Ch4:An Unfair Game of Push&Shove

Bella looked up at Jake moving her freshly cut side bangs out of her green contact eyes, she could fool people who didn't know her but Jake knew her eye color. It definitely was not green.

"Take a seat." She nodded her head towards one of the seats that Jake usually had his employees sit at.

"Fuck no. You come in my company and tell me what to do? No way. I'll stand. What the hell are you doing here and where are all my business people at?" Jake spread his legs shoulder length apart and crossed his arms.

Bella laughed before looking at her nails. "I sent them home obviously." Bella shrugged spinning around in his chair twice. Jake saw a flash of orange and black as she twirled. She had tanned way too much this time.

Jake balled up his fists. This meeting was really important and she knew that. Jake was going to lose a lot of money if he waited too long to close this deal.

He knew she was trying to piss him off and at this moment she was doing a terrific job at it. It was the only thing she knew how to do now.

Bella didn't piss him off in the good way that Leah had.

Leah had a reason to piss him off; she didn't remember anything that they had in the past she was only thirteen after all when Jake left. The anger he thought he had towards Leah stemmed from pent up sexual frustration and the fact that she couldn't remember. But he couldn't blame her for not remembering at least not right now.

The anger he felt towards Bella would cause Jake to end up hiring someone to gag her, take her and then finally throwing her over the nearest bridge, never to be heard from again.

Bella definitely didn't start out this way when they had run off together when Jake was only seventeen and she was twenty. The only thing Washington seemed to be good for was the consenting age being sixteen.

Jake let her get away with too much and she still thought she had control over him. Fuck no! That was done.

"Because?" Jake was giving her a chance here.

"Well someone cut off my funds." She started and Jacob laughed so she dropped that little subject real quick. "We needed to talk and since you turned off your phone I figured I'd stop by and see my hubby face to face." She smiled sweetly as she finally got out of his chair.

She was wearing a lot of expensive jewelry that just came out somewhere in Paris, along with a dress she probably had designed and made just so she could come here to speak to him. From the looks of it she definitely maxed out the spending limit on his card before he even had the chance to cut her off.

"When I didn't answer that should have fucking told you something. I have nothing to say to you." Jake unfolded his arms glowering at her.

Bella ran her manicured index fingernail over the top of his chair as she walked closer in his direction, heels clinked with every step she made. "Maybe not right now, but when you think it over you'll realize that you over reacted and give me another chance."

Jake wondered if her being in the tanning bed for too long had given her brain damage.

"Over reacted?" Jacob shook he really didn't want to hit her, but she was so close. So very close. "Fucking my former friend, colleague, and business partner in what I believed to be our home in what was supposed to be our bed was definitely not an overreaction and I will never forgive you for that. To hell with giving you another chance." Jake was gritting his teeth to calm himself but finding that he was just getting more irritated as he stood there watching her step even closer to him.

She was just one chair away from him now and if she knew what was good for her she would stay right there.

"What we have," She moved her hand between the air between them. "…is way more than that one night stand with Sam and the few times with Edward." Bella looked off towards the side after seeing that Jake wasn't falling for her bullshit this time.

"So you admit it now? What happened to me 'slandering' your name when we were in court last time?" Jake asked her.

Bella shrugged, rolling her eyes. "Slip of the tongue."

"I'm pretty sure both Edward's fiancée and Sam's wife wouldn't have appreciated your 'slip of the tongue' as you like to call it. You are a fucking home wrecker." Jake brought up and Bella flinched before trying to seem nonchalant but Jake knew that got to her. Bella didn't know about either woman until after Jake had caught Bella in the act. Once the media got their hands on the situation hearing about the divorce and the accusations, all hell broke loose.

She smiled softly before doing the one thing she always did to reel him back in. "You really want to throw away almost ten years of the love we shared?"

"Love?" Jake coughed. "You don't know the meaning of the word." Jake snarled.

"What did you expect? You left me in that big house all by myself day and night only caring about this silly business of yours. What about me?" she looked like she was about to start with the water works. The victim card was always her best trick. Jake was surprised that she hadn't done that as soon as he had come in the room. He definitely wasn't going to fall for it this time though.

"This silly business of mine is the one thing that kept all those black cards you loved to max out, and the pretty little checks steadily coming when your little acting career didn't quite pan out." Jake shook his head at her.

"My acting career is quite alright thank you very much." She grimaced as if she were in pain, holding on to her stomach. "What about us and our future? You promised me."

"I gave up so much for you Bella and you repaid me by showing me every reason why I should have listened to everyone else. We're done. My promise was broken the moment you broke yours. There is no more us, or were the divorce papers showing up to your mom's door not enough?" Jake asked really looking at her for what felt like the first time.

She definitely wasn't even remotely close to the woman he had fallen in love with so many years ago. That twenty year old girl was dead and now in his face stood an overly tanned twenty eight year old bitter woman that had done hardly anything but mooch off Jake for five years.

"It wasn't enough Jacob no one breaks up with me over a freaking piece of paper and you will take me back. It's only a matter of time." Bella seemed to collect herself when she realized her tears weren't working on him anymore. "I'll be seeing you around hubby." She touched his shoulder softly as she walked out the room.

As soon as Jake heard the elevator ping he walked over to his floor to ceiling window leaning his hand against the wall next to him looking out into the dark night of Seattle. Bella had just left his office but she was already off his radar as soon as she had left the room. Jacob's thoughts trailed back to Leah, he wondered what she was doing at that exact moment somewhere in the same big city as he was.

Leah had gotten to her small loft lugging her big black bag up the steps towards the place she was safely starting to call home. As soon as she opened the door, she noticed the lights were off so Rosalie probably ended up crashing at her boyfriend Emmett's house. Leah still hadn't told her best friend about the fact that she was working in a strip club and she felt kind of bad until tonight.

Now she would never have to tell anyone again because she was never going back. Not even if her life depended on it, she wasn't.

No matter how fine the man was. She had to stop thinking that.

Get him out of your head Leah. You are never going to see him again.

Leah dropped her bag on the floor next to the entrance.

Leah closed her front door and made sure to lock the bottom and top lock before chaining the door. Leah lived in a pretty nice neighborhood but Leah was still paranoid. A girl alone in the city could never be too careful. Especially with what would soon be her previous occupation being dangerous after she left the building.

Leah remembered hearing a story that a girl name Cherry told, Leah couldn't recall her real name. But a guy that had been watching her dance for a year finally took it upon himself to follow her all the way home. Finally getting what he felt was his money's worth. Had Cherry not begged her boyfriend to stay the night before she would have probably ended up getting taken, raped, hurt or killed. The story stuck with Leah for some reason she definitely never wanted that to happen to her. Ever. So she was always overly cautious.

Leah pulled off her shoes and threw them next to the table. Then padded across her small living room up the two wide steps up to her kitchen, she went to a refrigerator opened the freezer and took out the small tub of ice cream, grabbed a spoon and sat it on the counter looking over at her black bag.

Not going over there. Not going to look. Nope.

I am strong. I can ignore it. Stay strong Leah! Stay strong!

The stupid contracts were bugging the hell out of her. She had to get her mind off of it before it drove her insane. The bath wasn't going to do anything but make her wonder more. Nope she needed to blank out her mind so that she wouldn't go over there and look.

She walked over to what she had made her painting section and grabbed a rolled up piece of paper. She moved the four stepping stool ladder closer to the wall. She stepped to the highest step and taped down the thick paper so that it covered her wall from the top of the ceiling to the bottom of the floor. She looked at her painting utensils and smiled but realized she wouldn't really be able to focus until she knew what was in that damn stupid contract.

So she walked over to her black bag, unzipped it and pulled out both set of papers, which were now crinkled and partly rolled up.

Leah got up holding on to the sheets of paper grabbed her ice cream off the counter and plopped down on her couch, folding her legs beneath her. She put the ice cream on the arm of her couch not really wanting to eat it with how fast her heart was beating.

Leah looked over the first document that actually had her signature on it already and didn't see Jake's name in there anywhere like she had said before. The only mention of him was that he received seven percent off top no questions asked.

She grabbed her glasses that somehow always ended up on her coffee table and put them on and decided that just glancing at it obviously wasn't going to work. So she started on page one that was fine, she flipped through two and three. Page four was where her problem began.

On page four randomly placed there were two sentences that Leah swore she hadn't seen before. "The owner and or manager can freely ask for you to dance if it pleases them…." Leah scowled at the paper before she continued to read. "This contract is binding until given date or terminated only by J.B." Leah frowned as she noticed her signature and initials right next to the statements she had thought she never saw before. That was definitely her scribble of a signature but why didn't she remember signing it?

Leah thought back as she sat in James office signing all the papers, by page two she was ready to get out of there. The way he was looking at her wasn't pleasant and she really didn't want that stare to be on her any longer than it had to be. She never had the chance to read the document the night before because she had her midterm to study for, if only she had then maybe…

Shit! Shit! Shit!

Leah threw the paper on the floor angrily and stared at it for a few seconds. The given date was until she graduated from college. She didn't want to be working for that place forever. And she definitely didn't plan on dancing for that asshole had he tried asking her again. She wasn't even going to be seeing him. She just wanted to know what she had signed. At least that's what she kept trying to convince herself.

She picked up the other contract she hadn't signed. Jake had told her this option would be better but after reading it she wasn't sure which were the lesser of two evils. The contract she hadn't signed stated that she no longer had to work at the club. Well that was a plus. And it made the other contract null and void. Leah continued to read on.

She would get a black card for whatever she wanted but she had to be around him all the time. Leah didn't get past the details of living with him as one of the stupid regulations of the contact.

Leah seriously considered ripping it but she couldn't so she just balled it up and threw it on the floor placing her glasses back on the table.

Damn him! Damn him to hell!

He really thought he was just going to waltz into her life and buy her like a common street walker? Nope, she wasn't having that.

He could go fuck himself for all she cared.

It wasn't like he knew where she lived. As long as she stayed away from the club she would be okay, right?

"Stupid asshole jerkface prick…." Sexy, fine, tall ass man. Leah furiously got up and walked over to her room.

"Has the fucking audacity!" She changed into her painting clothes, which was really only her black bra, a white camisole top and some overalls.

Leah shook her head, now she was talking to herself? That was never good.

Leah stomped out of her room, over to her sink and filled a metal can, that had originally been a can of Spaghetti-O's, with water.

She angrily stalked over to her paint brushes and slammed the metal can down, water splattered around on her arm and floor but she really didn't care.

She grabbed her favorite paint brush and pulled open her colors, wetting her paint brush before putting it in the color brown. She began to calm down as she painted, she would forget about him she thought to herself as she heard her cell phone ring. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. But he said he wanted to see her in three days? Boy was he in for a big surprise when he found out she was never going to show up!

Leah didn't have classes this week before the summer session started and she seriously thought about going home to visit her family and friends but with needing to find a new job now, a break back home wasn't an option. Leah didn't bother ever going back to the club to see Jacob. In fact four days had gone by and she hadn't heard a word from him.

So her assumption was correct he had no way to contact her! Leah was elated; her only problem now was she would be broke by the end of the month and she still had bills to pay. She needed money and she needed it fast but this time she was going to do it the right way.

After putting out her resume to a few places, Leah drove back home in hopes to paint but as soon as she opened her front door she saw Rosalie in her kitchen sucking on a lollipop.

"You know you might as well move in with how much you're always in here." Leah said as she walked in and closed her door.

"I was thinking that I might just do that but then you would never miss me." Rosalie threw the wrapper away in the trashcan and walked over to Leah's couch draping herself across it.

Leah laughed at her. "Yeah, you're right about that."

"Bitch." Rosalie pouted.

"Whore." Leah joked with her.

"So Emmett is coming to pick me up later with his rich friend who is recently single and must I say sexy. If I didn't have my Emmett then that guy could definitely get it." Rosalie said watching as Leah threw her handbag on the counter.

"The last time you tried to set me up I ended up with a purple drink all over my favorite light peach dress. Hell no." Leah shook her head and walked towards her bedroom.

Rosalie hurriedly got off the couch holding on to her piece of candy on a stick. "Please, please, please come? I already said you would." Rosalie put her green sucker back in her mouth.

"What's his name?" Leah decided to ask. Maybe if she seemed interested it would get Rosalie out of her house faster.

"You know… Emmett never told me. Just that they worked together and he's real cool. You need to get out more, the name isn't important I trust Emmett's judgment." Rosalie plopped down on Leah's bed.

"Ha! It figures. Sometimes I wonder how we became best friends." Leah pulled off her nice sweater placing it back on the hanger.

"You love me, it's really impossible not to but seriously come on Lee. Be fun and spontaneous for once. You're either caught up in your paint and or Skyping it up with Embry. Don't get me wrong, that boy he is definitely hot. But he isn't here. You guys still act like a couple even though you say you aren't" Rosalie was now draping on Leah's bed.

"That's because we aren't together, we're just friends." Leah said.

From Leah's mirror on her closet door she could clearly see Rosalie mimicking her as Leah talked. Rosalie turned on her stomach and began kicking her feet on the bed softly. "First off no girl and guy who have already been in a relationship can ever really just be 'friends' forget the sex because you obviously aren't getting any."

"Don't start this again Rose I'm perfectly fine with being a virgin. Unlike some people I pride myself in still being one." Leah stuck her tongue out at her friend.

"Back to the double date thing I kind of gave the guy your address already." Rosalie looked smiled sheepishly, probably waiting for Leah to explode.

What if the guy was some psycho? Leah didn't have a peep hole to see who would be at her door. As much as she loved her best friend sometimes she wondered about Rosalie.

Leah was fuming but she kept herself calm. Rosalie put up with Leah's antics, she could put up with hers. "I'll just send him home. Go get ready for your date Rose. I have other plans tonight with two guys anyway." Leah smiled at her best friend.

Rosalie sat up on Leah's bed putting her feet on the floor. "Who?"

"Ben and Jerry." Leah muttered walking out of her room.

It took Rosalie a good minute to get it. "Leah!" Rosalie whined.

"Okay, okay I'll go now get out of my apartment." Leah was pushing her friend towards her front door.

"Be ready by six and I better see you a Club Rocks tonight with the guy or me and you missy are having a long talk." Rosalie said.

Leah opened the door, "Yeah, yeah." pushed Rosalie gently out and shut the door locking it. It wouldn't keep Rosalie out if she had decided to come back in but it made Leah feel better.

She wasn't going anywhere tonight. She already had a plan to finish up the artwork she had angrily started four days ago. She still didn't know what it was becoming yet but she liked it she thought as she went back to her room, changing out of her nice skirt and put back on her usual overalls. She really needed to do laundry since all her usual camisoles were dirty.

Leah put on her glasses and began painting, letting the time drift from her. She didn't even realize how close it was to being six o' clock until she heard the knock on her door. Not that it mattered she was just going to send the poor guy home anyway.

Just ignore it and he'll go away.

Leah waited in silence, not daring to even open her eyes for fear that the guy outside would be able to hear her. She heard another knock and figured she might as well let the guy down to his face. She set her can of water down and placed her paintbrush in it and walked over to her door.

She unchained it and unlocked both locks before pulling the door open.

"Leah?"

Oh God no. She had done good so far not seeing him.

It would figure he would be the rich, sexy, recently single guy.

"Jake…" Leah was about to slam the door but his foot came out and stopped her from shutting the door just in time.

"Hey, hey now, let's talk. All I want to do is talk." Jake was pushing against the door. Leah hardly found this push and shove thing fair at all. He was like two times her size!

"I have nothing to say to you asshole." Leah clenched her teeth as she shoved herself harder into the door.

Leah was literally using every ounce of her strength to push the door close with her hands. But Leah was no match for his strength as he finally got his way in.

"I so call this breaking and entering." Leah mumbled as he came fully in shutting the door behind him. "I'm going to kill Rosalie." Leah vowed as she stood in front of him.

He was once again dressed very nice, in a gray buttoned down shirt and dark blue jeans, and shoes that Leah hadn't even known were out yet.

She knew she probably looked a hot mess but what did she care, maybe that would give him a reason to leave.

"Wow this really is a small world." Jake sounded like he was talking to himself. "You know Emmett?" Jake asked.

"I've met him a few times. That's not that person who should be worried though." Leah answered thinking of thirty ways to get her revenge on her meddling best friend.

"You didn't see me like I had asked you to." Jake said he almost sounded sad. Leah wasn't going to let that get to her.

"And you aren't the boss of me. I also threw away your crappy ass contracts but that's neither here or there. Get out Black." Leah said walking back over to her paint since his large body was blocking the door.

Instead of leaving like she wanted he followed her over to where she was painting. "It was just a copy I can easily have it reprinted. You have to go by one of the contracts there really is no other option."

"If you don't want my paint all over your million dollar outfit you should leave while you still can." Leah threatened.

Jake shrugged completely ignoring her as he looked over her paint work. "That looks like…" he started but he didn't finish his sentence.

Leah was confused. It shouldn't have looked like anything yet. Leah stepped back and looked at it, she had spent four days pretending she hadn't thought about him but in reality she really sat there and painted a portion of his face. She didn't even know she had stared at his face that long for her to remember it as clearly as she did. Leah wanted to slap herself. He now knew where she lived. He was here in her home and since she couldn't seem to get him out of her house she was going to have to talk to him whether she wanted to or not.
