Chapter 4-His Memory
I woke up as my eyes squinted by the sun. I look upward and raised my hand over my head and yawned softly. I finally opened my eyes slowly to let the light gently so it wouldn't hurt my eyes. I look around and saw we were in the same spot where we talked last night.
"Good Morning, Rin." Nero said softly as he turned over a bit wave to capture my attention. I totally forgot about him there. I commemorated the last thing before I fell asleep was him watching over us for the night. I flushed as I quickly noticed and change state to look at Neru. She was still asleep.
That's right, these Akitas have power and so do I. After learning all this I kind of understood what they were saying. I look back at him and handed him a smile and wave back. "Good Morning to you too." I said.
The space between us felt a bit uneasy, so I got up slowly without waking up Neru and came up to the tree he was sitting at. I asked him if I could sit here and he just nodded his head. I moved down slowly and there was a silence, until both of us spoke at the same time, "So, um... how are you?" I expressed joy over how it was coincidence we said it at the same time. I told him I was good and asked him after, he replied the same thing.
I desired to know more about them and me, only I didn't want to be a burden to them. After all, they're here to help me find my brother. I look at him, "So I see you get along with your sister well. I was constantly jealous of my friends for having siblings while I was the only child." I said, looking at the sky wondering after I land up my lecture. I didn't expect a reply so quick that it startled me a bit.
"It was the only way we could protect each other. Once we found out who we were, we knew we had to run. Our parent died protecting us and told us to never survive against each other or our future will be a nightmare. Then from then we cling together and moved from town to town, looking for clues about who we were." He said explaining me a distressing memory. I felt spoiled, I didn't require him to tell me this if he felt down. I told him he didn't need to speak anymore about his past. "Here come the good part." he stated, interrupting, but I didn't mind. I listen as I still saw Neru asleep and it was almost sunrise."We found a family that knew our family, the ones who told us about everything." He said as I look back at him with a curious look on my face. He went on," It was how we meet you and your brother, your family told us all about us. Your parent took us in like we were their family as well, I didn't mind as long as I was with my sister. "
"Then you knew us back then?" I stated with a surprised voice. He merely smiled like it was a good memory he had saved. He nodded and told me we were all connected, from our family to his, and it was handed down to us. Some family had special bonds beside the siblings where we could help not just within our household, but the aces who were precisely like us. I was happy and relieved we wouldn't be enemy.
"We stood with your family until we were old enough to take charge of ourselves. As we said our goodbye." He said taking a flashback.
Flashback-Nero's POV
"No, don't leave me Nii-San" Rin said as she was holding on my leg. I knew how to handle her by now as I hutch down to give her a hug. I told her I would come back for her if you ever needed me. She smiled after her crying ceased. I would never forget that smile nor I would violate the promise we made. I found out my younger sister being a tsundere to her elder brother, Len.
He was old enough to read and usually tease my younger sis. If he get my sister mad, it's like world war 3. I laughed a little as I settle Rin onto the sofa. I was only 12 at that age, the same as her brother. Rin and my sister were the same age, 10. Our family must of had us in the same year as them.
"Let's play!" Rin nudge me on my shoulder and I couldn't say no. It would of been our last time we spent together. I asked her mother and she would let us go to play outside as she watched us. Her brother and my sister decided to come along with us.
We played until we were totally exhausted and Mrs. Kagamine gave us each a cool drink. She told us to come in at it was getting a bit late. As soon as we headed inside Rin went to the couch and passed out.
"She must be really tired," Mrs. Kagamine said, looking at her and then at me. "Thank you for playing with them one last time before you leave." I gave her a nod as I look at Rin with her sleepy face on. "Are you certain you don't want to stay with us a bit longer?" She asked, trying to induce us to stick around. I managed to nod my head no.
"It's alright, I don't want to burden you Mrs. Kagamine. I appreciated what you have done until now." I said, looking at Mrs. Kagamine and bow at her. She threw me a pleased look knowing she can't stop me for what I wanted to do. I didn't want to her to accept more responsibilities than she had to and it is best if we leave on our own. Mrs. Kagamine went to the front doorway as she waited for us to take our stuff. I looked at Rin one last time and looked around to make sure no one was there. I kissed her on the top of her head, "I won't forget the promise." as I pull the blanket over her and went to get my sister.
My sister, of course, didn't want part from them as much as I did. But I told her that we couldn't delay any longer. She sobs just like Rin, so alike those two. I attempted to console her, but spurned it and continue sobbing. Eventually, she gave up after a few minutes when Len gave her something he told her to go on in remembrance. She looked at it and gave Len a big hug as it shocked him, but he wasn't against it. I gave another laugh, I think this family does have some link. It was a keychain of a photo of him and Rin. He understood every bit I understood and I handed him a high-five as we exited his room.
"I'll keep this forever!" She said as she ran down the stairs in joy. I followed right behind her. Mrs. Kagamine helped her get her coat on as I saw Rin on the sofa sleeping. I was thinking of leaving something behind as well, but what. As I was thinking, I heard Mrs. Kagamine called out if I was ready and I told her I'll be there in a second. I discovered a bracelet on my wrist that I received from my mother. I never took it off once, but I was willing to give it to her. I slide it off and placed it on her wrist and said my goodbye.
"If you ever need any assistance, just stop by." Mrs. Kagamine said as she set my jacket around me and we maneuvered out the doorway. She made us a wave and I waved back as I held onto Neru's hand. She was too interested in the keychain that she didn't notice. I smiled and we went off.
Flashback Ended-
I looked up as I noticed the bright light in my eyes, so I blocked with my right hand. I noticed a black fancy bracelet that was in a shape of loops in one to another. I must of put this on before I left my house that day, I think. He noticed, "This bracelet, I don't know how I got it. I even tried asking my mom about it and she didn't know either. But I felt it was left by someone important so I saved it." I said looking at it. He smiled and I flushed a bit as I put my hand down when the light moved in a different direction. He looked away like he knew something, but he simply wouldn't tell me. "You know who it is?" I said nagging him more. He merely grinned and told me from a very particular someone. I got on top of him as I didn't realize, and I was about to nagged him to tell me who this person was, but I heard Neru's voice.
"Hey, what you guys up to?" She said looking at us funny. I was on top of Nero without realizing and quickly got off on him as we both recover our position. She expressed joy as she recalled it was amusing how we were coming on. "You guys ready?" as she held her katana and a keychain hanging from her katana's case. I didn't recognize it since it was my first time seeing a katana and its case closely. She looked at it and made a quick smile as I quickly noticed it while I was observing her. I face away quickly as she almost spotted me looking at her. Nero stand up and grab the bag like it was a feather and threw it over his shoulder to extend. I felt weird not carrying anything, then I asked him if he required help with the weight, but he merely nodded his head no and said he was alright.
We all standed in front of the gate as we look beyond the gate, the dark forest. "Ready?" She said as I nodded my head like yes and no. She waves her hand over my face saying it alright, we're here if anything happen. "We promised each other that we will protect you and your brother." She said as he nodded along. I shook my fear off and look straight ahead that was all dark.
I wasn't alone this time and I have to find who took my brother. Nero opens the gate with his spare hand as he punched the lock open and rip the chains away. The gate open slowly as we all walked in.
"Here they come..." Said by a soft, mysterious voice.
