The Doctor, or so had had been called throughout his various incarnations. One thing had remained a constant this entire time: his tardis. He loved her in various ways that most people couldn't understand, and in the end she would be his longest companion. And right now, she was sick. Fretfully he paced the inner chamber, swerving around the console in frustration. He had dropped Amy and Rory back at their house several days (to him at least) before. Amy had seen the worried look in his eyes, but knew even if she asked, he would not tell. Time was relative in this state, and now this had been many years since the trip to Venice. Both friends and foe they had fought together, but even the Doctor could see that their friendship was wearing thin. He was appearing less and less so that they could actually live their lives.. The only problem was he felt that he couldn't without them. So as a selfish sin, he kept coming back. But at this very moment, the Doctor was suspended in space, the familiar sound of the cloister bell echoing down the halls.
"Eh ole girl, ..what's wrong.?"
In response, the tardis' engines whined. Clasping a hand against the clear core, lines of worry creased across his face. This was a new face at one time, no longer. It had been several hundred years. Heck, he had blown up the universe, stopped time, gotten married, and died since this had been a new face. He could feel time dragging on him when he was alone..the cold fear of emptiness. And right now the one thing that had been there for him since he could remember, was seemingly falling apart and he didn't know why.
Before he could contemplate any more, the tardis thrashed. Her entire structure seemed to buckle, throwing him against the console and back to the railing painfully. A grunt forced out of him as he could feel his spine crackle in complaint. A crimson shadow passed across the room, filling it with reddish hues. The bell rang louder as the doctor tried to shout over the ruckus of screeching engines and frantic alerts.
"Oi! What the hell is going on!"
River's mind wandered. It had been wandering for a very , very long time. Ever since the Library, she had felt scattered into bits whenever she dreamed. The essence had been saved inside the universes largest database, all because a man she loved could not let her go. She had been a woman full of secrets, some even the Doctor did not even know. Some which he was very soon going to find out..
Sucking in the cold air through her teeth, Dawn grumbled. The weather sank into her bones, making them very cold. Being an old woman did not agree with her. Once dark hair had turned to silver over the very long years, violet eyes darkening to a soft grayish sapphire, and smooth skin now painted with wrinkles. She had lived a very long time.. Timelords looked like humans, but natural life span without regeneration could be several hundred years..and that's exactly what it had been. She no longer lived in Venice, that had been several decades behind her. Now, as an old woman, she resided within London itself, in a small cottage in the Canterbury area. She had been well loved by her neighbors and friends. Never married, but always kind to others and their children, Dawn now kept to herself. Gone were the days she had traveled across the skin of the earth , exploring and finding what little information she could before what was going to be the Big Change. That change being when alien life finally recognized Earth was ready, when the clock hit the 21st century.
Now looking out at the stars, she smiled. Despite their color going grey, she still had the shine of starlight in her eyes. At times a great longing pulled at her heart, to travel among them again. But that was long gone..
Taking in a steep breath, what happened next nearly caused both her hearts to stop. The wheezing, clanging sound of something that had been in her dreams sparked the air, a familiar site materializing into view. Grabbing a carved walking stick that had been laying against her thigh, the woman arose. Wind and leaves whistled through the air, tossing her long, silver locks behind her. Tears sprang into her eyes, both of delight and confusion. The doors of the blue device threw open, light streaming into view to mingle with the sunset she had just been watching. Stumbling out came a young man, his hair wild, eyes even more so. He was tall, bow tie askew , and vest half way unbuttoned. Wiping a hand across his brow to push his longish, dark hair from his eyes, the stranger spoke.
"Hello..I'm the Doctor..and I don't know where I am..?
I do like surprises..but not when it involves blowing up..?"
Rose fiddled with her food, staring out of the window. The rain crashed against the panes as the sky seemed to cry. Or at least it seemed to be reflecting her very own mood. Tossing a half eaten piece of potato back down onto her plate, Rose rain her fingers through her hair and sighed. Tony and her mother were out shopping, Dad was back at their version of Torchwood working, and the Doctor..well he was doing what he always done since they had gone back to this universe. He was supposed to have met her there for lunch, but evidently had forgotten..again..this week..
Passing a hand over her eyes, Rose went to stand up, with the intention of throwing away the half eaten meal and somehow finding something to do that day. But instead the following happened. Piercing pain sprung into her right temple, making the woman sit down hard and hold her head into her hands. Squeazing her eyes shut, Rose could hear her own blood rushing into her ears. As the pain and noise subsided, she could make out a woman's voice. Looking up suddenly, she jolted. Across from where she was seated, also sat another woman, seemingly materialized out of thin air.
"Well that's different..", Rose muttered, squinting her eyes warily.
The woman was stretching as if she had taken some long trip, and flashed a toothy grin as she looked around her surroundings. Her hair was curly but pulled back, blueish grey eyes glinting almost mischievously. "Well hello, dearie. You weren't who I was expecting at all. Then again it has been a while since I've stretched these muscles."
Rose's eyes widened in confusion, every muscle rigid. The woman seemed unaffected by her posture and stood up looking around.
"well, where is he?"
"Where is who?", Rose retorted quickly.
"HIM. Oh don't play coy. When my mind reaches out I always find him. You just must be someone close and I got the steering a bit off."
"Pardon?"
Now the woman seemed flustered as she looked over her shoulder back at Rose, obviously not seeing who she was looking for. Rose then stood, folding her arms, beginning to look very cross.
"I don't know who you are looking for , mate. Or who you are. So why don't we start talking like real people instead of like you are nutters."
Slowly the woman turned, as if understanding the Rose's words were honest, and that she had no idea. The Realization dawned on her face, creeping in worry on the one smiling face.
"wait..where am I.."
"London.."
Rushing to the door, the mystery woman peeked up to look at the sky. The sky was full of zeppelins, and all sorts of craft, but non too like what you would normally see..except on the side was plastered Rose's father's face, a big thumbs up, and cheeky grin. Whirling she grabbed Rose's shoulders, her eyes now filled with fright.
"No..no I'm not supposed to be able to reach here..What ..what is your name?"
Rose forcibly shrugged the woman off, not thinking before she indignantly answered.
"Rose Tyler.."
The woman backed away slowly, mixed emotions across her face..horror..joy..surprise, fear..
"Rose..I'm not from this universe..you have to get me to the Doctor..quickly.. you must tell him River Song has to see him..
