One Person
There's a boy who lives down the street
And he hasn't lived there long
He comes from a city they call New York
That's what made his heart so strong
He's tough and he's mean and he's cruel
He's hardened himself beyond care
The boy has a record a mile long
And if looks could kill, he'd stare
The boy has icy blue eyes
And the ice is as cold as his heart
They said, "He could never love anybody."
He answered, "It's been that way from the start."
But there is one person he cares about
And it isn't his mom or his dad
There is one person whose life he would save
Even though he insists he's bad
The fire was dangerously high
And the boy just stood there, scared
Until he heard, from the flames, a scream
And in seconds, he was there
He was known to be cold and mean
He doesn't care what they have to say
But it only took one person, as lost as he was
To make him think life was okay
