"Neji? What are you doing here?" Tenten asked with surprised. Her heart fluttering inside.
"I'm actually here to give you your homework that I collected from all the teachers." He said.
"But I thought I asked Hinata to do that for me?" she said as she let him in while trying to keep her cool.
"Yeah. She said she was busy and couldn't it that's why I had to collect it." He replied her question while placing the huge pile consisting of schoolwork and homework for 5 days on her desk.
"Uh, do you need any help?" He asked as he turned back to Tenten who was awkwardly leaning on the other side of her desk.
"Yeah. I think I do." She replied to him after looking through the pile to realize that she didn't understand half of these papers. Not looking his way at all.
"Alright then, where do you want to do it?" He asked.
"The dining table would be great." She said after gathering the pile of paper, with her schoolbag strap on to her right shoulder while pocketing her phone on her right-back pocket of her denim shorts.
Neji followed her out the door carrying half the pile load after much insistence.
When they reached the dining table, the table wasn't set yet but ended up studying in the living room, as it was almost dinner. She moved sat on one side of the table on the floor while Neji sat next to her. She just scooted a little further from him to keep a fair distance. 'Wouldn't want Kimiko shouting at me for being to close to her boyfriend now would I.' Tenten thought.
"Which one do you need help with?" Neji asked her after they got settled with their textbooks on one side and their notebooks on the other.
"This one. How do you get X?" She asked confused after reading a question and attempted on it.
"Well, you see. You have to take this number, multiplied it by 25 then divide by 12 and take the square root of it to get the final answer." He said while writing up the numbers and coming out with the answer. Boxing the final answer.
"Oh. I get it!" Tenten exclaimed after looking at the steps Neji wrote on a piece of scrap paper.
After about 45 minutes of working hard to reduce the pile of papers Tenten was called for dinner.
"Coming!" Tenten shouted to her mom.
"Are you staying for dinner, Neji?" She turned to the only other occupant in the whole room.
"Uh, I guess so. If you don't mind." He shrugged. He had never felt this nervous talking to a girl at all.
"You know I wouldn't Nej. Let's go then." She said as she got up and looked back at her.
They both made their way to the dining table. Tenten's mom and dad (Wei-Tian and Kei*) along with Hidan, who just came in the house 5 minutes earlier, and Kimiko. The table was quite a long table. It was to accommodate friends and other families if it was a celebration or some sort.
Kei was seated on the head of the table. Wei-Tian was on his right side and Hidan on his left side. Kimiko was next to Wei-Tian. Since the only ones being set up was next to Kimiko and Hidan, Tenten walked up to the one next to Hidan. Leaving Neji sitting next to Kimiko. 'Let's see how it's gonna go.' She thought.
Neji sighed softly before taking the seat by Kimiko. None of them talked at all. And Tenten jumped in as an opportunity to make Kimiko feel worst.
"Oh! I'm sure you guys don't know each other yet," She started as she looked to Neji and Kimiko.
"Neji, this is Kimiko," she pointed to Kimiko "and Kimiko, this is Neji." She pointed to Neji.
"Yeah. We know each other." Kimiko replied while Neji just looked at his plate of food, his eyes not meeting anybody's.
"Oh really? How?" Tenten fake-surprised, pretending to be more interested in that than her food.
"Uhh, well." She stuttered.
"Enough," Her father said. "Let's not do this on the table, alright Ten?" Kei looked at his only daughter.
"Doing what?" Tenten questioned her dad with her big-doe eyes.
"Never mind. Let's just eat." Her mom smiled as she looked at Tenten.
"How was your day, Kimiko?" Wei-Tian asked Kimiko.
"It was alright. Nothing special happened much today. It was uneventful." Kimiko said as she played around with the food on her plate.
"Oh yeah? Maybe it's because you didn't get your daily dose of Hyuga-ass. Slut." Tenten said so softly under her breath. She thought no one heard her but Hidan did.
"How bout you mother?" Tenten looked to her mother.
"Was your day uneventful like Kimiko's?" she asked her mother, stressing on the adjective used to describe Kimiko's day as if to mock her.
"It was a pleasant day today. I got my daughter back from the out of the hospital and into her room in her house again, after all." Wei-Tian smiled before taking a bit of her dinner.
"Its good to be back! But, that would mean I lose the bet to Hidan-nii." She pouted while turning to her older brother, who was indeed smirking.
"I knew you wouldn't stand a month staying without mom and dad!" He chuckled while messing up her hair. He was chuckling but it was all-fake. How could he when all he wanted was to release his frustrations.
"Well, I'm sure I had about 2 more days or something. Right?" Tenten looked at Kimiko. Kimiko felt someone staring and looked up from her plate to find Tenten staring at her. Tenten's stare gave her a question asking her to answer the question.
"Y-yeah." Kimiko stuttered, answering Tenten.
"I kinda forgot why I went back home. Care to refresh?" She asked as she eyed everyone on the table. They all just looked really uncomfortable.
"Maybe later." Hidan replied her, hitting her on her side, telling her that he know what she was trying to do.
The rest just replied with silence. Throughout the whole dinner, Neji just clammed up and didn't even dare say anything. Not with Hidan shooting imaginary daggers to his beings.
When Tenten finally realizes that nobody else was going to reply her, she said 'Okay' and went back to her food. She put her face down to concentrate on her food.
'Mission Accomplished.' She thought to herself while a she smirked. No one saw it. No one, except for Hidan.
The whole time, Hidan was trying to hold on to his temper. Not wanting to burst in front of his sister who just got discharged from the hospital. But, you should know that the only thing he wanted to do was pummel Hyuga's face until he bleed to death.
After the very awkward dinner, Neji and Tenten went back to studying in the living room. Since, Kimiko didn't know, she walked in to the living room and watched TV since she finished her food earlier than the two of them.
She didn't see the books on the coffee table because Tenten made one of the maids move it to a tall wooden table near the coffee table. It was so that she could make Kimiko more uncomfortable than she already was.
"Okay. So, going back to that stinkin' paper." Tenten whined as she walk pass the threshold of the living room while looking at Neji who was just chuckling. He was actually having fun tutoring Tenten. But, it all went down the drain when he saw who was in the living room.
Tenten who had already anticipated this just pretended to be the surprised victim, again. But, not now. Later.
Neji became quiet and walked to the table where the papers were behind Tenten. Though, she made a detour to the drink fridge.
"What do you want Neji? We've got water, juice, soda and beer." Tenten asked Neji while looking through the fridge reciting whatever beverage she saw in that said fridge.
"I'll have whatever you are having then." He replied. 'He's saying that, but I know he wanted the beer more than anything.' Tenten thought.
"Okay then. Water for me and beer for you." Tenten took the two bottles holding it from the body with both of her hands while closing her fridge door with her right foot.
Neji looked up at her as she threw him a bottle opener. He catches it and placed it on the table.
"But, I said I'd have whatever you'd have." He looked at her confused.
"I know you enough to know that you would pick beer over soda, water and juice any day, Nej." She looked at his for a second before turning to her bottled water.
"Anyway, let's start!" She said as she took a seat next to where Neji was sitting at.
In the middle of her working on her paper, she used this as a chance to make her and possibly him uncomfortable.
"By the way, Kimiko. You never actually told me how you know Neji. I mean, because you are in college so there was no way you would know about him."
Tenten paused her work and turned to her 'sister.'
"Well, uhmm…" She stuttered. Playing with her hands and not looking back at Tenten.
"Wait. Don't tell me. I know this!" She faked enthusiasm while smiling while looking back at Kimiko and Neji. Making them more uncomfortable than before. 'Good.' She thought while her smile turned to a smirk.
"You guys are dating!" she exclaimed. "Right?" she looked at Neji then Kimiko then the bottled water in her hands, as she knew what she just said made her eyes become glassy.
"You should've just told me that you liked older girls, Neji!" She looked to him and hit his shoulder.
"Wait. No. Its not it! We aren't together." Neji said as he looked at Tenten's glassy eyes.
"No. Seriously. You don't have to lie for my sake. Both of you." Tenten said as she walked to the fridge to get a bottle of coke from it. She refrained from grabbing a beer bottle and chugging it, as it would just give those two what they want.
"But, hey! I think I can manage this myself so, why don't we just stop here for today and I'll just ask around my friends tomorrow. Seriously. It's no big deal. I'm good at catching up anyway." She ended with a smile. A fake one, of course.
She started packing up her stationeries and stacked the papers, notebooks and textbooks to respective piles. As she tried stacking them, a pair of hands stopped her. She looked up to see Neji with an unrecognizable expression on his face.
"Ten. Hey. Let's keep going. I don't mind." He said softly, as he looked at her eyes, slightly pleading her to let him stay.
"Well, I do. And, I promised the girls I'd skype them anyway. So, that's okay." She slightly smiled as she looked at him.
"Come on, I'll walk you to the door." She walked out of the threshold of the living room with Neji right behind her.
While the two teens walked out of the room, they didn't realize the 19 years-old girl that was crying silently who was supposedly watching a rom-com, who had her head down looking at the many pillows that was ironically Tenten's. It was the only pillow that Tenten would ever use.
'Oh God. What have I done!' Kimiko exclaimed in her thoughts.
"Bye Neji. Thanks for helping me with the school work I missed out on." She said as she opened the door, she looked at him once more with glassy eyes.
"You are welcome, Tenten." He replied with a small smile that rarely graced his face.
"And, I still can't believe you didn't tell me you were dating my sister!" She exclaimed in frustration – fake too of course.
"Wait. About that, its not true!" He tried to defend himself but Tenten wouldn't hear any of it. She just wanted to go to her room and just scream as loud as she want, thinking it would relief the stress she is feeling right now.
"Nope. Not having any of that bullshit, Hyuga. What is done is done. There's no turning back. Bye Neji." Tenten said as she closed the door.
As she closed the door, she leaned her back against her side of the door and slid down of it and cried silently. After her tears cleared up, she got up from the floor and walked up the flight of stairs and lethargically walked to her room.
When she reached her room she took off her shoes and placed it on a vacant shoes shelf space. She then tied her hair back to a single bun and immediately turned to her bathroom. She took a quick shower and came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body. She then walked to her walk-in closet and picked a set of pajamas and end up wearing a white tank top and black comfortable shorts.
She walked to her desktop and signed in on skype again, to only find Sasuke online.
'Oh, why not talk to him. Plus, I have to talk to him about the Neji thing anyway.' She said in her thoughts as she waited for him accept her call.
S: Uhh, Hey Ten!
T: Hey Sasuke! Got a minute? Yeah? Great. Okay. So, since you are alone, in your room, without Sakura as a distraction like earlier today. Let's get right down to business.
S: Hn.
T: Typical. Anyway, did you hear what Sakura, Hinata and I were talking about?
S: Yeah. Something about Hyuga.
T: Yeah. And, I'm sure Sakura also told you what it was about and so I don't need to explain it any further.
S: Yeah. And?
T: I just don't want you saying anything to him. Promise me this Sasuke. OR ELSE.
S: Or else what?
T: I'll tell Sakura no sex for you for a month.
By the faltering smirk on his face, Tenten knew she hit on the right spot. (No pun intended.)
S: Fine. Fine.
T: Okay then. Thank you for your co-operation, Uchiha-san.
S: Hn.
T: BYE! And, tell Sakura that she can stop hiding below the blanket and that I'm not mad at her for telling you. Okay? BYE!
She ended the call and log out of skype since none of the people she actually wanted to talk to were online. She then turned off her desktop and got ready for bed.
She walked to her bathroom once more to brush her teeth, wash her face and well, of course to urinate also known as peeing.
She then turned took her phone from her desk to read a text she got from Hidan about him sending her to school tomorrow as he needed to talk to her. After so, she went to her make-up table to comb her hair after letting go of her hair and got comfy on her bed, and switched the lights off. She made a linking switch near the door and next to her bed as before, she kept on tripping over stuff she forgot was there.
She closed her eyes and drifted to sleep. The last thing on her mind was wondering how tomorrow was going to be.
* The names 'Wei-Tian' and 'Kei' were the names of Tenten's parents that I used in my other story called The Only Exception.
Anyway, thank you for reading guys!
