Couple weeks had past and the bond between Lola and Seth grew to the point they were just as inseparable as he was with his previous digimon. They even went out together every night when Seth would go out to see who ever it was he went to see. Gatomon noticed this and felt she needed to confront he daughter and see where the two were going every night.
Gatomon stopped Lola one morning has they were entering the next morning.
"Lola, can I talk to you a second?"
Lola stopped and nodded Seth on as he was heading to take a shower, "Yeah mom what's up."
"Where are you guys going to at night and why aren't you letting me or his parents know that you are going out?" Gatomon asked
Lola started feeling herself getting frustrated that clearly her mom was trusting her with her tamer, "What I and my tamer do when we go out is our business not anyone else's. I am making sure he is being safe and staying out of trouble. Is that good enough for you"
"Listen here young lady, I don't know where this attitude came from but I hope it leaves quickly and I will be letting his parents know that he has been going out every night and he better be prepared to tell them," Gatomon snapped back
Lola just glared at her mom before turning and heading back to Seth's room where he was entering after getting out of the shower. Once inside she hopped up on the bed and laid down still pissed at her mom.
"So, guessing the talk didn't go so well?" Seth asked with a twinge of pain in his legs.
"No, my mom noticed us leaving every night so far and wanted to know why." Lola responded.
"What did you tell her?" Seth asked rubbing his legs a bit to ease the pain.
"I told her it wasn't her business and that I was making sure you were staying out of trouble. Apparently, she wasn't happy and is gonna tell your parents." Lola replied.
"Shit, they are the last people who need to be asking questions, but I'll come up with something if they ask any questions," he stated.
Seth went over and sat on the bed and started petting her and Lola could feel herself calming down. She eventually closed her eyes and went to sleep. Seth got up and finished getting dressed and left his room to let her sleep. He was now debating if telling her the truth was the right thing to do but he knew he was going to need her help one day soon. He also knew that their bond was gonna have to get stronger, so she could digivolve, but that couldn't happen if they never went to the digital world and he wasn't ready to go back there yet.
Seth walked to the kitchen and grabbed something to eat, he had the place roughly to himself since his parents returned to work. A doctor allowed him time to re-adjust and start back later in the year, even though he knew he wouldn't even make it that long. He knew his mom was a teacher but wasn't sure what his dad did. He thought he was a writer but since he left this morning shortly after his mom clearly that wasn't the case. He made a note to ask when he got home.
After eating breakfast and doing his dishes he walked over to the window and looked outside and started to get lost in his thoughts.
Gatomon came out of her room again after trying to calm down after her talk with her daughter didn't go as well as she wanted. She then saw Seth looking out the window and decided she was gonna talk to him and see if he would tell her what the two of them have been up to. She walked over towards hiand she felt like something was off, but she decided to ignore the feeling and continue over. Once she got over she started asking all the questions she asked her daughter, but it seemed that Seth was ignoring her and kept staring out the window.
Gatomon began losing her temper again but before she could speak she felt herself lifted off the ground and held against the wall. When she opened her eyes, she was face to face with Seth whose eyes were no longer blue but a deep red almost the color of blood.
Seth stared at Gatomon who had a very shocked looked look on her face. This was understandable as his hand was around her neck but not tight enough to cause harm just to scare her.
"Do you ever think before you speak or just let your mouth run? Your rashness of questions to your daughter earlier was unacceptable, you made her feel as the job she was doing wasn't good enough, but its not your job to judge her" Seth stated glaring more into Gatomon's eyes to the point he could see tears forming.
Gatomon was too stricken with fear to do anything, those eyes had frozen her, she was afraid that if she moved it would be her last. She wasn't sure what to do but listen to what he said and that was true, she had no right to judge Lola, but she never meant to make it seem that way. Those thoughts brought tears to her eyes.
The two stayed in that position and in silence for a good few minutes. Seth was about to say something when he suddenly felt something hit his side and released Gatomon and fell to his knees holding his side. Gatomon looked to see who had hit him and there stood a Black Gatomon but instead of yellow eyes she had the same red eyes that matched Seth's.
She walked over to Seth who was still holding his side in pain. She helps him up and helps him over to the couch and sat him down, "I'll deal with you in a sec," and then walked over to Gatomon.
Gatomon was confused on how this digimon got into the house but at the same time was relieved that she saved her. "Who are you?"
The Black Gatomon looked at Gatomon then smiled, "Mom, it's me Lola."
Gatomon got a shocked look on her face, "Lola, but how?"
Lola looked over at Seth, "I sensed he was in trouble and next I knew I was out here like this and saw he had u by the neck and just punched him, but he will be ok."
"What's wrong with him?" Gatomon asked.
"Not completely sure, but then again, he won't talk to anyone but me, so we can't figure out what's wrong." Lola replied.
"Has anything like this happened before?" Gatomon asked
"I think maybe once or twice, its usually never long and he's certainly never pinned anyone against the wall like that." Lola replied.
"I see, why don't you go get him some pain meds from the bathroom and ill keep an eye on him," Gatomon replied.
Lola nodded her head and went to the bathroom to get the meds while her mom watched her tamer.
Gatomon walked over to Seth not sure what to do but knew something was bothering him and she was determined to find out what it was. As she got closer to him, she could see that he had his head down clearly not wanting to make eye contact with her after what he just did.
Gatomon walked stood in from of him and lifted his head and stared into his once again blue eyes.
"First of all, I'm not mad, but I want you to talk to me. I can tell something is bothering you and I want to know what," Gatomon said calmly.
Seth looked into Gatomon's eyes and took a deep breath, "I know the only way for your daughter to get stronger is to go the digital world, but I can't go back there."
Gatomon let go of his head, "I understand but she is there to protect you, there is no reason to be scared."
"So was Lobo and because of me he is dead," Seth snapped back.
Gatomon took a deep breath, "That's our jobs, to protect our tamers at all costs, even if it means we die so they could live."
Seth lowered his head again and stared at the ground, "he was than just a partner, he was my friend."
Gatomon wrapped her arms around him, "I know he was, he was practically Patomon's and I first child."
The two sat in silence for a few minutes and Gatomon eventually let him go.
Seth looked up at looked her in the eyes, "Can I ask you a question?"
Gatomon smiled, "Sure anything you want."
"Why are you and Patamon living here in the real world instead of the digital world with all the other digimon?" he asked.
Gatomon took a deep breath, "Well that's a long story, but I did say you could ask me anything. Well back when your mom and dad were still dating and they both were in the final year of their studies, your mom teaching and your dad for writing, they got an apartment together and a couple months after they had moved in your mom found out she was pregnant and got really scared and had locked herself in the bathroom and wouldn't come out no matter how hard your dad tried to talk her out. He came to the digital world and got Patamon and I and brought us back. I ran to the bathroom and after some time she let me and relocked the door. After a few minutes of us talking I managed to convince her to come out and tell your dad what was bothering her. So, while they talked, I talked with Patamon and we decided that we would stay as long as they needed us too. We let them know and they both seemed relieved that we wanted to stay. Ever since then we never have wanted to go back on a permeant basis."
After hearing the story Seth smiled and hugged Gatomon, "Thank you for being there for our family."
Gatomon just smiled and hugged him back liking he was returning to his old self.
After a bit they broke the hug and Gatomon looked him in the eye one last time, "Now please tell me where you're going at night, so I don't have to worry."
Seth decided it was fine if she knew, "I've been going to some night classes at the library to make sure I'm caught up by the time I'm allowed to go back to school but seems I'm a bit above average. Tonight I go and take my tests to pass 11th grade and am on track to graduate with the high school this weekend."
Gatomon was shocked at what he said, considering she was thinking much worse, "That's great to hear, but why not tell your parents, I'm sure they would be glad to hear that news."
Seth thought a moment, "Because I can't tell them because I wont be home after this week."
Gatomon's face got more shocked than it was before, "What do you mean your leaving?"
Seth looked her right in the and his eyes turned red, "because a war started that I need to finsh and I don't know if I'm returning by the end. While captured I lost all ties to the crests of hope and light I had, I greeted death every night, but it never came. After Lobo's death something in me broke and I found a new crest that no one new existed and with its power I was able to escape."
Gatomon looked at him and seeing he was telling the truth, "What crest?"
Seth looked her in the eye, "the crest of the warrior, only down side is it has to agree to work with me or it will kill me."
