chapter 4
After an hour of playing in the water, Jay, and Angel went home. Lilly soon left to have her parents brush her fur. Kate was going to leave too, but remembered Humphrey didn't have parents to brush his fur.
"You want me to brush your fur?" Kate asked.
"It's okay, you don't have to" Humphrey said.
"I know i don't have to. i want to" Kate said.
"Okay" Humphrey said blushing.
Kate picked up a pine cone, and began to brush his already wet fur. It was easy to brush since his fur was wet, so she finished in five minutes. Kate dropped the pine cone, and stepped back to admire her work.
"You look good" Kate said.
"Thanks" Humphrey said nervously.
"Can you brush my fur?" Kate asked.
"Yeah sure" Humphrey said.
Humphrey felt so nervouse that he thought he was going to puke. He found another pine cone, and began to brush Kate's fur. Kate moaned lightly as he brushed her back. This only made Humphrey more nervouse. Humphrey finished in five minutes, but Kate asked him to keep going. after ten more minutes the sun began to set. Humphrey couldn't believe how much Kate liked being brushed.
"Kate, we got to go" Humphrey said.
"Just a little longer" Kate begged.
"The sun already set" Humphrey said.
"Fine"
Kate streched as she got up.
"Thanks" Kate said licking his muzzle.
Humphrey blushed. when he tried to say something he found that he couldn't and just smiled. They made their way to howling rock in silence, until Kate started conversation.
"This is my first howl in front of anyone" Kate admitted.
"Are you saying your nervouse?" Humphrey asked.
"A little" Kate said.
"Don't worry. you'll do great, i'll be there if you need me" Humphrey said.
"Thanks. your the best" Kate said.
Humphrey smiled as his heart fluttered. he couldn't believe that a wolf as beautiful as Kate, thought he was the best. They made it to howling rock where Lilly, Jay, and Angel were waiting.
"What took you so long?" Lilly asked.
"Nothing" Kate said.
"Who brushed your fur" Angel asked.
"Humphrey" Kate answered.
"Oh now i get it. thats why it took so long" Jay said.
"I'm not sure what your getting at" Humphrey said.
Jay leaned forward and whispered something in his ear. When he finished, Humphrey's eyes went wide.
"NO" Humphrey yelled.
"Okay relax. that could never happen" Jay said.
"What couldn't happen" Kate asked.
"Nothing" Humphrey said.
"Thats start" Lilly said.
"I'll go first" Angel said.
Angel howled a quick beautiful note. when she finished, Jay howled. His howl was average, and nothing more. Then Lilly, who's howl was almost as good as Angels.
"I'm winning so far. Kate you go next" Angel said.
"Humphrey you can go" Kate said.
"It's harder to go last" Humphrey said.
"Okay" Kate said as she began to shake.
"Don't worry" Humphrey said pushing his coat against hers "I'm right here"
Kate felt less nervouse, and lifter her muzzle into the sky. She let out the most beautiful howl any of them have ever heard. She quickly stopped, not wanting to howl more than she needed.
"That was amazing" Jay said.
"Yeah" Angel agreed.
Kate looked at Humphrey, who was starring at her with a huge smile.
"I told you" Humphrey said.
"It's your turn" Kate said.
Humphrey quickly let out a howl that silenced the whole mountain as they lissened. He let his howl go on longer than any of the others. When he finally stopped the mountain erupted in cheering. Humphrey looked at every one else.
"You win" Jay said.
"Yep" Every one agreed.
"We need to get home" Jay said.
"Yeah" Angel agreed.
"Bye" Kate said.
"Bye" Jay and Angel said as they left.
"You think that they..." Jay asked.
"Oh yeah" Angel said.
"We should get home" Lilly said.
"Tell mom we'll be back in a little" Kate said.
"Okay" Lilly said taking off.
"So what did you want to stay here for?" Humphrey asked.
"To watch the stars" Kate said.
Kate rester her head on Humphrey's shoulder. After a couple of minutes she felt herself falling asleep so she decided it was a good time to leave.
"Come on. let's leave" Kate said.
"Okay" Humphrey said.
They quickly made it back to the den where Eve, Winston, and Lilly were already asleep. Humphrey laid down with Kate, and they soon fell asleep.
i'm really excited about this story. i have big plans for this one. by the way i need 4 more reviews for spec ops.
