny go as he stood up to face the guy fully.
"Boyfriend? I hardly even doubt it you would be, Penny deserves way better than you." Johnny said in an angry tone.
"Oh you mean someone like you then?" The guy asked and Penny looked at both men.
"Guys please." She whispered as she sniffed a few times, Johnny has promised her a long time ago he would protect her and he wasn't planning to break that promise.
"Penny is my best friend and if I were you I would step away from her." Johnny said as he made fists as well, on that moment Billy walked inside looking at the door being kicked in.
"What is going on in here?" Billy asked and looked up at the situation, the guy looked at Billy.
"Aha, another potential boyfriend of you Penny?" The guy asked getting angrier with the second.
"What?" Billy asked in a stupid tone. Johnny made sure he stood in front of Penny so he would be protecting her.
"What did you say?" Billy asked as he tried to look at the situation, he walked to Penny and saw her face.
"Penny, what did he do to you?" Billy asked and kneeled next to her, she turned her head away. Billy grabbed her so she couldn't go away and he could look at her face.
"What did you do to her asshole?" Johnny asked as he still stood ready. Billy stood up and turned to stand next to Johnny.
"She needs a MD Johnny, her face looks really bad." Billy said softly.
"Wish I could help her out." Johnny said looking at Billy but still alert, Billy looked at the guy.
"You're a sad person of a man to do this to a woman. What did she do to you anyway?" Billy asked in a sneering tone, Johnny watched the guy again.
"She left me for a younger boy she had met at her summer job." The guy explained and Johnny's and Billy's mouth fell open, they turned to Penny who was still crying.
"Is that true Penny?" Johnny asked as he kneeled in front of her again.
"I thought it wasn't anything serious between him and me and he didn't gave me that much attention anyway that's why I thought that Robbie would have been a better match." Penny explained in a quiet tone and looking down, Johnny shushed her and hugged her again.
"Billy?" Johnny asked.
"Yes cuz?" Billy asked as he kept an eye on the guy.
"Can you call Dr. Houseman and ask what we can do?" Johnny asked and Billy was surprised about this, well he knows that Dr. Houseman would help Penny but that Johnny would ask this.
"Alright." Billy said and walked to the phone.
"Why did you beat her up for it?" Johnny asked, the guy was still angry that Johnny was near her.
"Because I lost control and she cheated on me." The guy said.
"Cheating is wrong, but beating a woman is worse. You definitely don't deserve Penny, I want you to leave before accidents will happen." Johnny said in a warning tone, Billy looked at the situation while he was talking to Dr. Houseman.
"Johnny please." Penny said.
"No Penny, not this time. This guy don't deserve you, like Robbie wasn't enough already." Johnny said and Penny burst out in tears again. She knows Johnny is right but she didn't know what to do anymore about this.
"Dr. Houseman will be here in a few hours, we should try to keep her safe or take her elsewhere." Billy said as he came back to Johnny and Penny.
"What address did you gave him?" Johnny asked.
"Mine, it's the quietest over there." Billy said and Johnny nodded, he lifted Penny up in his arms and walked to the door. The guy moved forward but Billy jumped in between.
"If I ever see you again I won't stop myself!" The guy said as Billy walked backwards out of the apartment.
"Penny this guy is dangerous, where did you met him anyway?" Johnny asked as he sat her down in his car. Penny looked at him as he walked around the car and stepped in. Billy has departed already.
"I met him at the club I was working before summer season, at the time he really looked like a great guy Johnny. Only I thought he wasn't taking anything serious and I didn't saw him that much, mostly only at the club actually." Penny explained and looked at his worried and annoyed face.
"I told you many times to be careful with guys coming in such clubs." Johnny said and looked at her.
"Yeah like I told you many times you shouldn't mix in with the guests at Kellerman's." Penny said in a sarcastic tone, Johnny looked at her and they both started to chuckle a bit.
