On with the story~
"Uncle?" Zuko called his uncle from the tea room. "Yes, dear nephew?"
"All is ready now. For the trip." The Fire Lord said as he sat down by the empty seat near Iroh. His uncle nod as he sipped his tea. He then turned to Zuko with a sly grin on his face. "You know. I have heard that Katara has very much changed." It was then Zuko's turn to looks at his uncle with a very confused look.
"A princess now as I've heard. Beautiful, still smart but very very wise. And the Avatar's not th-"
"Uncle," Zuko sighed as he pinched and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Stop. Even though Aang's not there, Katara..she-she belongs to someone else, okay? I-I just don't want to take her away from him." His eyes fell on the floor and his lips in a tight line. Iroh chuckled at his actions and sipped his tea. "You are a very good man, nephew. And a wise man too. No wonder all the women wants you!" Both men laughed, making the atmosphere a bit lighter.
Someone then knocked at the door that cut off the men's laughter. "Yes?" Zuko shouted from the inside. "Fire Lord Zuko? Everything is set and ready for the South." A soldier's muffled voice from behind the doors was heard. "Ah, thank you. I will be out in a minute." Zuko answered partly smiling. He then stood up and hugged his uncle. "Take care of the nation for me." He broke the hug and smiled at his uncle again. "Take care of yourself too, uncle." Iroh smiled and patted Zuko's shoulders. "I'll write to you during my stay there." The Fire Lord then went off leaving Iroh behind with a sad smile.
Zuko did admit that he misses the open sea but never tells it to anyone. He missed the wind blowing past his face and the waves slowly yet gently rocking the boat.
A week has passed and all Zuko did was stay in his room. He practiced his firebending, read tons of scrolls, wrote to his uncle, ate, slept, and just wondered on what might happen to him at the South. The breeze then became colder and colder, indicating that the destination was near.
A knock at the metal door was then heard. "Fire Lord Zuko, we have arrived the Southern Water Tribe." The soldier then left and Zuko readied himself as he wore a reddish parka and left his hair down. He then sighed and closed his eyes. "Okay Sparky," he mumbled to himself. "Time to do this."
Zuko stepped out of the metal ship. He was followed by soldiers carrying his luggage. They were met by a crowd and also the chief. He went nearer to them and bowed to the Southern Tribe's royalty. "Chief Hakoda." He greeted. The said man bowed back and greeted Zuko. "Fire Lord." Both retreated to their standing and firm position. Hakoda patted Zuko at the shoulder and smiled at him. "It's good to see you again, Zuko." The young man smiled back, a bit of happiness lingering to his heart knowing that there is someone who is always there to greet him.
Hakoda then went beside to an older woman, much similar to how he looks. Blue eyes, tanned skin, white hair, and hair loopies. Wait. Hair loopies. That seems oddly familiar. Oh no. Oh no no no. Is that-
"Zuko, you must have heard of my mother, Kanna." Hakoda introduced the old woman beside him with a smile.
"Y-yeah." He gulped hard before bowing down. He then looked at Kanna and was scared to see her glaring at him. "You do have heard of me, have you, young Fire Lord? Not to mention you once threaten my village filled with old people and children with those firebenders of yours. That was a very rude thing you did, deary." Kanna continued talking making Zuko flinch and sweat nervously.
They were then cut off by a small voice saying tons of excuse me's and sorry's in the crowd as it passed through. The small voice was Katara's as she exclaimed a huge sorry to someone she just stepped foot to. She sighed and fixed her gown, grinned, and walked near her grandmother and father. "I'm so so sorry. It took time for Eniah to fix me 'cause you know, hehe." She nervously laughed at her father before he cleared his throat. "What?" She side glanced at where his father was facing. Her expression then changed to a mix of shock, happiness, and surprise. "Oh hi, Zuko. I mean Fire Lord. Fire Lord Zuko." She smiled sweetly at him and curtsied. "Hello, Princess Katara."
One by one, the number of people began to diminish. The royal family then invited the Fire Lord to their home for a feast. Hakoda led Zuko to his room first where all his luggage were placed and told him to feel at home. But the truth is, Zuko could never be at home. It was too cold to call it home.
The feast started an hour and a half after Zuko arrived. Most were traditional Water Tribe dishes and some from his Nation just to suit his taste. There were dancing afterwards and Zuko had the pleasure to just watch them from where he was sitting. He saw Katara in the circle who then called him and invited him to dance. Still, he declined her and just clapped his hands through the beat of the music.
A few moments later, the dancing stopped and only left the music. He sipped his wine but was cut off by Katara who slightly jumped at him making him spill his drink. "Oops, sorry." She apologized. "It's okay, Katara." He forgave her while giving her a warm smile. She sat beside him and offered him more wine. He gladly took it which made Katara smile.
"I'm sorry about you and Mai by the way." She said quickly. His eyes widened and looked at her. He chuckled softly and shook his head. "It's okay. It wasn't your fault anyway and besides, she moved on." He smiled at her again and she smiled back. "So, how are things with you and Aang?" Katara didn't replied and a pregnant silence was followed after.
"So, your grandmother hates me."
"Yeah. After y'know..that." Katara agreed and nodded her head. "So Zuko.."
"Hmm?"
"Would you like to go um.."
"Go what?"
Katara took his hands and gripped them tightly as she stared into his eyes. He gulped and stared back at her. "Would you like to..gopenguinsleddingwithme?" She mumbled the last line as fast as she could.
"What?"
