Chapter 4: Tidal Wave
Hey everyone! It's me, sakuraphoenix, and I'm back with a new chapter! I know, I know, I'm late with the updates. I'm sorry about that. Honest, but all I can say is this: I've been caught in the middle of family issues, and the only way I was able to get out of them was this: change my major. I'd tell ya that I decided to abandon getting a music degree all together, but I'd be lying. Anyways, onto the disclaimer!

Okay, XANA is really starting to get on my nerves now. Not only has he managed to XANAfy both me and Aelita, but he also managed to wipe out the Forest Sector! I don't know about you, but I'm itching to fight against that nemesis of ours. Let's just hope Einstein has a good plan for that idea.

Speaking of him, we were all in the factory, just itching to hear about his latest plan.
"Okay, all I have to do now is analyze the data you just gathered from Sector Five." Said Jeremy
"Do you think we can learn anything from it?" asked Yumi
"I have no idea, but if there's a possibility for finding a clue for XANA on the internet, it's worth a try." Said Jeremy
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but something to eat would really hit the spot." Said Odd
"Better forget about it Odd. We can't be late for gym." Said Ulrich
"Huh?! But we haven't had breakfast yet!" exclaimed Odd
"Too late." Ulrich, Taios, and Caleb said in a sing-song voice
"Oh man, why am I suddenly the housekeeper? Odd, catch." I said as I tossed him a bag of fruit, which hit him in the face
"Hey, what's this?" Odd asked as he grabbed the bag off his face
"Jim. I know I have to keep the appearance of being his niece and all, and because of that, I know that the shot put that was scheduled for today's been canceled because today's nutrition day, so he gave me a whole basket full of fruit last night." I said
"What about Kayori? I bet she was jealous." Said Taios
"Oh yeah, she was, so I told her that she could help herself to the fruit as long as I could save some for my friends. Don't worry about me; I already had a couple of bananas earlier." I said
"Great! I can chow down on the way to gym class!" Odd exclaimed
"Well, the computer's gonna be unmanned today. Yolanda saw us shopping the other day for food, so she asked us to help with her presentation." Said Rina
"Don't worry. If XANA's gonna cause us some trouble, my watch is gonna give us a beep or two." I said while waving my wrist around
"Uh, Naomi? Where is your watch?" Taios asked me
I suddenly had a pale look on my face before I said:
"Uh-oh."
"We'll look around the school for you." Ulrich said as everyone else, minus me and Caleb headed for the elevator
"Thanks. I'll check around here." I said
As the elevator closed, I smiled as I hugged Caleb.
"So, gonna work on Xanadu?" I asked
"So leaving your watch in your room wasn't a joke?" asked Caleb
"I'll do anything to be with you. You bring out the spy in me." I said as I hugged him from behind
Kayori's P.O.V.
I know stealing's wrong, but I wanna know what she's up to. I bet she's just playing nice to them, but when I got to the gym, I saw mostly the whole group, minus Naomi and Caleb. Good. A moment with them is a moment in torture. Still, what's up with this watch? She treats it like it's a treasure when it's just a broken piece of junk. How do you get this thing to work anyways? I was about to find out when I heard Odd's stomach growl.
"Hey Odd, could you cool it for a second?" asked Ulrich
"He's right. Your stomach is almost as talkative as you are." Said Aelita
"Now listen, if I don't get something to eat right away, there's no telling what I might do." Said Odd
"Hey Odd, did you forget you just had a chocolate bar and a whole bag of fruit five minutes ago." Said Jeremy
"That's nothing! That was just a warm-up. I need some real food to get me going in the morning!" exclaimed Odd
"Like some beans and potatoes with a banana or two for dessert." Said Ulrich
Suddenly Jim burst into the room, effectively scaring the bejeebers out of me.
"Hey. I know you kids are gonna be disappointed, but it looks like I'm gonna have to cancel today's shot put competition." Said Jim
Oh yeah! Best news I've heard all week!
"Quiet down! Actually, since today is nutrition day, our school nurse, Yolanda Perraudin, along with two recent graduates, are going to speak to you and tell you what you should eat, in order to have a great shape, I-I mean to keep in shape." Jim said as Yolanda and two other girls I didn't recognize entered the gym
Something that didn't strike me as a surprise was Jim putting his hand on Yolanda's shoulder, earning an ahem from Yolanda.
"So for those of you who can't wait until you wolf down your next junk food meal, I better think twice before you do! Because junk food is your worst enemy!" exclaimed Jim
"Unless your name is Odd. His worst enemy is whoever gets between him and his food!" exclaimed Ulrich
"Better believe it." Said Odd
Oh boy. This is why I keep a journal/sketchbook on things I gotta do, like that game blog I'm writing. I'm surprised that I haven't been caught with it yet. Still, I wonder how I can get all sixty collectibles in Otherworld: Omens of Summer. The official walkthrough doesn't show where they're all hiding. Thankfully, when lunch finally rolled around, I was finally able to eat in peace in the cafeteria. Seems like Rosa's been cooking healthy stuff lately. I still can't get this stupid watch to work though. What does this thing have, a fingerprint scanner?
"Great. I love broccoli." Said Ulrich
"Say that again, and you're dead fish!" exclaimed Odd
"I'm sorry I can't go with you. I've got Italian." Said Yumi
"No big deal. We're just gonna analyze all that data that you brought back from Sector Five." Said Jeremy
"And how about you guys? Do you wanna come?" asked Aelita
"No. Ulrich, you stay here. I need you." Said Odd
"Oh, you do, huh? What for?" asked Ulrich
"Hey, can I sit here?" a voice said snapping me out of my thoughts
I turned to see Peter from the ninth grade group.
"Sure. Uh, Peter, right?" I asked
"That's me. You're Naomi's roommate, right? Was it, uh, Yuri or something?" asked Peter
"Close. It's Kayori." I said
"I noticed that you weren't exactly paying attention to Jim's and Yolanda's lecture earlier." Said Peter
"If I wanna learn about nutrition, I'll just read from a book about it." I said
"You know, you and Naomi sound alike." Said Peter
"We do?" I asked in confusion
"Yeah. Don't take this the wrong way, but she rarely talks about you, and I'm not gonna ask why. Whatever impression you made on her, I think you're taking it the wrong way." Said Peter
"Huh?" I wondered
"See, it's kinda a known fact around here that Naomi has Asperger's." Said Peter
"She has… autism? But I never really noticed. She seemed to be a normal girl." I said
"She likes to believe that. When I first found out that she had Asthma, Asperger's, and ADHD, I couldn't believe it. Seems like A is her lucky letter if you don't mind the joke." Said Peter
"So… you think I got her totally wrong?" I asked
"Yeah. Just give her the chance to get to know you, and who knows, maybe you two can get along." Said Peter
"Maybe you're right…" I trailed off
Naomi's watch then suddenly turned itself on by itself and started beeping like crazy! On the screen, I saw what looked like the superscan, and an activated tower! Oh no! He's here too?
"XANA." I said
"Huh?" asked Peter
"Um, it's the name of an anti-virus program I'm trying to develop. Speaking of, I'm getting back to it." I said before running out of the cafeteria
Naomi's P.O.V.
After a hard morning of working on Xanadu, Caleb and I were chilling on out the beach. Seriously! I spent the whole week programming this sector for Xanadu! And the best part? The ocean part of the sector isn't connected to the Digital Sea!
"I have to say, I love this surprise!" Caleb exclaimed while smiling
"I'm glad you love it. Took me weeks to program the sector in secret." I said while smiling before swimming over to him
"It's just perfect here. The perfect temperature for the water, even though we can't feel it, the warm sand between our toes, and the sun on our faces. It feels like we're really at the beach." Said Caleb
"And it's just you and me." I said while snuggling next to him
"I could just stay here forever." Said Caleb
"If we stay for too long, we'll never want to leave. I think Einstein's in the lab by now. But uh, how do we talk to him while we're on Xanadu?" I asked
"I'll show you. Open Link!" exclaimed Caleb
A screen appeared in front of him as he typed in a few codes to connect to the supercomputer.
"Jeremy! You there?!" exclaimed Caleb
I heard a shocked tone from the other end of the connection.
"Jeremy?" asked Caleb
"Caleb?" asked Jeremy
"It's me, and before you ask, Naomi and I are in the newest sector of Xanadu, the beach sector." Said Caleb
"You have a beach sector?!" exclaimed Jeremy
"Yeah, we'd show you sometime, that is, if you're not scared of coming to Lyoko." I said with a smirk on my face
"Of course I'm not scared! In any case, we have a problem. XANA's launched an attack, with a pile of food as the main course, the mountain sector and all of Lyoko is planning on getting a deep swim, and worst of all, XANA's monsters are attacking the core of Lyoko." Said Jeremy
Suddenly, Caleb held his heart, as if he were in complete pain from a heart attack or something.
"XANA's not only attacking there. Xanadu's core is being attacked too. I have a labyrinth surrounding the core as its only protection. If XANA's monsters manage to get through the labyrinth and the traps inside it, I'm finished." Caleb said in pain
"It won't happen. I promise." I said
"Thanks." Said Caleb
"Now, don't we have a core to protect?" I asked
"Right!" exclaimed Caleb
We both ran for the edge of Xanadu, where a terminal was set up. Caleb pressed his hand on the screen, similar to what you would do in a tower, and a transporter showed up!
"Unlike the one in Lyoko, this one will take us directly to the core of Xanadu." Said Caleb
"Great. This should catch XANA by surprise." I said as the transporter took us to the core of Xanadu
Upon on arrival, we found ourselves in the core room, but there was no one here.
"They must still be in the labyrinth, XANA's monsters I mean." I said
"Guess that means that we're going hunting." Caleb said as he unsheathed his sword
"We'll need something with distance. Let's see… gunner gem, been using that too much. Ninja gem, also too much. Archer gem, way too much. Huh, haven't used this guy in a while." I said as I slid in the Megaman gem
"Nice." Caleb said after I finished transforming
"Thanks, now let's go kick some butt!" I exclaimed
Caleb nodded his head as we both ventured into the labyrinth. We both stayed as quiet as possible, and then we saw some creepy Creepers.
"Creepers. No surprise. EM wave change! On air!" I exclaimed as I pressed the pink button on my transer
And this time, I look like Roll from Megaman NT Warrior! Oh well, could be worse. Let's just see if I can summon up a weapon.
"Roll Arrow." I said while extending my arm
Uh, nothing happened.
"Come on. Roll Arrow!" I exclaimed
"Try getting the hang of that form first. I'll distract them." Caleb said as he drew his sword
"I can't let Caleb down. Come on, at least give me a hint or something." I said to myself
As if on cue, a constellation appeared on the top screen of my transer. Wait a minute, this constellation…
"Andromeda. That's it! Andromeda Arrow!" I exclaimed
My right arm then turned into a crossbow with a heart-shaped arrowhead on the tip. From my hiding place, I saw Caleb fighting against one of the Creepers when I launched the arrow and sent the creeper packing.
"Nice shot." Said Caleb
"I try." I said while smiling
"Oh yuck. Someone gag me." A familiar voice said
We both turned to see Naxita just standing a few feet away from where we were. Great, why now of all times? Couldn't you have just, I don't know, left us alone?!
"Naxita!" I exclaimed with fury in my voice
"What are you doing here?! And why are you attacking my core?!" exclaimed Caleb
"You're smart. Figure it out." Said Naxita
Before any of us could react, Caleb was suddenly grabbed from behind by a Scyphozoa! No! I can't lose him! I can't lose him now! I was about to fire another arrow when more Creepers showed up!
"Back off you little freaks!" I exclaimed
"Naomi, I don't mean to rush you or anything, but the Scyphozoa's got Caleb!" exclaimed Jeremy
"Don't you think I know that?! If XANA weren't so busy handing out deals through his Monster Store sale, I'd be making sushi out of that jellyfish!" I exclaimed as I launched arrow after arrow at the Creepers
As I finished firing, I ran out of arrows.
"Jeremy, I need a reload!" I exclaimed
"Just hang in there!" exclaimed Jeremy
My transer then began beeping again. I waved my hand over the transer, and a harp appeared in my hand.
"Let's see what you can do." I said
I was about to play a note when the Scyphozoa set Caleb down. Oh no. He can't be dead… can he? Before I could run up to him, Naxita beat me to the punch, but instead of striking him, she was holding his hand! Okay, what the hell is going on?
"Are you awake?" Naxita asked Caleb's body in a soft tone
Of course he's not awake! He's dead you moron! That's what I was about to say when I saw Caleb's hand holding Naxita's, before he started to sit up.
"Yes… I'm awake." Said Caleb
But something's wrong. His voice, it sounds so sinister. So… evil.
"Welcome back." Naxita said while smiling before she hugged Caleb
Okay sister! That crosses the line! I'm so gonna kick your sorry behind into next century!
"I'm glad to be back." Caleb said before hugging Naxita in the same fashion
"Don't touch him!" I exclaimed with an angry tone
She was about to attack me when Caleb held her back. Caleb… why are you acting this way?
"Let's leave her alone, Naxita. She wouldn't have the guts to hurt her precious boyfriend." Caleb said with an evil smirk on his face
He then moved aside some of her hair, and then kissed her on the lips, the same way he did when we first kissed. If he's trying to break my heart… it's working.
"Oh, look at that. Poor little Natalie's crying." Caleb said in a mocking tone
"Caleb! Wake up, please! This isn't like you! This better be your idea of a joke! If it isn't, then wake up! I know you're still in there! You have to fight it! XANA's controlling you!" I exclaimed
I mean, he has to be, right?
"Sorry, but your boyfriend isn't here anymore." Said Caleb
"That's a lie XANA!" I exclaimed
Both Naxita and Caleb just… laughed? They were laughing like I made a joke! I wasn't joking!
"But it's true. The person you're talking to right now isn't Caleb. I'm the darkness that resides in him. I control his body now, so I'm not your boyfriend anymore. Now if you'll excuse us, we have somewhere to be." Caleb said before he and Naxita disappeared
With that, the tears that threatened to spill finally did as the pink button on my transer suddenly timed out. I know that it wasn't possible to cry in a virtual world, but here I was, crying. If what he said is true then Caleb… no. I know it's a lie. Caleb is always there for me when I need him. Now it's my turn to be there for him. I know he's fighting inside of himself. Now, it's just time for me to bring him back.
"So what? Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names will never hurt me. Caleb's still in there, fighting. I know it. So I'll fight for him. EM Wave Change! Naomi, on air!" I exclaimed as I pressed the red button on my transer
The iconic Lyra Note outfit was back on, and so was my blond hair. I'll worry later. I have a boyfriend to save. I just hope I can use Frequency Change to send myself to the Mountain Sector. I closed my eyes, and envisioned the tower that was activated. When I opened my eyes, I was here! And so were Aelita and Odd. This isn't looking good.
"Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. My good side's sister." Caleb's dark side said
"What are you talking about?" asked Aelita
"Caleb didn't tell you yet?" Caleb's dark side asked her
And I'll take that as my cue. I started to strum my guitar, and from my vantage point, I saw everyone wildly looking around for the source of the music.

"Here's a note for ya! Shock Note!" I exclaimed as I played a few notes on the Lyra guitar
Well, that one hit my bulls-eye. Sort of. I was hoping to shock Caleb back to his senses, but all I did was get him mad when Naxita was devirtualized in a cloud of smoke. Still, one target down. One boyfriend to save.
"You will pay!" Caleb's dark side exclaimed
"Uh, do I have any bills to pay that I forgot about?" I asked Aelita and Odd
"Hmm… well, there is that one bill you forgot, but Jeremy's willing to let it slide if we get Caleb back." Said Odd
"All I needed to hear. Just let me tie up this problem first. Quick String!" I exclaimed
I strummed a few notes, and all six strings tied him up, literally, but man was it hard!
"A little help here?" I asked
Aelita quickly sang, trapping Caleb's lower body in rock.
"Sorry Caleb, I have to do this. Pulse Song!" I exclaimed as I strummed a few notes on the Lyra Guitar
A blue heart-shaped pulse appeared from my guitar, hitting Caleb, but it caused him to scream in pain while holding his head.
"What did you do?" asked Aelita
"I hit him with an antidote pulse. I'm hoping that it'll help him break free." I said
And uh, the rock was breaking.
"Uh, I think he is, but not in the way you thought." Said Odd
"Aelita, get to the tower!" I exclaimed
"We'll take care of this." Said Odd
Aelita raced for the tower while Odd and I were stuck having an Alamo moment.
"Uh, I hate to break it to you, but you've got like two minutes before this thing times out." My guitar suddenly said
"Thanks Lyra. Gotta make this fast then. I'm really sorry about this Caleb, but I don't have a choice. Shock Note!" I exclaimed
Even while in his restraints, Caleb strived to not get shocked by my shock notes. While my notes and his lightning attacks collided, it was like sparks flew everywhere, and it even got Odd. With another strum from the Lyra Guitar, more notes appeared, shocking Caleb and devirutalizing him. I only hope that he's himself when he's back home. Speaking of being himself, the EM Wave Change timed out. Good thing we don't have a tower to deal with now. Speaking of, the return trip just activated.
"I'm so hungry!" Odd exclaimed over the microphone
We went back in time to when Caleb and I were skipping gym class to work on Xanadu, and I could tell from the look on his face that he was upset.
"Are you okay?" I asked
"I'm sorry. I should've told you about it sooner. About my dark side." Caleb said while both clenching his fists and holding back tears
"Hey, it's okay. You didn't know that this was going to happen." I said
"But still, he made you cry, he hurt your feelings, and he made me feel like a terrible boyfriend. I'll just virtualize myself onto Xanadu, and never come back." Caleb said sadly
"Caleb, listen to yourself. I can always forgive you, no matter what happens. You're my boyfriend after all. I could never be mad at you. Sure, he hurt my feelings, but that wasn't you talking. If Naxita took over my body, and said really nasty things to you, I wouldn't forgive myself. In a way, I know what you're going through. It's okay to cry when you're upset. You don't need to act brave when you're scared." I said as I hugged him
Finally unable to control himself, his tears overflowed like a river as he hugged me. Caleb, I promise that I won't leave you, ever. I'll be here for you, that is… if you'll let me.
