I don't own Naruto at all

A/N: okay, here's the fourth chap of this. I want to thank Psudocode Samurai for giving me the suggestions so I can continue this.

Chapter 4: Detective Ino & the Youthful Matchmaker

It has been two weeks since Naruto and Tenten's last training session, the one where they kissed. Both were avoiding each other and though Tenten did drop Naruto's sword off at his door, she made sure he wasn't home when she delivered it.

Of course the rest of Konoha 11 noticed. Hinata was pleased by this since this meant she still had a chance with her Naruto. Sakura was glad that things seemed to be back to normal now. But Ino, well, Ino wanted to get down to the bottom of what had happened to make Naruto and Tenten start avoiding one another.

The Yamanaka heiress would first start with Tenten. She thought since Tenten was a girl it would be easy to weasel information out of her.

"Hey Tenten" Ino greeted.

Tenten looked up from the shinobi magazine she was reading about new kunai throwing techniques.

"Hey Ino, what can I do for you today? She asked.

She was working the counter in a weapons shop that her family owned, which she worked part time between missions.

"Just stopped by to chat. Haven't seen you for a while" Ino said.

"I've been okay" Tenten said.

"So what's been going on with you lately?" Ino asked.

"Nothing much, going on missions and such" Tenten said with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Ah come on, we both know I know about you and my fellow blond training together. So what's the story going on there?" Ino asked decided to go straight to the point. She really wanted to know.

"And that's what's going on. Naruto and I are just training" Tenten said as she tried to forget about the kiss she and Naruto shared. It was an amazing kiss, She could still feel the tingling sensation running through her body whenever she thought about and she thought about it a lot when she was alone.

Ino though wasn't pleased. She could just smell there was something more going. She just had to pounce on it when she saw it.

"Come on, there has to be more than that. I mean, this is Naruto we're talking about. The loud mouth dead last" the Yamanaka heiress said.

"He may still be a loud mouth Ino, but you of all people know Naruto isn't a dead last any more. He's probably stronger than all of us" Tenten said firmly.

Okay, that route was a bust Ino thought.

"Why are you so interested in what Naruto and I do?" Tenten asked.

"Because I am your friend and Naruto's friend too. I'm just curious on what's going on" Ino said.

"Well there's nothing going on, nothing" Tenten said firmly.

"Then why haven't you two been training together as of late?" Ino asked.

Tenten paused at this and Ino smirked.

Yes, victory is close to being mine! she thought.

Tenten though was trying to come up with a reason why she and Naruto haven't trained for a while, but nothing was coming to her.

"Oh, something happened didn't it? Ino knew that something had happened and something big. Ino is never wrong. So tell Ino what happened" Ino said now talking in third person for some reason.

"We, um- we're, it's just um" Tenten sputtered out.

Ino though had a keen sense of deciphering certain things. It took a bit then her eyes went wide.

"YOU AND NARUTO KISSED!" she shouted.

Tenten leapt over the counter and clamped a hand over Ino's mouth.

"If you breath a word of this to anyone, and I mean anyone, I will show you personally and very, very painfully why I am the weapons mistress of Konoha" Tenten hissed into Ino's ear.

Ino just nodded. She knew never to get on the wrong side of Tenten. She's seen what Tenten can do.

"Good, now go" Tenten said then released Ino.

Ino left with her mind racing. This was some exciting news.

/Scene Break/

"WHAT!?" Sakura shouted.

Ino smiled proudly. She was at Sakura's place with Hinata. Sakura and Hinata were having tea when Ino burst in with her news.

"That's right, Naruto and Tenten kissed and that's why they've been avoiding each other" Ino said smugly.

Hinata crawled into herself. She couldn't believe her Naruto had kissed Tenten. It wasn't right. This couldn't stand. Now she knew she wouldn't confront Tenten about this, but she had to do something, but she wasn't sure what yet.

"I don't believe you Ino-pig" Sakura said.

"It's true, I got it from the source" Ino said.

"Oh yeah, and who is your source?" Sakura asked.

"Tenten herself" Ino said.

Sakura choked on her tea hearing this.

"She told you?!" she said.

"Well not in words, but I knew it. You do know I am trained in many things since I am a Yamanaka and I can read people very well now" Ino said.

"I still don't believe it" Sakura said.

"Believe what you want, I found out the truth" Ino said proudly.

"Whatever" Sakura said.

"Um, maybe they d-did k-k-kiss, but t-they didn't like it a-and decided to a-avoid each other to give o-one another d-distance" Hinata suggested as deep in her heart she hoped what she was saying was true.

"No, that's not right. There was some kind of spark in that kiss and they both know it, but are avoiding each other since they're embarrassed" Ino said.

"And how do you know that Ino-pig?" Sakura asked.

"Easy forehead, I know human nature and psychology" Ino said.

Sakura huffed and Hinata looked depressed.

"Well I am off. I need to gather more information before deciding what to do next" Ino said then left.

Sakura sighed and shook her head.

"Why does Ino-pig have to be such a pain?" she asked.

Hinata said nothing since she was a bit depressed with this news.

/Scene Break/

Naruto was sitting at his favorite spot. On top of the Hokage monument, more specifically the Fourth's head. This is where he came to think, to reflect, where he just needed some peace and quiet in his life.

"Heyyyyyy, Naruto!"

Naruto fell back as he yelped. He got back up to find Ino there standing in front of him. How the hell did she get in front of him?

"What do you want Ino, and for goodness sake can you from now on wear a bell or something so I know where you're coming from" Naruto said.

"Yeah whatever. So how have you been doing?" Ino asked ignoring Naruto's comments.

"Why do you care?" Naruto asked.

"Naruto, I know we haven't be on friendly terms really, but I do care about you" Ino said.

Naruto sighed. He was just too nice of a guy sometimes.

"I'm doing alright Ino" he said.

"That's all, 'doing alright'," Ino said.

"Yeah, what else is there to tell" Naruto said.

"Oh, how about the kiss you and a certain weapons mistress shared together" Ino said with a smirk.

Naruto nearly fell off the Fourth's head hearing this. He began to sputter and deny.

/Scene Break/

Meanwhile in a weapons shop Tenten felt the urge to kill a certain longhaired blond with big mouth. She began sharpening and polishing all of her pointy objects.

/Scene Break/

"Who told you?" Naruto asked.

"Oh, I just heard it around" Ino said nonchalantly.

"Uh, well, whatever you heard was a rumor. Yeah, a rumor" Naruto said pleased with himself for thinking of a way out of this.

"Come on Naruto. I know it's not a rumor so spill. How did it all happen" Ino said.

Naruto though was stubborn and wasn't going to say. Ino tried everything, even tried bribing Naruto with free ramen and he still held firm. This meant to Ino that this was a very juicy thing if Naruto said no to free ramen.

"Fine, I may have not broken you today Naruto Uzumaki, but I will and that's a promise" Ino said then stormed away.

Naruto let out a sigh. He needed to talk to Tenten. Though he had spent a lot of his time avoiding her every chance he could this he needed to go see her about.

/Scene Break/

Ino was still working on things when she ran into Lee and when I mean she ran into Lee I really mean that Lee ran into Ino since he was doing another of his crazy training runs.

"Ow, watch where you're going Lee" Ino groaned as she slowly made her way back up.

"I am sorry Ino, but sometimes I can't contain my youthful flames" Lee said.

"Um yeah, okay" Ino said.

"So what is troubling you Ino. It can't be anything my flames of youth can't handle" Lee said as he struck a pose.

Ino slowly backed away from Lee. Most likely to give her some distance from Lee she wouldn't catch any of Lee's Youthful nature. She made a mental note to take a shower when she got home just in case she got any on herself.

"It's just that I am working on something with Naruto and Tenten" the longhaired blond said.

"Yosh, yes Naruto and Tenten. Their youth flames of youth shine together. I will get them together. If I fail then I shall do two thousand push-ups with four boulders on my back and if I shall fail a second time I shall run around Konoha five thousand times" Lee announced.

Ino stepped back even further so she definitely wouldn't catch the craziness that Lee was spouting. But that did give her an idea. Matchmaker, the idea did have merit to it. But she'd have to be careful how to do it. As shinobi Tenten and Naruto would be wary of things. Yes, it will take some careful planning indeed. She left Lee in the middle of the street still spouting off nonsense.

/Scene Break/

It has been a few weeks and Ino was no closer to getting more info. But this didn't deter her at all. Meanwhile on the other side of things Lee was in his room. He had many pieces of paper tacked up on his wall as he was planning on getting Naruto and Tenten together into what he deemed a 'very youthful union'.

"Yes, another most youthful plan" Lee exclaimed as he jotted down what he deemed another brilliant plan.

He stuck it onto the wall grinning.

/Scene Break/

"Welcome to the Wolf Claw Weapon Shop how may I- Oh, Naruto" Tenten said a bit shocked seeing the sunny blond entering.

"Hey Tenten, I think we should talk" Naruto said.

"Why, there's nothing to talk about" Tenten said coolly.

Naruto winced. Okay, he deserved that for kissing her then leaving her like that. But he pushed on through.

"Look Tenten, you're my friend and I don't like whatever this is going on with us. Can't we just, I don't know, pretend what I did never happened and go back to training together" he said rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous manner.

Tenten looked at Naruto and then sighed. He just had to look so pitiful and she didn't have the heart to be mad at him even though he had given her the best kiss she had ever gotten then left her.

"Okay Naruto, lets meet at our usual training ground tomorrow" she said.

"Great, see ya" Naruto said with a smile then bolted off.

Tenten shook her head and got back to work.

/Scene Break/

So Naruto and Tenten's training resumed. Both acted like nothing had happened, like there wasn't a period where they had avoided each other. Ino seemed pleased with this. Mainly since this would help in her schemes. Lee also liked what was going on too.

"Lee, what are you wearing?" Neji asked.

Neji was asking since Lee was wearing a grey trench coat that covered his usual green spandex. He also was wearing a fedora in the same grey color to complete the look. Lee looked just like those detective you see in those old black & white detective movies.

"Yosh, Neji my youthful teammate. I am on a most youthful mission" Lee said in his usual exuberance.

This made Neji raise an eyebrow. Lee opened his mouth to speak, but Neji stopped him by holding up a hand.

"I don't even want to know Lee" he said.

Lee frowned, but then nodded as he dashed off with his trench coat flaring out around him.

Hmm, that's kind of cool. Maybe I should wear a trench coat too Neji thought.

/Scene Break/

"Ino, what are you doing?" Sakura asked.

"Hey forehead, I am working on how to get Naruto and Tenten together" Ino said with excitement.

Sakura closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Okay, why?" she asked.

"Because those two are so cute together. I know they belong together" Ino said firmly.

"Ino, you're reading too much into this" Sakura said.

"I am not, and I'll prove" Ino said stubbornly.

Sakura just sighed.

This one took me a long time to write since at first didn't know where to go from my last chap, but thanks again to Psudocode Samurai for giving me ideas to continue this. Now I am unsure when the next chap will be up since it took so long to post this one. So for fans of this one please be patient as I try and work my way through this.
