Chapter 4: Frozen Heart
"Dillon, help me please" a voice inside his head said. He woke up suddenly. Panting, he looked around, trying to remember where he was.
Kristoff brought him to the palace, where he met his bubbling wife Anna. The red head was very happy to know Dillon, almost like she's missed him for decades. He pressed his hands on his sweaty forehead sighing: this was a real strange place. He got up and put his jacket on, and got out of the room, starting to explore the place.
Candle lights lit the hallway; the walls were covered in old portraits, maybe royals. Purple curtains were hanging from the windows, and a long green carpet was on the floor. The boy walked slowly toward the window looking at the view outside the castle: snow, only endless snow covered the entire kingdom. He remembered Kristoff saying that this wasn't normal: eternal winter was cast, but nobody could understand what the source of it was. Anna, however, was sure that the cause of it was coming from one person: Elsa.
Dillon asked who she was. The girl, sighing, got up and went to take a portrait. The read head was together in it with a beautiful blond woman, her sister, Elsa. Anna explained that the girl had always had magic, but she couldn't control it. The pain of losing their parents was too much for Elsa then she ran away from the Kingdom. That was the moment that winter came on Arendelle. Everybody put the things together, and blamed the queen for everything.
The boy thought about the woman: he wasn't denying it. She remembered him so much of himself. He actually was doing the same things with the others Ranger, especially with the yellow one: Summer was only trying to help him, and all he did was giving her the silent treatment. He was missing all of them, the squad was strange, but they were friends after all.
A painful headache ran suddenly through his head, making him close his eyes and screaming in pain "Dillon! Help!" a voice in his head said once again. The voice of his dream. He gasped hard for air, suddenly feeling a hand rubbing his back slowly.
After a while, his breath became normal, than he opened his eyes slowly, finding near him Anna, smiling at him. Dillon looked away, almost embarrassed "thanks…" he murmured. They both set on the floor in front of the window, looking out of it "Are you alright Dillon?" Ana asked worried after a while. The boy glanced at her and nodded "Yeah… I'm probably going nuts. I… keep hearing voices" he added scratching his head. He didn't know why he was telling it to the girl: something about her was right for him, he guessed.
"Maybe somebody you miss is thinking about you" she said smiling at him. He nodded only. Maybe she was right. He shook his head and turned to her "So Anna, you're going to find your sister?" he said remembering part of their conversation. She nodded "Yes, I have to find her and said to her that our parents loved her, they didn't run away. Maybe then she will come back" She said firmly. Dillon stared at her: if there was something that he could tell about this girl was that she cared a lot about the others. Elsa was on the top of the list apparently.
He stood up slowly, offering a hand to the girl. She accepted it smiling "Beware, Sven is jealous" The man laughed at that. The sound of it was strange: he didn't remember the last time when he actually laughed "Don't worry, he can sleep in peace, I'm not here to steel you" he added smiling. Anna laughed with him, shoving him with a playful slap on his shoulder "Dillon…." The voice said again "Damn it" he said rubbing his head. Anna looked again at him, knowing what was happening "when this has started?"
He looked on a spot on the wall, far away from the small girl in front of him, thinking. It all has started after he met that woman, for sure "The woman I told you guys about. I don't know, after meeting with her this all came out of nowhere" "the crazy chick you told me about? The one that knew all about you?"
He nodded. He spoke about their meeting, obviously avoiding talking about his hardware and Venjix. He was probably billed as the guy that came out of nowhere. He didn't need to be called a monster, after all. Anna clapped her hands in front of his eyes, making him snapping out from his daydream "I'm sorry, but you were looking oddly at me" she said grinning. He rolled his eyes and looked away. Silent fell between the two. He looked at the portrait on the walls "who are them?" he said pointing to one of them. Anna turned around and sighed. "Those are my parents Dillon" he looked at her and only nodded, feeling stupid that he picked that one out all of the pictures on the wall.
The woman has Anna's lines, all of her remembered Dillon of the girl. The man was for sure a great and strong king: he could tell it from his pose. "Elsa got her power from your mother?" the boy asked. The girl shook her head "No, she wasn't the one that she had them from" she started walking making sure that the ranger was following him. They stopped after a while in front of another one of the pictures "that's my mother, Gerda" she said pointing to the first one "that's Helga, one of her sister" she added pointing to the middle woman.
Is eyes moved to the third woman in the picture: that's when Dillon froze in his spot. Those eyes, he could not believe it "and that's Ingrid, her last sister" The boy stared at the portrait without saying a World. The woman he met in the field was in front of him. Her name was Ingrid, and she was the queen's aunt "Elsa got her powers from her. Both of them can create ice and snow only thinking about it. People in the kingdom know her as the princess with the frozen heart. My aunt Helga died when I was young. Ingrid, however, nobody knows where she is. She disappeared shortly after that" Anna said.
He knew where she was "she was always by herself because of the magic inside of her. Helga was, with my mother, her way to keep on going on. When she died, maybe she thought that she could do it. One day, she was out of the door and nobody saw her anymore" the girl added.
That's the story then Dillon thought. The blond woman was, apparently, watching this place from a far, not being able to come back. What wasn't clear, however, it was why she knew about all of him. How could she know those things about him?
Anna spoke again suddenly "I have to go, but you can stay here as long as you want. Visit the castle, Olaf is outside playing with squirrel if you want some company" she said walking away and, with a wave of her small hand, she was gone. "Yeah right, a snowman chased by squirrel. What a joy" Dillon said to himself. A loud scream rung in his head catching him by surprise. The voice was back again "Dillon Help!" it said. He decided to do something about it.
He started running in the hallways. The voice became stronger as time passed. He collided with a small table, sending a golden urn on the ground. The object bumped on the floor but didn't break, however. He didn't have time to pick it up. "Dillon came here for me please" the voice kept on screaming in his head
He stopped in front of a door. He opened it slowly, only to find a staircase "Dillon…" again. He went down and found himself in the jails area. He looked around: all of them were empty. The floor was wet, like a mop as drew a line on it. everybody would have left in that moment, but Dillon decided to follow it. he walked along it, turning when it was necessary. He looked up when the line stopped and blinked his eyes.
That's when he found her: the source of the voice. He knew that it was familiar. there she was, looking at him. She was here: Yellow Ranger was in front of him. Dillon ran to her and looked into her eyes "What are you doing here Summer? How did you find me?" he asked worried. He wasn't in his World, how could she be here? "I'm glad I've found you however" a voice said behind him.
Dillon turned around quickly, finding the source of the voice: Ingrid. With a wave of her hand, Summer became an ice statue, before being blown away like snow. Then, chains appeared out of nowhere, forcing the man on his knees. He tried to break free, but the grip got harder at every move he made. He looked up and glared at the woman in front of him "what the hell did you do to Summer? Tell me!" he screamed.
Ingrid sighed "I'm sorry, but she was never here sweetheart. I've created her illusion because I needed you here with me". Dillon laughed at her; he was finally seeing how crazy this woman was "need me? For what?" she didn't flinch for a second. Ingrid now knew how to control the boy "look at yourself, so much anger in your eyes. I can only imagine what could you do with it if you can learn how to control it" she then pointed to the chains "the angrier you get, the stronger those chains will hold you, but I bet you've already figured it out, don't you?"
She added smiling, getting on her knees in front of his face. Dillon looked at her, forcing himself to stay calm "and that's all I need now, you out of my way ranger" she added caressing his face. The boy moved his head away from her hand "Everything is going to be fine. But what I really need from you is all the anger that you have inside to get my revenge. That's why I don't want you to change" she whispered before getting up.
Dillon looked at her walking away. That's was her plan: using his dark side to destroy this World. Arendelle was in a great danger: no one knows what that woman could do with his anger and, judging by his past, he got a lot of it inside of him. He looked at the ground underneath him closing his eyes, trying to get his breath to a normal peace "What are you going to do now Ingrid?" he asked with his shaking voice
The woman stopped. She turned around and smiled at him. Dillon looked up and, for the first time, he could see how evil she was only by looking at her face. She laughed at the boy and put her hand on her hart, then answered "Darling" she chuckled "I'm going to build a snowman"
