Skye sighed lightly as she stared down at Feebas who gobbled down its food along with Lucario and Eevee. It had been over a week already and there were only a couple days left before she'd reach Oreburgh City. The only moves Feebas knew were Splash, Tackle and Scald. Skye had run into an old man named Joel the same day that she caught Feebas. He offered to teach it Scald to which Skye accepted. That had taken 3 days to learn but now they were here, eating lunch in a field. Luckily though Lucario had learned Aura Sphere, that move would surely help against Rock Pokemon.

Skye noticed her Pokemon, beside Feebas who kept eating, swiftly looked up from their meals to look to the side. The bushes ruffled and out came a Mareep. "Maar?"

The Electric Pokemon titled it's head to the side as it looked at them. That was when Skye decided she was going to catch it! "Feebas use Scald!"

Said Pokemon looked at her before spitting Scald into her face. She cursed at the temperature of the water before pointing frantically and yelling, "At Mareep!"

Soon Mareep was the one getting burning hot water spit into its face by Feebas. Mareep stared running around and shot out Thundershock that hit Skye and her Pokemon. They all fell onto the floor twitching as Mareep ran into a tree and K.O'd itself.

Skye and her Pokemon hurriedly got onto their feet. Skye threw an empty Poke Ball, "Go Poke Ball!" The unconscious Mareep went into the Poke Ball. The Poke Ball jiggled from side to side and the trigger glowed for a few seconds before it stopped. Mareep was caught.

She ran towards the ball and picked it up, "We've got Mareep!" Cue pose.

Skye shifted nervously on her feet as she looked up at the Oreburgh Gym. She had finally made it. She walked in through the sliding doors and up to the front desk where a man with brownish green hair with same colored eyes stood. He smiled at her, "Hello there, I'm Ian. What can I do for you?"

"Uh, I wanna gym battle."

The man laughed. "Roark, our Gym Leader isn't here at the moment. He's out in the mines looking for treasure."

Skye blinked curiously. "Treasure?'

"Fossils."

That was when it clicked. "I see. Do you know when he'll be back?'

Ian shook his head "Unfortunately not. I apologize."

A sliding sound was heard behind Skye and a voice spoke, "Oh, it's you."

Skye turned around and noticed Paul. "Paul. Here for your first Gym Battle?"

The boy only nodded. Ian smiled, "You two know each other?"

"Indeed."

"Unfortunately."

Skye glared lightly at Paul. Ian laughed nervously and tried to break the tension by reaching behind the desk and pulling out something. "Here are your badge cases for all the badges you collect in Sinnoh."

Paul grabbed the purple and Skye the blue. "Neat."

Paul stuffed the case in his pocket as he looked at Ian. "Is the Gym Leader here?"

Ian shook his head. "Afraid not and I don't know when he'll be back."

Paul closed his eyes and turned around to face the door. "I see." And with that he was off but the doors opened to reveal Ash.

"Woah! It's Paul!"

"Do I know you?" Skye scowled as she walked out beside Ian, Paul was such a jerk. "Paul are these friends of yours?"

"No way!"

"It's Skye!" Dawn and Ash exclaimed in union.

Said girl gave a lazy wave. "Sup?"

"You guys must have just fought a battle. Did you guys win a gym badge?"

Paul put his hands in his pockets, "Hey that's none of your business."

Skye yawned, "No. The Gym Leader's out at the moment in the mines."

"I see..." Ash was obviously disappointed.

Ian spoke up, "I assume your here for a Gym Battle?"

Ash nodded, "Yeah. My names Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region. And this'll be my first Gym Battle here in Sinnoh."

"Say, that's quite a long trip all the way from Kanto. Welcome to the Temple for Rock Pokemon, the Oreburgh Gym."

"You mean this Gym is for Rock Pokemon?"

Both Skye and Paul looked at Ash stupidly.

"That's right and the Gym Leader's name is Roark."

"So, who are you?"

"My name is Ian and I take care of the Rock Pokemon here. I'm sure once the Gym Leader gets back you'll be able to battle after Skye and Paul are finished with theirs."

"Sounds great, thanks!"

Paul turned to Ian. "So, until Roark gets back I'll be at the Pokemon Center."

Ash called out, "Hey Paul, lets both give it all we've got!"

Paul humph like the arse he was and kept walking. Skye sighed and announced, "Same here. I'll see you all later."

With that she walked off with Ash and Dawn saying they'd see her later.

It was only 30 minutes later that Skye stood a distance away in front of Roark, the Gym Leader. Ian had already explained the rules and Dawn and Ash were cheering her on from the side lines, Paul wasn't there. She watched as Roark threw out his first Poke Ball and called, "Geodude let's go!"

Skye could hear her heart beat 100 miles per second in her ears as she stood there deciding what Pokemon to use. She threw out her first choice. "Sway to the battle Feebas!"

"Bas!"

She heard everyone in the room sweatdrop as Roark said, "That's...uh...quite the interesting choice. We'll allow you this first move."

Skye nodded, "Alright. Feebas, use Scald!"

"Use Hidden Power!"

Flying orb likes things hit Scald back and hit Feebas, knocking it off its fins. Just as Feebas was almost to its feet Roark called, "Geodude Rollout!"

Skye's hands clenched, "Feebas use Scald on the ground!"

Roark looked surprised as Feebas shot water from its mouth that landed in the path Geodude was rolling in and made it roll off to the side into a rock. Geodude struggled to get up but did. Again Skye called for Feebas to use Scald to which Roark had Geodude use Hidden power again. "Geodude use Rollout once again!"

"Scald Feebas!" But Feebas wasn't fast enough this time and Geodude sent it into the air and Geodude flew into the air too and hit Feebas into the ground, effectively knocking it unconscious.

Ian announced, "Feebas is unable to battle! Geodude wins!"

Skye returned Feebas to its Poke Ball. "It's alright Feebas, you did a great job." She put away the ball and took out another. "Sway to the battle Eevee!"

"Use Rollout Geodude!" Roark commanded.

"Eevee Quick Attack!"

Skye heard Dawn called, "But there's no way a Quick Attack can measure up to a Rollout attack!"

The redhead smirked, Dawn was right but that was all part of the plan. Geodude and Eevee were going at each other at amazing speed but at the right moment Skye yelled, "Now Eevee jump!"

Eevee jumped over Geodude and its feet dug into the ground as it slid across the ground with Geodude still rolling the other way. "Now Swift!"

Stars shot out from Eevee's mouth and hit the expecting Rock Pokemon. "Finish this with Take Down!"

Eevee ran at the struggling Pokemon and hit it with amazing power. Geodude flew into a rock and was knocked unconscious. Roark returned Geodude to its Poke Ball after Ian announced, "Geodude is unable to battle! Eevee wins!"

"Go Onix!" Roark threw out another Poke Ball and out came Onix.

Skye thought for a moment before deciding to stay with Eevee. "Stealth Rock Onix!"

Skye scowled as an eyebrow twitched. It was a good move on Roark, making sure that she wouldn't change Pokemon during her battle with Onix. "Use Swift Eevee!"

"Dodge Onix and use Body Slam!" Onix dodged the oncoming stars and moved to Slam Eevee.

"Eevee dodge it by jumping onto its body and use Swift all the way up to its head!" Eevee did as told by evading to the side and jumping onto Onix. It ran its way up with stars shooting from its mouth and hitting Onix.

Roark had sweat coming down the side of this face. "Onix throw Eevee off!"

Onix wave from side to side to try to throw off the small Pokemon. Eventually its efforts succeeded when Eevee went flying off of Onix and Roark commanded , "Onix use Body Slam now!"

This time Eevee couldn't avoid it and was slammed into the ground. "Eevee!" Skye yelled as her Pokemon cried out in pain.

"Onix lets wrap this up with Double edge once more!" Roark grinned.

"Eevee come on! I know you can do this! Use Take Down!" When Eevee heard what Skye said its eyes became determined as it straightened up. The two Pokemon went at each other, neither backing down but eventually both reeled back from the power. There had been an explosion with dust covering the scene. Everyone waited silently for the dust to clear to see the end result. What surprised them was when they found both Onix and Eevee unconscious.

Roark smiled at Skye from his spot across the field. "I'm impressed Skye, you're quite the trainer but here comes my last Pokemon!" He threw out a Poke Ball and called, "Go Cranidos!"

Skye threw out Lucario's Poke Ball, "Sway to the battle, Lucario!" She winced as Stealth Rock enclosed on the newly released Pokemon. Lucario flexed and stood strong but it was easy to see the light bruises.

"You can go first Skye!"

Skye nodded, "Okay. Lucario use Aura Sphere!" Lucario nodded and put it arms outstretched forward with both hand sides pressed against each other. A blue aura sphere came forth and was sent hurling at Cranidos.

"Dodge it and use Headbutt!" Cranidos followed its trainers command and dodged the incoming attack and came flying head first to hit Lucario.

"Lucario use Bone Rush!"

Said attack collided wit Cranidos's head and send it flying backwards into rocks. "One more time Lucario!"

Lucario jumped into the air above the fallen demolished rocks, bone swung back at the ready. Roark began to sweat a bit. "Cranidos, use Zen Headbutt!"

Cranidos erupted from the pile of rock so swiftly that is took Lucario off guard long enough to land its attack.

Skye cried out as her partner went flying high into the air, badly bruised like its foe. Lucario flipped to stop spinning and landed on a rock. Cranidos was at the ready and Zen Headbutted Lucario again. This time it was sent skidding into the ground and over small rocks. Roark smirked, "Cranidos let's finish this up with one last attack! Go!"

Skye could hear her heart race in her ears as she watched Cranidos run towards Lucario who struggled to get up. Her palms started to sweat behind her gloves. She glanced at the people watching on the bleachers. Her eyes found Brock, next Ash, then Dawn. Then Paul? Her brows furrowed, he wasn't there earlier. It was when she noticed that he was getting up to leave because they would lose, she snapped. No. They wouldn't lose!

"Lucario!" Skye all but screamed determined. "Block Cranidos with your palms!"

Lucario stopped struggling and its eyes snapped opened, determined. Cranidos came head first crashing into Lucario's plams, the power causing its feet to dig into the ground and skid back. There they stood, both struggling to over power one another. Skye grinned, hand rose in the air as she commanded, "Lucario! Now, Force Palm!"

Both Roark's and Paul's eyes widened. Roark felt his heart stop as he could only watch as great power released itself from Lucario's palms and into his partner's head. The force of the blast caused Lucario to reel back from its own attack. Smoke covered the gym and no one could see the results of Cranidos yet.

Skye grin widened if possible when the smoke did clear to reveal an unconscious Cranidos. Super effective!

"Cranidos is unablle to battle, Skye is the victor!" Ian called holding up a flag.

Skye cheered and ran to hug Lucario who met her half way.

Her and her Pokemon, they'd won!
