The letters came. Every morning an owl arrived from my parents telling me how I was making a terrible mistake, I should leave Draco, and how evil his family was. One of the most gruesome read:
Sapphire;
Your father and I are so ashamed. There is no greater dishonor in our eyes than for our only daughter to be affiliated with a Malfoy. I truly do not know what you were thinking. If this relationship continues, we may have to consider disowning you. We love you, we do, but we will never accept Malfoy. We are your parents, how could you choose him over us? We don't know how Draco's parents feel, but we're sure they must feel the same about your family. If you change your mind, let us know.
Mummy.
They were wrong. Draco's parent's loved me. Because of the animosity, Lucius and Narcissa had invited me to stay at Malfoy Manor for the Christmas holidays. I hadn't heard from my parents for weeks after I sent them word that I'd be living there during the summer too.
Draco could see that I missed my parents, and it began to bother him. Of course, he spent most of his moments trying to keep my mind off them in the bedroom, but I could tell, he was more concerned than he let on. I wasn't stupid, I knew Draco wasn't a saint. I watched him torture the famous Gryffindor, Harry Potter for a year after my parents stopped communicating with me. I knew in my heart though, I had chosen my path.
After our second year, we both returned to Malfoy Manor for our second summer together. Lucius and Narcissa both welcomed me with open arms. No matter how much I wished my parents would accept Draco the way the Malfoys accepted me, I knew that was impossible. Draco and I discussed this yet again before bed our first night home.
"Baby, why can't my parents see you for who you are?"
"Our parents have hated each other for years, but my mother and father understand true love. As long as I love you, they love you, and they will do anything for you."
"Draco, I miss them."
"I know. I feel they will come to their senses."
An alarming flash of red appeared in Draco's eyes, and his fists clenched.
"What's wrong baby?"
"Nothing sweetheart, your parents just anger me, because they make you upset."
"It will all be okay….how about you come release some of that anger in this bed with me?"
That night, I spent many hours pinned between Draco's body and the wall of his bedroom, then many more between him and his bed, my nails clinging to his back, running down his body. The first time we made love, I truly thought sex could get no better. Damn was I wrong. There was no feeling in the world like that of Draco's erection inside of me, and now that neither of us were virgins, the sex was rough and wild. Lucius and Narcissa knew what was going on, but they didn't mind, as long as we used a protection charm. I was in heaven, every night.
During mid-summer, I was walking back to Draco's room from the kitchen with a bottle of pumpkin juice when I overhead him talking to his parents.
"…..buy it immediately."
"Of course son, when did you plan to propose?"
"When we arrive back at Hogwarts. I'd like her friends to be around."
"Lovely," came the short comment from Narcissa.
"Also, this Christmas, I'm going to surprise her with a trip to see her parents. We can tell them the news together, and I'm going to ask her father for his blessing."
"Ha. Good luck son," Lucius snarled.
"I know, but I want to try, for Sapphire."
"We support your decision son. Congratulations. Narcissa will occupy her while you shop, and next summer a party will be thrown."
"Thank you father, mother."
I held tightly to my pumpkin juice and slammed Draco's bedroom door. It was finally happening. After a year together, Draco was going to propose! I smiled until thoughts of my parents entered my mind.
"Knock, knock dear," came Narcissa's voice.
