Hey :) I finished my paper and finally got back to writing though this chapter (so sorry that it is so very short) is still a try to get back into the flow. :3 The next ones will (hopefully) be longer again.
I don't really have an idea where this really came from, but I wanted to write it and hope you'll like it. :) If you own a cat, you might know what I'm talking about ... if you don't, ... hm, get a cat and find out. xD
Disclaimer: I own three cats, but that is it. The typos are mine as well.
Many centuries ago, pale skin had been a sign of royalty and while Magnus could see the beauty of a pale complexion, he found it very frustrating that the people all those years ago tried to acquire such paleness by hiding every strip of skin unter fabric. They never had a chance to experience the beauty of the light of a rising sun painting pale skin with streaks of orange and red.
Magnus smirked as he turned his head. "What a shame." The words were barely a whisper on his lips, his gaze shamelessly wandering across smooth pale skin.
Alec was still fast asleep, laying on his back, his head turned towards Magnus. His lips were slightly parted though he mostly breathed through his nose, and the orange-colored rays of the rising sun painted warm patterns across his evenly raising and falling chest.
If Magnus were to be honest with himself, he'd have to admit that he was scared ever since they had returned from Alicante. His loft had been the same as he had left it. Chairman Meow had greeted him like he always did when he had been gone for a while by graciously ignoring the warlock. A sense of normality had clung to the place that had him questioning if what had happened in Idris had been real.
And maybe that was the reason Magnus had woken to the first sign of a sunrise this morning though he usually definitely was not an early bird; never had been and never would be. Maybe he was scared that Alec would be gone whenever a new morning rolled around, whenever Alec wasn't with him, whenever Magnus as much as took his eyes of him or even blinked. Maybe he was scared to wake up to cold and empty sheets next to him. Maybe.
"But you are here", the warlock whispered and reached out, not quite able to hold himself back. His fingertips gently brushed against the black locks that were a mess and he felt the urge to mess them up even more. They were warm, heated up by the shy sunlight peeking over the horizon. Magnus continued, tracing the line of Alec's high cheekbones, his jaw and finally getting back again, barely touching the bridge of the shadowhunters nose.
That was when Alec stirred and, afraid to have woken him, Magnus quickly took his hand away though only a little bit. Alec's eyes remained closed and soon he was laying still again, taking slow, deep breaths. Magnus led out the breath he'd been holding because the last thing he wanted to do on their vacation was to wake Alec up too early. He was already surprise that the blue-eyed teen actually was still asleep. Well, he wasn't complaining if Alec developed a bit of a 'Lazy morning'-attitude on their vacation, he was just wondering.
A few heartbeats passed before Magnus decided that it was safe for him to continue. A lazy smile tugged at his lips. Who would have thought that things turned out like that? The tip of his index finger wandered down Alec's forehead, lightly brushing the bridge of his nose again - this time Alec didn't stir - and finally reaching the tip of his nose, but before Magnus could continue his way further down, something unexpected happened.
With a quick, short movement of his head Alec nudged Magnus index finger. But he didn't do it as one would maybe try to get rid of an annoying fly. He did it the way the Chairman often did it when he demanded to be petted.
Alec's head moved again, nudging Magnus' fingertips which the warlock hadn't moved in any way, frozen by surprise.
"Nyuuu..."
Magnus' eyes grew wide as he watched Alec rolling over so he was lying on his side and edging closer to Magnus in the process. Again he nudged Magnus' fingertips and this time the warlock moved. Carefully he lowered them and brushed against Alec's skin along the straight line of his nose.
"Nyuuuuuuuu..."
Magnus repeated the gesture and every time Alec got closer to him by stretching his throat. When their face had hardly an inch between them, Magnus moved his hand, his fingertips ghosting across Alec's right temple before burying it in the coal-black hair.
A nose escaped Alec's throat of which Magnus was sure that it was the closest a human being could get to a cat's purr.
"You have got to be kidding me", Magnus muttered and lightly placed his hand on Alec's waist, absent-mindedly caressing the skin there by moving his thumb in slow circles. "I am supposed to be the cat-like one in this relationship, sweetheart."
"Nyuuuuuhuuu...", Alec lazily answered, though he would passionately any of that later that day.
Leave a review because I LOVE them. :) And also a very big THANK YOU to everyone he has already left one. :D (I read all of them ... at least twice ... a day.) Btw, I love teasing my own cats by stroking their noses. :D
Mads-Hatter-15, radiohysterie, Satyana: I hope you liked this little 'prelude' of the journey-One-Shots. :)
Okay, Wanted and TMWYK? are up next on the list.
