Wow, last week feels like a different world. Yesterday my entire world came crumbling down around me. I finally realized this moon thing is going to have a lasting effect. My mom could be dead for all I know, but I can't even cry. It's like a nightmare and I am just being shoved through it without having time to react.
Alice is totally freaking out. Yesterday she lost her only family member.
When we got to her grandmothers house, we found a note on the table. It basically said she was nearing her time and left the house so Alice didn't have to see her. It also said to take everything we could use from her house, including the car.
Hello! Neither of us could drive, but we had to try. We managed to get a lot of stuff, including: about 100 assorted jars of homegrown fruits and veggies, 37 jars of pre-cooked sausage patties, 23 cans of spam, 19 cans of franks and beans, 13 cans of store bought vegetables, 20 gallon jugs of water, 5 GIANT bags of rice, some quilts, all of her cash and valuables, everything Alice needed and wanted, some toilet paper, a few rolls of towels, 2 oil lanterns, 30 candles, 5 flashlights with extra batteries, a hand crank tv(with horrible picture quality), and a hand crank radio. It turns out Alice's grandma was a prepper, and at this point, we are probably lucky she was. After we packed everything in the car, along with the bikes, we went back home. I probably drove about 10mile an hour the entire way, so we made it home safe.
Tomorrow, instead of a normal entry, I will probably use that page as a sort of inventory page. After all, we don't know how long this will last. I guess Alice is officially a part of our little parent-less orphan family. I'm going to go organize our food while it's still daylight out, and right now Alice is trying to figure out how to cook steak by our fire place, we are trying to use up everything in the fridge and freezer before it all thaws out. Maybe later we will put a VCR in the hand-crank tv. It has an opening for VCRs, so I hope it works. Tomorrow we also have to maybe go to town and look for more food and baby formula. We only have a few days worth of formula.
