Hey everyone! I know it's been A LONG TIME since i've updated this story and i apologize! Life got crazy ... relationships, family deaths, myself growing and expanding ... and ... writers block lol. I got really stuck with this story, but I know now where its going to go and how it will develop, so hopefully I will be updating more!

Sorry its short ... also the prophecy at the end is sort of lame but its the best I could think of ... writers block is still hitting hard.

So read, enjoy, review, and favorite! You all are great for sticking around and I thank you so much for that! You are AWESOME!

Also I do not own Harry Potter, obviously all rights and such remain with Rowling! Except Katya ... she's mine :P

Bellatrix had returned herself and the girl back to their manor to find Rodolphus sent out on a raid. Bellatrix waited; she waited in the drawing room with Katya sitting on the plush black velvet couch. Katya watched as her new mother paced the length of the room continuously, mulling over the new found information of the girl's power.

"Katya …" Bellatrix addressed the girl carefully, " How long have you been able to do that?"

Katya looked down, wringing her hands together nervously. Bellatrix crossed the room quickly, kneeling before the sofa and holding the girl's hands in her own.

"Look at me little one," the girl slowly raised her grey eyes to meet those of near black brown, "I'm not angry with you."

"I only did it today, I promise to never do it again!" Katya answered frantically.

Bellatrix's eyes grew wide, "Oh no, sweet girl, you're not in trouble! It's amazing that you can do that!" she felt an odd feeling tighten in her chest, "I'm so … proud" she finished with a genuine smile.

"Really?" Katya's eyes grew wide at the affection.

Bellatrix answered with the same smile and a nod, giving the girl's hands a tight squeeze. Just as they finished the exchange they heard the giant double doors swing open, and both looked to see Rodolphus striding threw the opening. She jumped to her feet and rushed to meet her husband, pulling him close and quietly informing him of the day's events. The dark man looked on at the young girl sitting nervously on the sofa. He walked over to Katya, picking her up off the sofa and whispering something in her ear to make her giggle. Setting her down she ran into the middle of the room yelling excitedly that she was going to do the magic again.

"Are you sure she will be alright?" Bellatrix asked concerned as her husband joined her side.

"We will be able to turn her back if she can't do it herself, but I think she will have no problem with it," he answered giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.

Katya stood in the middle of the room, squeezing her eyes tightly closed in concentration. She felt the familiar tingling in her toes and fingertips, she felt herself nearing the dark wood floor and she opened her eyes to see a small fly in her peripheral vision. Turning she lunged at the fly swinging around big clunky, feline paws. Katya froze. Cat paws?! Bellatrix's eyes grew wide in surprise.

"Bellatrix … What's wrong? I thought you saw her do this earlier?" Rodolphus asked confused.

"I-I did … except … this afternoon … she was a fawn!"

Rodolphus looked between the two, Katya prancing around clumsily with her fluffy paws and Bellatrix watching in shock.

"I think we need to tell Him," he said somberly.

Katya never wanted to see the snake man again, and yet here she is waiting outside the great room at Malfoy manor to see him once again. Draco was standing with her keeping her company and trying to cheer her up.

"You'll be okay Kat, you just have to show him and then we can go play. Aunt Bella said last night you were a cat! Uncle Sirius can't be different animals, just a dog," Draco rambled as Katya bit her nails nervously.

"Don't bite your nails dear, It's unladylike," Narcissa grabbed the small hand and pulled it away from the girl's mouth.

She straightened Katya's dress and tucked a few stray hairs behind her small ear. Stepping back and looking the small child up and down, nodding as she approved of the girl standing in front of her. She noticed the wide doe like eyes staring at her with tears brimming at the water line.

"Katya …" She bent down to meet the girl's eyes, "You are going to be fine. Just remember … speak only when you are spoken to and remember your manners, yes?" the girl nodded frantically at her as Bellatrix emerged into the hallway.

"Katya? Are you ready?"

The girl ran and clung to her mother's side, "I'm scared," she whispered, hiding her face into the thick layers of the black dress Bellatrix was wearing.

Bellatrix picked her up and hugged her close before carrying her into the room filled with Death Eaters and the Dark Lord. She walked the length of the large table in the center of the room stopping at the side of the grand chair that Voldemort resided in. Setting Katya down she whispered sweet nothings into her ear before taking a few steps back to stand protectively behind her. Katya looked up and saw her father sitting in the chair to her right, and the Dark Lord sitting in the tall chair in front of her.

"So child," Voldemort began with a hiss, "I hear you have a great power within you."

"Yes sir," She answered timidly.

"Well … Let's see it then" he commanded with an irritated wave of his hand, "A Dragon of you please."

Katya turned desperately to her mother.

"It's going to be okay, just picture a dragon and think really hard!"

Katya turned back to face Lord Voldemort with her brow furrowed in determination. Like before she shut her eyes tight and pictured the dragon illustration from one of her books. When she opened her eyes and wriggled her clawed toes. She stretched long scaled neck up and looked into the red, snake eyes staring back at her. She started feeling an odd sensation in her stomach and felt a heat climbing up her throat. Her eyes grew wide and she let out a hiccup that was accompanied by a puff of fire. She shook her head as her nose began to itch and blew the smoke out of the nostrils at the end of her snout.

Voldemort couldn't believe it, the child had done it. In front of him stood, on all a fours, a black scaled dragon. The dragon was small, but knew that the animal form would grow with the child. As Katya turned her scales shown a hint of purple under the firelight of the torches that lined the wall of the great room. He sat back into his chair with an impressed smirk on his face as the girl stretched out the large purple wings on her back, Oh yes, he thought to himself, she will definitely help me on my way to victory. He leaned to his left and began speaking to Severus Snape about the girl before them, and the plans he had for her future.

Unaware to the occupants of the room but as Katya hopped around in her dragon form, the prophecy about light and dark was spoken and her destiny was set in motion.

Victory lies within her hands. The fight between Light and Dark will begin but will end with one. She is they key, the one that takes many forms.
