The Encounter

"Hey mutt, don't you know how important it is to say hello to a new friend? Turn around and shake my hand if you want a treat." The voice said closely from behind, running a chill down his spine.

A deep growl rumbled from the wolf's chest, warning whoever was behind him to not to move any closer. He turned his head slightly to the side, his eyes landed on a grinning skeleton. It was not a stalfos for sure, it was too shorter than any he had seen, that and it wasn't viciously ripping his heart out. It was dressed in black shorts, and a blue jacket, and strange laced white shoes (sneakers). It's smile however was an eyesore, it was too...fake. And its eyes sockets bore into his being, as if searching for something, somehow it blinked, white pinprick eyes popping into existence.

The wolf followed its eye path two his own hip, huh, apparently when forcing his way out of the ruin doors he had managed to open a wound or two. It didn't hurt that much, he didn't even notice the pain until now. The boney hand that was reached out to him waiting to shake faltered, dropping to the owner's side.

"Never taught how to shake, huh? Is it asking too much to see if you can sit or play fetch then?" The skeleton questioned with a small hit of humor in his voice, eyeing the freshly opened wounds. There was awkwardly pause, as if he was waiting for an answer, but the wolf remained silent, peering at the creature.

"Wanna press the un-mute button buddy?" The smile faltered for a moment.

"Uh. Don't worry buddy, nobody rushing you. Well, I was going to find my missing watch, but I could never find the time." Link's ears twitched at the horrible pun before turning his direction back to the bridge.

"I hope you I didn't alarm you, or but it looked like you wanted to clock me out, sorry for the scare, but I wanted to ask you a question. It'll only take a few seconds, what better way to pass the time." The Skeleton continued, stopping him in his tracks. The wolf grumbled before looking back to the pun filled skeleton.

"I was just wondering, if by chance that you've seen my brother around, he hasn't called back recently, as much as I like pranks I'm starting to worry. Look my bones are rattling here." He continued. The wolf could only assume his brother was another skeleton. He could have kept on walking, the skeleton could be lying to him for all he knew, setting him up for a trap. But, his heart told him otherwise, the skeleton might not have appeared worried, the emotions that were radiating off him told that was not the cause. Link, having to watch over four kids, fully understands what its like to have to find a missing child.

Especially after they were kidnapped, every time he discovered a town, he prayed to the goddesses that the bodies he found weren't theirs. The amount of bodies he had searched through, there should've been far more, but considering that the creatures that raided the towns had to eat, you could see why there were so many missing bodies.

The scent of the stranger was of a strange smell of a weird meat, there was a lingering scent as well, one of them had mixes of tomato sauce and pasta….there was another...pie and flowers

"Hello, anybody in there?" The skeleton suddenly appeared in front of him, forcing him out of his thoughts as a boney fist knocked lightly on the top of his skull.

"Maybe you got clocked out harder than I thought." The skeleton mused, a deep growl rumbled at the base of his throat at the sudden contact. The skeleton quickly pulled it's hand to safety, just as he bared his pearly white canines.

"Relax mutt, there's no need to become FURRious. I'm just looking for help." The skeleton joked again.

'Seriously?' The hylian thought to himself turning to look around for a second. He felt watched.

"Well, I guess time does fly when you're having fun. There's a town just up ahead, if you want a place to get that checked out. See you next time, Mutt." Turning back around, he was surprised to see the skeleton nowhere in sight. The wolf pondered for a moment, he promised Toriel to find and protect Frisk, but he couldn't ignore this plea for help.

The wolf scratched at the ground, searching among the ground in different areas, it wasn't long until he picked up on the trail of the new scent. It led far off the trail, releasing a grumble, he stepped in the deep snow that rised up his furry legs, trudging through the ice. He thanked Hylia that he had a thick coat keeping him warm, on the down side it soaked his furry to the bone.

'These aren't like the monsters in Hyrule, remember that. Anything that you do here can affect everyone', The thought ran through his head. He shouldn't have acted like that in front of the skeleton, it'll draw unwanted suspicion. He was prepared to take every chance of trying to avoid any monsters. Judging from Toriel's reactions and what she had said prior, there was bad history between humans and….monsters. It was no wonder why she was afraid for Frisk, but why would she let a child out of the ruins if it was so unsafe?

'None of this makes sense.'

Quickened his pace, he took in the peaceful land, oh how he wished hyrule was this way. Before this whole thing begun, he had expected everywhere he went to be beautiful, oh how wrong he was. After going one desecrated city to another, beauty was a rare sight. All he ever saw was death, carnage, and suffering, he had never imagined the real world would ever be like this. Just to think, only a few years ago, in that little village, he had every he could have ever asked for.

His search had been about an hour, until a blood curdling scream ripped through the chilly air. Instantly, he sprinted in action, darting towards the scream. Deep and powerful hot breaths whisper from his lungs like smoke. Skidding to a halt, at the tree line. Wild sapphire eyes widening as he saw the sight before him.
