Ruby's POV
"RUBY! GET OVER HERE!"' Nora excitedly shouted from the lounge, I emerged from the hallway and became very joyful.
"OH MY GOSH, I completely forgot about Ozpin," I looked at everyone one by one and started blurting out words, "did he do this manually? did he cast a spell? is this the work of the maidens?" Oscar chuckled in a very deep voice.
"Please Ruby, take a seat, I know this may seem very perplexing so I'll explain now,"
"And alarming and bizarre and really hard to believe over all!" Nora butted in.
"Its good to see you children still have your sense of humor, I know you've all been through tremendous hardship already, I'm sorry," everyone wore an expression of sadness at the boy, I replied.
"Like I mean, it's not your fault,"
"Its all my fault," Qrow stood up and walked around, "I told you once that I made more mistakes than any man, woman or child, and I wasn't exaggerating, for thousands of years I have walked the surface of Remnant, living, dying and reincarnating into a like-minded soul, the professor Ozpin you all met was not my first form, and clearly not my last, its… an extraordinary strenuous process on everyone involved,"
"So who, or what are you?" Jaune questioned after Oscar's explanation.
"I am the combination of countless men who've spent their lives trying to protect the people of Remnant," he paused to collect a cup that Qrow had given him, "with every rebirth, my soul is eventually merged with another, and I am changed, but my memories stay with me," he gazed in his reflection made by his coffee, "this curse was bestowed upon me by the gods, since I failed to stop Salem in the past," Ozpin looked up and looked very serious, "but we must stop her now,"
We looked among each other, processing his reply to Jaunes' question, I asked slowly,
"And how do we do that?"
"First we need to secure the relic of knowledge," his leg was crossed over his other one.
"THIS. IS. PERFECT!" Nora suddenly appeared in front of and was standing, "We were stuck at a dead end," her arms were crossed to make a 'x', "but now we can take. .Boy Ozpin, to Lionheart and have his set things straight!" she sounded very cheerful.
"Please don't call me that," Ozpin sounded very firm in his order.
"We're not sure if that's the best idea," Qrow said causing Nora to grumpily stomp back to her seat.
"But, I thought all the head masters took all their orders from you," Ren asked Ozpin.
"That was the intention, four lieutenants I can trust, especially in times of reincarnation, but Qrow told me about your meeting with Leonardo and the boy with the silver eye's threat, not only is he being rational but he's disobeying specific orders I gave him, I would say not to make any hasty moves but its now clear to me who's side he's on,"
"Oz, you'd normally play it safe, so why not play it safe now?" Qrow questioned.
"Oh believe me I do, I will make my decision when I speak to the boy, what was his name?"
"Kaigo," Jaune spoke up.
"Last name?" Ozpin asked exactly how Lionheart did.
"He doesn't… know," I sheepishly said.
"Excuse me?" he sounded very surprised.
"You heard correctly, Kaigo never learnt his last name," Qrow said in his usual gravely tone.
"Ahh, I see, well we have two steps ahead of us, the first is enlisting the aid of more huntsman," Ozpin ordered.
"But the Mystral council-" Ren began to talk, only to be cut off by Qrow.
"Doesn't own every huntsman in the kingdom, and I've been here enough times to know where we can find some more,"
"As long as they're trustworthy," the green eyed boy said.
"You can trust them to fight, I'll throw up a list tonight," Qrow put one foot on the table in front of him, causing the leg to snap off and a very late 'Gah!'
"Good luck with that!" Nora swiftly joked, Qrow grunted and began fixing the mess he made.
"After that, we can move onto step two," Ozpin walked across the four of us.
"What's step two?" Nora stood up and asked in confusion.
Ozpin spun around and wielded his cane.
"Getting you four into fighting shape!" We all looked at each other, startled by Ozpin's words.
"But, we already know how to fight," I said.
"You can fight as long you have Crescent Rose, but your still lacking in hand to hand combat," his cane was inches away from my face.
"Well…" my head was slightly tilted, "yeah!" I timidly replied.
"Mr. Arc I'm glad to see that you've improved but I'm sorry to say that you've yet to unlock your semblance," Jaune looked away with a pained expression.
"All of you still have a ways to go until you are ready to pose any threat against Salem and her forces, and though Oscar can give me temporary control, he'll need to strengthen his body and his aura," he paused as his cane was hoisted over his shoulder, "he'll inherit my muscle memory in time, but practise will expedite the process." His cane was now planted firmly on the ground, supporting his weight.
"But if Qrow's out looking for Huntsman, then who's going to teach us," I questioned.
Ozpin slammed his cane on the ground and with that force alone, he was sent flying on top of the couch behind him,
"Well, I believe I was the headmaster of Beacon of Academy," he was spinning his weapon with ease as we all looked at him, stunned at his stunt, "we have approximately one month before classes begin at Haven, if Salem were to plan an attack, then it'll make sense that it will occur prior to when students return, its not much time but it's better than nothing,"
"What about Kaigo?" Ren asked, snapping us back into reality.
"Ahh, Kaigo, even though his weapon is not the slightest bit mechanical, he really puts the four of you to shame, perhaps I will have him monitor you lessons," Ozpin sounded very cocky.
"Uhh, no thank you, I'm sure we'd rather be taught by PROFESSOR OZPIN himself," Nora yelled.
"Just don't expect me to go easy on you, oh and would you all mind if you left for the time being," Ozpin asked.
"Why?" Jaune replied.
"I just want to get to know the child better," he sat down on the sofa he was stationed upon.
"But-" I was cut off by my Uncle.
"Ruby, you heard the man," Qrow said.
So one by one, we all made our way outside and decided to head to the city.
Kaigo's POV
"Hey Kaigo," my slumber was interrupted and I woke up, frustrated, "wake up,"
I tossed and turned myself in my bed, not interested in listening who I presumed to be Qrow.
"Hey, Ozpin wants to see you,"
"Why?" I groaned like a child.
"Just wake up," he pulled the blanket off me, sending a cold sensation throughout my body.
"Qrow! why'd you do that?" I sat up, enraged by his action.
"So you can see Ozpin!" he put the blanket down and opened the door "god you can be worse than Ruby sometimes," he mumbled as he exited the room.
I stepped off my bed and made my way to the lounge.
"Ah, greetings child, what might your name be,"
"Kaigo, just Kaigo," I swiftly said while sitting down, Ruby and the others weren't present at the moment, it was me, Ozpin and Qrow.
"That silver eye looks quite fascinating, was it a natural occurrence?" Ozpin questioned.
"No, I possessed my brother for a lifetime!" I sounded very disrespectful.
"It seems you are not interested in small talk," Ozpin leant forward and sounded more serious,
"Yep," I quickly replied.
"Listen Kaigo, I want to know you better, besides, we are similar beings in which that we hone two souls," he sounded very caring, however this spiked up my rage.
"No. We're. Not. I chose to possess my brother for a lifetime, okay, I chose to live like this, where as you crammed your soul into Oscar's by force," I paused in order to calm down, "so tell me Ozpin, are we really similar?"
"My, I've never met such a disobedient child before," he chuckled.
"I want an answer," I demanded
"Later, Qrow told me that you had a… unique interaction with Leonardo, is this true?" he finally started to get to the point.
"Yeah, as soon as I entered his office, I felt Dr. Watts' presence, so I took it upon myself to try and interrogate him,"
"Do you have any proof?" the boy asked.
"Yeah, I saw them conversing with Salem, but now that I think about it that's not really proof," I rubbed the back of my head with a smile on my face.
"Before you fought with Qrow, you mentioned that you spent your previous 16 years in a forest then a cell, if this is indeed true, then how are you such an experienced fighter?"
"During my time in the forest, my dad worked me and my brother to the bone at a very young age,"
"Your brother… didn't you say you possessed him?" Oscar questioned, still sounding very firm with his words.
"Yeah… my semblance is possession, I can possess a soul for as long as I like for the cost of my lifespan," I looked at my left hand, "and back then, I used my entire life to possess him," My tone was very sorrowful.
"And what about your brothers semblance, is it in your hands for you to control?"
"Yeah… but every time I use it, Utsu tries to gain control of his body again," I said before the silver flame ignited in my left eye, creating fauness ears, claws, a tail and two long skinny pupils embedded in my eyes "I'm pretty sure that my silver eye just boosts the semblances' power, that's why a flame sprouts from it," I took a deep breath as I reverted back to my human form.
"Alright, Kaigo I'll have you train to gain control of your brothers semblance," he stood up and extended a hand towards me, I grabbed it and stood up as well and said,
"I'm sorry…"
"For what reason?"
"For acting so disrespectful at the start of our conversation,"
"It's alright, disrespect can be purged, but anger and hatred will remain, keep that in mind when confronting you brother,"
I nodded and headed to the exit, I made my way outside wandered around a bit until I found a forest in the distance. I casually strolled towards it and found a spot where I could meditate, I took the music player from my pocket and put the two earphones in my ears, I sat down, closed my eyes and played the song.
"Utsu?, you their?" I spoke in my mind to try and gain his attention.
"What'd you want, don't you remember last time when you hurt your friend?" he taunted, trying to spike my anger, however I remained calm and asked.
"What's your goal?"
"What's it to you?" he spat out.
"If I'm going to change you, then I need to know what you want to do,"
I felt his mental prowess quiver due to my statement, I took this chance to sprout the silver fauness ears from my skull, I felt as if they were in complete control.
"You won't change me, you can't handle my lust, remember last time?" Utsu sounded very desperate to end this conversation.
"Let me try again, I know you don't want to be considered a bad person for the rest of your life do you?"
"YOU ALREADY CONSIDER ME AS ONE, I KILLED MOM AND DAD!" Utsu exclaimed.
"Someone told me once that they still protect me through my knife, and you help me fight through my left eye, through the scar, besides we're practically two minds in one, so please, tell me what do you want to do?" I replied as calmly as possible to his fit.
"...I-" rustling in the bush cut my connection with my brother.
I opened my eyes and the faint notes of the song became much more clear, I paused it and scanned my body, I got as far as gaining my ears and tail, I grunted as I knew this was not enough to fight at full strength.
The bushes rustled again, this time, much clearer due to my sharpened sense, I honed in on the sound and approached the bush, I peered over it only to see jaws aimed for face.
I jumped back and put my right hand on my knife's hilt, my sight focused on an animal, it was a tiger, with a silver coat, black stripes and ripe amber eyes. It also focused on my features, trying to gather info on me, I scanned his body and saw a mighty scarr, engraved on his leg.
My eyes widened as I realised that this was no ordinary tiger, this tiger had its home and family taken away... by me.
Flickers of the night violated my vision, I was brought to a split second scene of me salvaging the dead tigers, leaving one to process the horrific murders he witnessed.
The beast let out a low growl, it seems he recognised who I was, I let out a heavy sigh as I said.
"Still alone? after all these years?" I straightened my spine and removed my grip from my knife, it imitated me and also eased his current position.
"Do you trust me? after what I did to you? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't," I smirked as I slowly approached it, the tiger, it stayed dormant but let out a vicious growl.
"I was lucky enough to meet people who helped me break out of my shell, perhaps I can help you as well," I extended my hand out to try and stroke it, to try and attempt to let it know that it could be safe with my, and the others help.
My hand was a few inches away before I felt his jaws sink into my hand in a split second, I tensed up, but immediately relaxed, I could see in it's eyes that it wanted revenge, so I didn't struggle, I stood their and allowed it to feast upon my hand.
It didn't take the tiger long to realise that I wasn't shrieking in pain, he retracted his jaws from my hand and took a few steps back.
"You done? now do you see how pointless your act was?" I questioned, I knew that this animal was very wise in terms of communication and survival, so I knew he would of realised that the trend of revenge would never end if he carried out his.
He sat down and flapped his tail around, I extended my crooked hand and placed it upon his skull, I sat down and mumbled.
"Feel better now?"
Sorry that you all had to come back to a boring chapter after a week wait. Quick note, I've added some extra bits to chapters 2 and 3, so you can read them if you want.
