Chapter Four: Your Human?
Jamie was sat by the hospital bed for 3 days until his parents tried to drag out, Sophie leapt to his defence, between the two of them, it bought them 5 more days, until Jack finally awoke, Jamie looked over at his injured friend,
"Jack, what happened to you?" Jamie asked,
"Martlele Tebnt" Jack muttered,
"Martlele Tebnt?" Jamie asked,
"An ancient Guardian ritual of battle, I lost" Jack told him,
"What happens now… and why can everyone see you?" Jamie asked,
"Wait… what?" Jack asked, looking around, realising it wasn't his home or Jamie's,
"The Doctor's… my parents… they can all see you" Jamie told him,
Jack's eyes went wide as he realised, "She didn't just take my Guardianship… she took my immortality"
Jamie looked at Jack in a whole new light, "Can you still call on Winter?"
Jack looked over at the window, flicking his bandaged wrist at the window, nothing happened.
"She took it… I'm mortal… completely normal" Jack stuttered,
"Is… is there any way to reverse it?" Jamie asked,
"Mother Nature would know, but for that, we'd need all four seasons gathered in one place at once, she's been asleep for millions of years" Jack told him,
"So… where's the spirit of spring and autumn?" Jamie asked,
"Never met them, about 50 years ago they vanished, no-one's heard from them since, many believe they passed on" Jack told him, "Even if we did, we'd need Summer and Winter to agree to her summons"
"Which would be a problem, as you're no longer the Winter Spirit" Jamie told him,
"Yeah" Jack agreed, avoiding nodding due to the lingering pain of the battle, suddenly fatigue cut in and Jack had to rest,
"I'll be here Jack, waiting" Jamie smiled to him, watching as Jack fell asleep.
Jamie sat there for a few hours until his naugh, Mrs. Falls walked in,
"Hello young Jamie" Mrs. Falls smiled kindly to him, she was always kind to Jamie, she'd lived in burgess for nearly 40 years, many people couldn't imagine Burgess without her,
"Mrs. Falls" Jamie smiled to her before looking back over at Jack,
"So this is the famous Jack" She smiled looking him over, her orange eyes looking over him, "He's all the children are talking about during Winter"
"Yeah…" Jamie smiled lightly,
"Well he certainly is unusual, not many people have Silver hair at his age" Mrs. Falls chuckled sitting down,
"He's older than he looks" Jamie replied,
"I thought so" Mrs. Falls nodded, "Where is he living?"
"He's Kinda new to town" Jamie told him,
"Is he going to stay with you?" Mrs. Falls asked,
"I doubt Dad would let me" Jamie sighed,
"Well as you seem so close to him, and I have the room, how about he can come and live with me, until he's himself again" Mrs. Falls nodded, "When they release him, send him to my house"
Jamie blinked at her several times, "T-t-thank you!"
"It is no trouble, now, I must be off Young Jamie, send my greeting to your great grandmother" Mrs. Falls nodded as she left, leaving Jamie alone with Jack, Jamie turned back to the sleeping boy, brushing some hair out of his face,
(The North Pole)
The four Guardians paced up and down thinking over what had happened in the last few days, first Rosa vanishes, and then Baby Tooth vanishes too,
"So you think Jack succeeded in him aim?" North asked,
"I think that's why he's human, he's hiding Winter where even he cannot find it, As long as Rosa doesn't find him, then Winters Power will be broken and Mother Nature will rise again" Tooth nodded,
"We should try and find autumn and spring, maybe they can help protect Jack until that happens" North nodded,
"I think Baby Tooth's beating us to it, I bet that's where she's gone, to look after Jack… as best she can" Tooth smiled,
'Rosa seemed familiar to me, anyone else get that feeling?' Sandy asked in golden letters,
"Yeah, that look in her eyes, almost like… but it couldn't…" North breathed, "We must go to my Library… check records!"
The Guardian's all rushed off, unaware of a shadow watching them, as they left the room, a figure grew from the shadows and stood there,
"Clever Frost, Very clever… but I will find you… and then Winter will be mine" Rosa smiled, turning her back on the Guardian's, "But first I think its time for my Father to return, the world is in need of a little Fear"
With that Rosa slipped into the shadows and vanished, leaving the hallway empty.
Hmm… shorter than what I normally write… but it'll do… this story's plot seems so… light compared to my new stuff… hmm… maybe I need to get back to the dark lovy stuff.
