After that story, Rose felt her burning hatred for corrupt rulers sizzle in her chest, as well as a flare of new determination. She would come back home. She would prove that wizards were more powerful than anyone.

"One more thing," aunt Ginny entered the room. "Take this."

She handed Rose a long, thin piece of wood. A wand.

"This was Harry's wand. It was repaired and sent back to us as a reminder. . . ." Ginny's eyes clouded slightly with tears. "You don't even know any spells but-"

"But Aunt Ginny, mum and dad have-"

She put a finger to her lips and smiled. "Shh. I want you to take it for good luck."

Understanding, Rose nodded. "Of course. Thank you, aunty." She hugged her aunt and the rest of her family one last time. "I'll see you all soon." She gave the best smile she could muster, and a wave. Then, the Peacekeepers came to take her to the bullet train. The last thing she saw was her mother lay her head in her father's shoulder, weeping.

On the train, Rose sat at a table with Scorpius and Mimi. Suddenly, Scorpius looked to the older woman and asked, "All the other tributes get mentors. Who's our mentor?"

To that, Mimi responded, "A man by the name of Severus Snape."
