Chapter Four

Ally's P.O.V.

"Bikini's-check. Sunscreen-check. Journal-check. Guitar-check. Okay, looks like I got everything," I said to myself. Today all of the level one and two counselors were leaving for camp. The third and fourth level counselors had been at camp for a couple weeks already.

Nerves rang through my veins, I wasn't sure how I would deal with a summer without Trish. I mean, sure she would be there in the camp with me, but we wouldn't be working side by side. My mother always used to tell me to stop being so codependent on other people, Trish included. I never believed her until now, when I was scared to be anywhere without my best friend. But that's part of growing up right? Learning to be dependent?

I glanced up at the clock in my room, Dallas was fifteen minutes late. It was a thirty minute drive to the camp site, where was he?

Well considering the fact that he might be even later, I walked down the hall to my small recording studio. It had once been my dad's office, but he moved that downstairs.

Headphones on, I turned the music on. I decided on NONONO's "Pumpin Blood". Foot tapping on the newly changed wood floors, my voice rang through the room.

Hey heart, on the road again, moving on, forward.

Sticks and stones won't break the bones.

They're in the car, on the highway.

It's so magical, feeling, that no one's got a hold.

You're a catalyst to your happiness you know.

This is your heart, its alive.

It's pumpin blood.

It's your heart, it's alive.

Its pumpin blood.

And the whole wide world is whistling.

And it's whistling.

Hey heart, on the run again, driving strong, anywhere.

Sticks and stones won't take his course.

Sky's the ball, and it fits it.

It's the best of world's feeling, like nothing can go wrong.

Hear the sirens, the world, you are catching on.

Cause it's your heart, it's alive.

It's pumpin blood.

It's your heart, it's alive.

It's pumpin blood.

And the whole wide world is whistling.

Hey heart, won't you run again.

On the highway, on the highway.

Hey heart, won't you run again.

On the highway, on the highway.

Cause it's your heart, it's alive.

It's pumpin blood.

And it's your heart, it's alive.

It's pumpin blood.

And the whole wide world is whistling.

It's whistling (x3)

I grinned, setting the headphones down as my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Ally! I'm on my way right now!" Dallas sounded out of breath, but I could hear the car engine.

"Okay, see you soon." I stared at my phone for a few moments before shaking off the shadowing feeling. Everything was fine.

Making sure everything was locked up, I grabbed my stuff and headed out the door to wait outside.

Head up, ear buds in, legs stretched out in the warm sun; it was a hot morning, my white legs heating up quickly. "The City" by The 1975 came on and I grinned, one of my favorite songs.

Glancing up, I saw Dallas pull up in his truck. I waved at him as he honked, grabbing my stuff and throwing them in the back, minding to be careful with my guitar case.

"Are you ready for an awesome summer?" He asked as soon as I was in the car. I leaned over the seat to kiss him softly, he tasted like strawberries.

"Mmm, yes!" And off we were. Radio on, windows open, summer on!
