Malerie left the two doctors office with the voice recorder in hand. She held it tight as she thought of ways to approach Raleigh. Was she going to just talk to him during breakfast tomorrow morning or should she wait for him by his room? She wasn't sure what her plan was but she knew she needed to do it soon.

Even though the doctors were not a hundred percent certain that their theory was right, Malerie didn't want to take any chances. The kaijus had destroyed enough homes and ruined enough lives. She wasn't going to just take any chances in the resurface of a kaiju or a breach. Malerie was determined to make sure that they never reach land. And the only way to do that, was to get into Raleigh's head.

The next morning, after breakfast, Malerie headed to the training hall to train by herself. She had wanted to get her brother to join her but he was far too sleepy to budge so she decided to do it by herself.

She was moving around with her fighting stick in hand, fluid with her actions. As her back was faced towards the entrance, she couldn't see if there were anyone behind her. So, just as she turned and changed to a striking position, her stick nearly collided with Raleigh's face. But, even before her stick could touch his face, he caught it in his hands just as Malerie stopped swinging it.

"You're pretty quick." Raleigh said, "No wonder they call you Agile Malerie."

Malerie stood straight and lowered her arms, "That's one of them. I have a couple more nicknames."

"You do?" Raleigh asked
"Yup. Mad Malerie, Menacing Malerie, Boring Malerie, Jilted Malerie and oh! Malerie the Loner." She replied

Raleigh chuckled, "Malerie the Loner?"

She put her stick back with the others in a huge holder by the side, "Yup. Besides hanging out with my brother… I don't really have any other friends."

"Well, I find that hard to believe." Raleigh said

Malerie shrugged as she reached overhead for her towel, which was hanging conveniently for her to reach. As she did that, Raleigh couldn't help but notice the sight of a scar that peeked out from under Malerie's shirt. From the looks of it, he figured he must be looking at the tail end of the scar.

Feeling the cool breeze touch her skin, Malerie quickly pulled the towel down and cleaned off her sweat. She turned around just as Raleign looked back at her. She grabbed her gym bag off the floor and quickly made her way out of the training hall. She knew she was there to get an answer from Raleigh but knowing that he must have seen the scar, she wasn't ready to face questions from him.

Malerie needed to get out of there.

As she walked down the hallway, memories she suppressed and only shared with her brother through the drift started swirling around in her brain. She needed to get away. Away from any other human. The first person she should go to was her brother but he was having a meeting with the Marshal.

Unknowingly, she had walked right into the Jaeger chamber, where all the Jaegers were housed. She looked up and right in front of her stood Dixie Damage.

The only other comfort she had. Malerie readjusted her hold on her gym bag as she walked towards the stairs bringing her to the head of Dixie Damage.

The door had been left open, probably because the technicians were taking a break from upgrading the system and interior of Dixie Damage. Since there wasn't anyone, Malerie figured she'd be able to have at least a few minutes to herself. She set down her gym bag by the corner and sat at the step into Dixie Damage. It didn't take long until memories from her childhood came back to her.

"Malerie? What are you doing here?"

A young Malerie Caffrey looked up at her mother, who was dressed in a t-shirt and sweatpants, with her hair done up in a French braid.

She sat down next to Malerie, "How did you manage to sneak up here? It's dangerous to be here unsupervised."

Malerie grinned sheepishly, "I know… But I couldn't take another minute with the tour guide."

Her mother laughed, "Malerie… That's rude… But also true. Anthony does have a problem with taking his tour guide duties too seriously."

"Will I ever be like you one day?" Malerie asked
"Malerie… You can be anyone you want to be. But always choose wisely. Don't let others affect your decisions." Her mother replied

She looked at her daughter, "If you want to be a Jaeger pilot, you can. Who knows? You might be an even better Jaeger pilot than your father and I."

Malerie smiled at her mother who reciprocated with a kiss on her forehead.

She blinked back the tears threatening to leave her eyes. Using the back of her hand, Malerie wiped at her eyes, making sure no tears escaped. She looked into the pilot chamber of Dixie Damage and took in a deep breath.

"I miss you guys." Malerie said into thin air.

"Malerie?"

Malerie turned around to see one of the technicians standing behind her. She quickly stood up and picked up her gym bag.

"Sorry Mac." Malerie said, "I was just about to head out."

The man with the slightly greying hair smiled, "That's alright, Malerie. I was taking a break anyway."

He looked at the interior of Dixie Damage before looking back at her.

"Thinking about your parents?" Mac asked
"Yeah…" Malerie replied
"They would be real proud of you, Malerie. You and your brother are both great Jaeger pilots." Mac said

Malerie smiled, "Thanks Mac."

Mac smiled back before heading into the pilot chamber of Dixie Damage, ending the conversation with Malerie.
