Thank you for continuing reading. To the people who have left comments about the story, I am so grateful for that because I was starting to lose motivation. This is the longest chapter yet! I hope you enjoy :)

"Hey, your back! And with a new set of clothes on… so you did take up my offer." Arizona teases.
"I did… I used some of your stuff I hope you don't mind?"
"Absolutely not, you look gorgeous," Arizona spoke softly.
Callie could feel her cheeks redden. "How are feeling? Any pain?"
"I see what you did there, deflected my praise once again but that won't stop me." 'Because Callie deserves all the world's praise.' "My leg really hurts, I think the morphine started to wear off a few hours after we fell asleep, and yes I should have woken you up, but you looked so blissful, and I believe your day was quite tiring after flying out here. There was a lot of emotions that were experienced yesterday."
"You aren't wrong, but for next time, please wake me up."
"I will, I promise."
"Sorry to interrupt ladies, but I'd like our VIP patient to know her options. So Arizona you know the options but I would like to go over them once again. I can implant a chip into your skull, which will send signals down to your leg allow you not to feel the loss of your leg, it will be easier on your body, physically & mentally. This study has proven to help Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and allow amputees to do much more than with a regular prosthetic." Derek went into doctor mode.
"No! No more surgery." Arizona protested with teary eyes.
"Why don't you both talk it over and I will come back, later on, to discuss further details if you approve." Derek and the resident on his service left the room.
"Callie-"
"Wait before you say anything, I will support you no matter what. I know that it's scary and difficult, but what if it works?" Callie left the question out in the open.
"I almost didn't make it off the table last time, what if I don't this time around?"
"You didn't because of an infection, it was killing you but now you are strong, healthy and whole. I'm not going to make you change your decision, you need to do this for you, not for me or anyone else for you."
Silence fills the rooms, it wasn't uncomfortable but both women were lost in their own thoughts.
Callie
I don't want to affect Arizona's decision, but I want to support her whichever option she chooses. I can't be her doctor and wife at the same time, it's what led to our divorce two years ago, she needs to know it is going to be tough no matter what. I am her anchor, I am going to get her through this, but we need to do this together. This time I am just her person, the other mother of her child.
Arizona
The surgery is beneficial, it will help me personally and professionally. But the risk is high and it is still experimental. If it doesn't work, nothing changes, I just deal with the arising problems as they come with medications. But if it works, the chances for these pains to return are much lower, it will help feel more confident raising my confidence. Maybe I should do the tests and if I pass that, I can make a decision then.
Breaking the quiet room, "I'm going to see if I pass the test for it and if I do, then I will reconsider my options."
"Sweetie, I am so proud of you, you are so strong, I will be there every step of the way, as long as you need me. How about I call Derek in and you can talk to him privately and I'll be back in a few hours."
"Thank you so much… for all of this, for just being here. Don't you have an interview with the Chief today."
"I do but around 2:15 p.m. I'll be back after that."
My shift is about to end but I wanted to pop in and see if you have considered the procedure." Derek enters with his McDreamy smile.
"I have, I would like to run the test first and if I pass, I would like to have the procedure. But I do have a few questions, how long will the procedure take?"
"It will take an hour without any complications."
"When will I be back on my feet?"
"We have the leg almost ready, based on your previous leg measurement and stump structure, we just have to see if you feel comfortable with it. But you can be walking within the 48 hours of the surgery, and if you are ready after a week or so you can start performing operations, but no pushing yourself too hard because it will set you back."
"When can we do this?" Arizona asks.
"I can get the test done in the next few hours and if all goes well, you can have your operation at 1 a.m, but no eating after 5 p.m."
"Thank you Derek." Arizona spoke sincerely.
"No problem Arizona, you're family and we take care of family."
Chief Webber finishes his phone call while Callie patiently waits across the table.
"Torres, what can I do for you?"
"I would like my job back, as an attending, if that is possible, I am currently working on my cartilage study alongside."
"Torres, we don't have any attending stops available."
"Sir with all due respect, I am the best on the West Coast, I build bones out of nothing. Any hospital would be glad to have me but I want to work here, and I am still on the board as well." The fiery Latina responds.
"Torres! Hold your horses, I don't have an attending position open but I do, if you are up for it, the Head of Orthopaedics open. I don't think anyone will fit that position better than you."
"Really?"
"Yes Dr. Ryther is retiring, go grab your pager and order a lab coat from services department. You start work from tomorrow."
"Thank you Chief, I won't let you down."
"Oh and Callie, I am not one to be part of gossip but I heard you and Arizona are willing to try again. Maybe I am not the best person to say this but listen to her, she's been through hell and back, so have you. Many marriages would last a fraction of what you have been through. I've seen her after you left, she's written so many things to you that she never sent, she has always been in love with you, snd seeing you right now helping her, tells me that you never fell out of love with her. I just hope you both find it in yourselves to forgive each other and make it work again." He lowers his voice, "A little secret between you and me, I think you both are made for each other."
Callie let out a bit of a chuckle, "I think so too, I already have forgiven her, I hope she has done the same."
"Hey."
"Hey… how was your meeting with Webber?"
"Well… he said no attending spots were open."
"He didn't hire you? No, let me talk to him… you are the best and he's crazy not to realize that."
"Ari, you are looking at the new Head of Ortho!"
"Oh my god Calliope, I'm so proud of you, you deserve it!"
"Thank you… so did you talk to Derek?"
"I did, the tests were run 20 minutes ago, there's a rush on the results so I should be getting them soon."
Both women talked about operations they have performed and Sofia, life in general nothing too deep. Time flew by.
"Doctor Robbins, your results are back and you are eligible for the chip. If you would like, we can follow through with the 1 a.m. operation as long as you haven't eaten anything after 5." Little Grey told her close friend and mentor.
"That would be perfect. Thank you, Lexie."
With that Lexie leaves the room, wanting to refresh herself before the procedure.
"You're doing it?" Callie asks.
"I am, I want to. You should go home, get some sleep, be with Sofia."
"Ari, I said I am going to support you no matter your choice even if it means that all I can do is hold your hand. I am not leaving, I will ask Meredith if it alright if Sofia sleepover. We are in this together, okay?"
"Okay."
It is 1:15 in the morning, the stress levels are high, candles are being lit and prayers are being sent for Arizona, even if the operational risk is little. Nobody takes a chance when it comes to their own.
Callie is in the waiting room praying for Arizona, DeLuca is pacing outside the operating room, even Sloan is hoping nothing goes wrong, after all, she is one of his girls. Alex Karev is on the edge of his seat watching as Derek begins.
"Ok people, it's a beautiful day to save lives."
