AN: I know I haven't posted in any of my stories for a very long time but I have an excuse. I was having the worst Writers Block in the world. I would try to write something and nothing would come out the way I wanted it to. And so, I am sorry for the very long delay.
Oh and I have gotten some questions about this I just wanted to let you guys know that I have combined the novel War of the Worlds and the newest movie. I enjoyed both and I loved some things about each. Like the unscrewing of the comet (The book) and the earth being cold to the touch after it hit and such (The new movie)
Chapter Four: Leaving Central
When I woke up I noticed that I was moving and that my head hurt. After a minute or two I realized that I was in a car. Looking around I saw Alphonse I must have been lying on his lap because he was the first one I saw. Looking around some more I saw Hughes, Hawkeye, and the Colonel.
I sat up with a moan and rested my hand on my head.
"Careful brother." Al told me concern in his voice. I grinned at him.
"Don't worry Al. I'm fine." I told him. The last thing I needed was for my little brother to worry about me. But a question came to my mind. Where were we going?
"Where are we going?" I asked out loud. I wanted to know.
"We're leaving Central." The Colonel said from the driver's seat. "We need to get out of here as quickly as possibly. HQ is destroyed. It was taken down by that machine. Central is being destroyed as we speak." He made a sharp turn as he drove past falling debris. "Right now we're heading towards Eastern Command."
"Where's Havoc and the others." I asked.
"In the cars behind us." I looked out the back of the car and saw two cars following after us. I regretted looking behind us because the next thing I saw was the giant machine shoot a laser that destroyed a nearby building. My face went white and I looked back towards the front.
"Colonel…" I started. Mustang looked through the rearview mirror and saw the destruction. He slammed his foot to the gas and made the car go faster. I looked out the window and every where I looked I saw people running and screaming. Then people evaporating into the air the only thing left of them was their clothing.
I heard what sounded like static then followed by Havoc's voice. Must have been a communicator. "Colonel, we can't keep heading this way. We need to find another way." There was crying in the background followed by someone trying to speak calm words. The colonel held the communicator to his face.
"Alright at the next turn I'm following that road." He said. And true to his word at the next turn he went down the road. The two cars followed us. Just as we turned down the road the laser from the machine, I'm calling it a Tripod since it had three legs, went down the road we had been on.
"Good timing…" I said. Al nodded.
"Yeah" he agreed.
"We're not out of this yet boys." Hawkeye said. "We won't be out of this until we're out of Central." Boy that was the understatement of the day. How were we going to get out of Central was the question. I almost screamed when a Tripod appeared before us walking towards us. Mustang swore as he turned the wheel sharply trying to go around it. We managed to go around it just as it's laser thing started zapping the area we had been at.
"Mustang, try not to kill us." I said gasping I was also trying to calm my beating heart since it had decided that now was a good idea to try and have a heart attack. 'Hey I know! I'll have a heart attack! That'll be fun!' Yeah right. Stupid heart.
Mustang just glared at me through the rearview mirror. I glanced behind us to see if the others were behind us and it turned out they were. I sighed in relief. But I still couldn't help but wonder how this had happened. Where had these…things come from? And why were they doing this?
Glancing ahead I could see Central's main entrance up ahead. We made it…We were going to leave Central City. Probably for the rest of our lives. And let me tell you this. At this point I didn't think that would be very long. Everyone in Central were dying. I could hear the screaming all the way over here.
As we got closer all of us swore at once. The stupid gate was close. Dammit! "Fullmetal can you do something about that?" Mustang asked me. Of course I can. Who did he think I was? The Cushion Soft Alchemist?
Clapping my hands I put them to the floor of the vehicle. When I did that blue sparks and electricity flashed from my hands and the wall of the gate ripped in half allowing us to go through.
I had done that just in time too. As soon as the three cars had gone through what remained of the gate another tripod walked by shooting a near by building with it's laser. All four of us breathed a sigh of relief happy that we had survived. At least so far. Unfortunately, we would never be able to go back to Central. But I think we can all live with that at least for a little while.
End Chapter Four
