Chapter 4: A Step towards the LightThe scream was coming from deep within the forest in the direction that Mai had taken earlier when she had left the group. She had been defeated by one of the islands eliminators, Panik. The sisters did not like Panik, because they believed that he was a coward for they believed that those who hide in the dark fear what the light can reveal. The team had come just in time to see that Mai had lost all her star chips to the eliminator. Panik was making fun of Mai when Yugi transformed in Yami Yugi to battle Panik and win back all of Mai's star chips.
Panik: I am sure your brother, Pegasus, would be very interested in seeing that you two are not doing your jobs.
Jasmine: First, I don't give two shits what my brother thinks or wants. I never asked for this job nor do I obey him when he calls. I am my own person and will do what I want.
Jeanette: Pegasus has no authority over us. Just because he says he is our legal guardian doesn't mean that we obey without question. Besides he is going down a path that we cannot follow, bastard.
Jasmine: I am also pretty sure that he is aware of our allegiance since he has these stupid cameras watching over the contestants. *Points at a hidden camera in the trees.*
Joey: What you mean he has been watching and just lets the contestants starve?
Jasmine: Joey, this is not the time, but to answer your question, you should have brought provisions since you knew you were going to an island.
Joey: What!? I didn't know, but anyways leave Mai alone.
Yami Yugi: I will handle this Joey. I have one thing to say to you, Panik. Let's Duel!
As Yami continued to duel Panik, the sisters were watching the scene from below and knew that he would win. Yami had won the battle, but Panik could not face defeat. He had surrounded the arena in fire and was about to blast Yami when the millennium puzzle glowed and an Egyptian glowing eye appeared on Yami's forehead. At the same time that this was happening, an Egyptian glowing eye appeared on Jasmine's forehead which she tried her best to hide, but the team had already seen it. Yami was protected by the power of the millennium puzzle. He then spoke to Pegasus, "Pegasus, I sense that you are watching. Consider this a warning. Nothing you send against me will stop me, and when we finally duel, believe me victory will be mine. I will win back my grandfather's soul, and you will pay for all the people you've hurt in the name of your sick little game. I am coming for you, Pegasus!" As Yugi gave this speech, Pegasus, who was watching from within the castle, grew upset, and his wine glass broke from the sheer power of Yami Yugi. The image went dark, and Pegasus spoke, "My how you have grown your power in such a short time, but believe me when we finally duel, I will win."
Just as Yugi was descending from the arena, he tried to give Mai her star chips, but she wouldn't take them. She allowed her pride to come between real friendships, but then Joey said that if Mai didn't want them that he would take them. She grew mad and demanded her star chips back. Joey gave her back her star chips and gave his speech about friendship. They left on good terms, and Mai was able to make true friends. The team was discussing what had happened when they told Yugi of what they saw, but Joey intervened to protect Jasmine from the many questions that Yugi had for her. Joey wasn't allowing anyone to come through to talk with her when a rustle from the nearby bushes distracted them. It was another eliminator. He challenged Yugi to a duel, but Jasmine stepped forward and decided to take her first step toward entering the light.
Jasmine: I will duel you, eliminator. Nightmare, Prepare to lose! *whispers to sister* why does every eliminator have such a weird and stupid name?
Jeanette: They came up with the names themselves, and I don't know. I think their idiots. Are you sure you want to duel?
Jasmine: Might as well embrace my Egyptian past! *Winks* I will be fine.
Nightmare: Let's duel. Once I win, you and your sister will be taken back to the castle by Mr. Kemo here.
Jasmine: You will be sorely disappointed, but I will win besides Joey can take Kemo.
Joey: Hey! I will try to protect you and do my best. But that man is a behemoth. I don't think I can take him by myself.
Jasmine: Joey, don't worry. I know martial arts besides sister is trained in kendo. We got this.
Both: Let's Duel!
Jasmine: I will go first. I draw. I place one card faced down and summon Mystical Elf in defense mode. I end my turn.
Nightmare: I draw. I place three cards face down and summon Grave Keeper's Vassal in defense mode. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My turn. I draw. I use the field spell Yami to increase the defense of my Mystical Elf. I summon Maha Vailo in attack position and have him attack your monster.
Nightmare: I use the trap card Mirror Force to send your attack back at you.
Jasmine: I activate my spell card Tornado which can only be activated when there are 3 or more traps and spells on your side. I can destroy one trap or spell card you control. I use it to destroy your Mirror Force. Your monster is destroyed. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. I summon Drillago in attack mode and have him attack your monster. You lose 50 LP which leaves you at 1950 LP. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My move. I draw. I place one card face down and summon Barrier Resonator in defense mode. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My turn. I draw. I will have Drillago attack your monster. I summon Viser Des in defense mode. Thanks to his effect on my 3rd standby phase your Mystical Elf will be destroyed. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My draw. I place one card face down and end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. I summon Grave Keeper's Curse which when summoned deals 500 LP direct damage. You now have 1450 LP. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My draw. I summon Skilled White Magician to the field and have him attack your Grave Keepers Curse. You lose 900 LP which leaves you at 1100 LP. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. I activate the spell card Necrovalley destroying your field spell. I then activate Nightmare's Steel Cage which stops you for 2 of my standby phases. I end my turn which your Mystical Elf is destroyed.
Jasmine: My draw. I summon Giant Soldier of stone in defense mode and attack end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. I activate Stop Defense which I use on Giant Soldier of Stone and have Drillago attack. You lose 300 LP which now you have 1150 LP. I end my turn. And the effects of Steel Cage are gone.
Jasmine: My turn. I draw. I place one card face down and attack with my monster your Viser Des. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. You will lose this game, and you and your sister will return to your brother's side. I place one card face down and end my turn.
Jasmine: My turn. I draw. I will not return to my brother while he continues this path of destruction. I summon Harpie Lady in attack mode. I will have Skilled White Magician attack your Drillago. You lose 100 and now are down to 1000 LP. I will then attack with Harpie Lady directly.
Nightmare: I activate Rite of Spirit which allows me to summon a Grave Keeper from my graveyard. I choose to summon Grave Keepers Curse in defense mode.
Jasmine: Your monster is destroyed instead of your LPs. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My turn. I draw. I place one card face down and summon Grave Keeper's Cannon Holder in defense mode. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My draw. I activate the spell Different Dimension Capsule which allows me to pick a monster from my deck and remove it from play and on my 2nd standby phase I can add the removed card to my hand. I end my turn.
Nightmare: My draw. I activate Metal Reflect Slime which is still a trap but acts like a defense monster with 3000 DP to protect my life points. I end my turn.
Jasmine: My draw and now for your end. First I will take the card removed from play and add it to my hand. I activate Change of Heart and take control of Grave Keeper's Cannon Holder. I will tribute Grave Keeper and Harpie Lady to summon Dark Magician.
Nightmare: Your Dark Magician is not powerful enough to defeat my trap card.
Joey: Yugi can she defeat him?
Yugi: Yes, Joey. There are several cards that can defeat trap cards. Question is does she have what she needs, but I think she does. She is smiling.
Jasmine: Fool, just wait and see. I activate the spell card Dark Magic Attack which as long as I have a Dark Magician on my side of the field I can destroy my opponent's entire trap and spell cards on the field. I attack with Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack. You lose.
Kemo: Time to go girls. You have disobeyed Pegasus long enough.
Jasmine: Not long enough in my opinion, and we are not going anywhere.
Kemo: You will do as you're told or else I wouldn't know what might happen to Mokuba.
Jeanette: You wouldn't that. It is a crime if you hurt him.
Jasmine: Jeanette, enough. We will go with you.
Joey: No, I won't let anyone harm you or take you.
Jasmine: Joey, it will be fine. We will see each other soon. I am pretty sure that you will make it into the castle after all you can't just think of us but Mokuba and Serenity. We won't be tortured. Don't worry. We will never help Pegasus. Bye! *hugs Joey tightly*
Jeanette: She is right. Keep your mind focused on helping Serenity. You will be able to win the money for her. I love you, Joey. *hugs Joey*
Yugi: This isn't right and to threaten you, it's wrong.
Jasmine: Don't worry, Yugi. I know that you have so many questions, but I am pretty sure that you can just ask the spirit of the puzzle. He will guide you down the right path.
Yugi: What do you mean? How can I talk with him?
Jasmine: His power grows strong within you. You just need to look inward, and you will find him. Believe in yourself. Bye *Smiles while walking away with Kemo and Jeanette*
The end of this battle was drawing close, but the war was still far from drawing to its conclusion. Jasmine and Jeanette knew that soon the war for the millennium items would bring them back to the chaos they knew so well in ancient Egypt. Will this time be their chance at a happy ending with no losses or will there be more losses to suffer? The girls knew that they had to be ready for whatever would come next. The fate of the world depended on them and Yugi's team.
