Chapter 4
3rd August 2014 1am
Third Person POV
Lissy lies still under the starry night sky, the moonlight illuminating her. A cool breeze brushes over her body, causing the uniform she wears to stir slightly and goosebumps to form on her skin. She has fallen deep into the dream world. Her mind is clouded over and the nightmares are awaiting her.
A tall, dark figure looms over the sleeping girl. Eyes the colour of burgundy wine look down to her with curiosity. Only at close distance would you be able to see the small amount of hunger in those eyes.
"Such beauty, and such vulnerability. Must I always be the one to rescue you?" The figure speaks quietly, sounding like nothing but a whisper from the trees. "Leaving such an innocent, little girl out in the open like this would be a crime..."
10:00am
"No!" Lissy cries out as she wakes with a start.
Looking around, she realizes she was back in her dorm room. It is dark; the curtains are drawn. Beth is no where in sight.
With a yawn and a stretch, Lissy slowly rises from her bed. She is still in her uniform, which leads to Lissy questioning what had happened to her. How did she get back to her dorm? Did she not fall asleep outside? Did someone bring her back? If so, who?
After a few minutes of thinking, Lissy has had enough of simply sitting in her room. So she decides to go somewhere new. It is Sunday today, so there are no lessons on. All the students will be doing their own thing.
She finds herself heading out of the dorms, and towards the main building. The sun is hidden behind a mass of clouds today, so there is no need for Lissy to complain. That and the fact that she is worried she might end up being ambushed by Phil again. She'd used most of her energy on him yesterday, when he'd pushed her too far and she'd lost it. Of course, that was just proof of her weakness. Phil hadn't even tried to fight back, and she'd struggled enough as it was. If he had tried anything, who knows what sort of state Lissy would have ended up in.
"Lissy? Oh my gosh, are you okay?!" Beth shouts as she runs towards Lissy. Panic written all over her face.
"Eh? Y-Yeah, I'm fine. Why do you ask?" Lissy replies as she was tackle hugged by Beth.
Beth then pulls away from the hug, still looking worried. "Well it's just, you didn't get back until very late last night. I had been worrying all night. I was sure something bad had happened."
"And as you can clearly see, it hasn't. I'm absolutely fine. Out of interest, why did you stop worrying?"
Beth looks to the floor. "I...fell asleep."
"Ha, I should've guessed." Lissy said, laughing softly. "Now, if you don't mind, I was on my way to the library. I'll talk to you later."
Lissy smiles and waves as she turns to walk in the opposite direction. It was inevitable that she would run into Beth eventually but it was luck that Beth had spotted her in the corridor. Especially considering the size of the school building. Lissy continues at a brisk pace until she comes across the grand doors of the school Library. She comes here so often that she has created her own space. A special, almost den, at the back of the library, where no one will disturb her. The librarian didn't mind, as long as Lissy continues taking books out. Which she does. It's one of the ways she spends her time when she isn't in lessons.
That's the problem with nightmares and a horrific past. You end up having flashbacks.
