The sound of two bodies hitting the ground sounded slightly in the air of a forest as well as two deep breaths being expelled.
Deep in one of the forests of Royal Woods, a white haired male teen along with a teenage female brunette sat on the ground back to back. Dirt was on their clothing as said articles were also had a few cuts here and there.
The white haired teen stretched a bit, grunting as he heard a few popping sounds. "I'd say that was a successful day of training, huh Renee?"
The girl simply giggled as she turned around a bit to look at her friend. "Yeah… I guess so. Though I didn't expect you to find something to use as a weapon, especially a makeshift spear."
"Well... I do always say to keep an ace in the hole." The boy responded, looking down at the so called weapon. It was simply a long pole with a rock that was shaped like an arrowhead tied to one end of it. He picked up the makeshift weapon before opening a small blue menu and holding it towards it as the screen rippled and the item disappeared into it.
"You wouldn't happen to have anything to drink in there would you Linc?" Renee asked, an hopeful look on her face. Their training session had worked up a bit of a thirst for her and she had forgotten to bring a couple of bottles of water from home as she had rushed out the house to make sure she got to school on time.
Lincoln simply shook his head with a small chuckle. "Nah sorry Renee. Forgot to pack some this morning."
Renee frowned before sighing as she stood up to dust off her clothing and straighten her skirt. "Well… you ready to head back then?"
"Yeah, but I do have one thing I kind of want to ask you though." The white haired teen said, going for their bags.
"And that is?" Renee questioned, grabbing her bag as Lincoln handed it to her. Lincoln closed his eyes for a moment, scratching the back of his head as well.
"Do you know anyway we can possibly speed up the training?" Lincoln started, crossing his arms. "We've been doing exercises and sparring for a week now, but it's starting to earn me less and less experience. The fact that it's still managing to get me decent XP is great and all, but eventually it's going to become ineffective and not worth it anymore."
Renee raised an eyebrow, a frown on her face. "So you're worried that you might get too good for my training?"
"I don't mean it like that!" Lincoln quickly corrected, not wanting to seem unappreciative or rude to his friend. "I really appreciate everything you done for me Renee honest. I'm just wondering if there is anything we can do to step it up soon. I don't want to hit a wall."
Renee placed a hand to her chin closing her eyes in thought as she pondered over his words. He did have a point, they would have to find something different to do soon if they wanted Lincoln to keep getting stronger. Not to mention she herself was also benefiting from having a sparring partner and she didn't want to lose that. When they had first started, she was beating him quite easily. Now, he was getting closer and closer to actually getting a win against her forcing her to start trying.
But what could they do to make sure he kept going up and didn't hit the ceiling?
It wasn't like Lincoln wasn't doing any training on his own. He had learn some skills on his own from imagination and also taking a couple of things from several video games he enjoyed. He also said he was going to start trying to practice magic soon as well, apparently having found some old arcane books that belonged to one of his deceased family members in the attic.
'Honestly… he has a pretty broken ability.' Renee thought with a small smirk.
She meant it when she said the sky was the limit with Lincoln's ability, and that made her a bit scared for him. Once he started getting involved into the Abyss and word of what type of ability he had came out, there was a very big possibility that evil people would start coming after him for it, using any means necessary. He might even get a bounty put on him if he got into fights with the wrong people.
The thought of the boy she had feelings for being in danger honestly scared her. That's why she would make sure he was ready and would be able to protect himself.
'But still…' Her eyes opened, noticing Lincoln was also in thought. 'What can we do to accelerate his progress? C'mon Renee, you play games yourself. What are some things you can pull from them?'
The sound of Lincoln sighing pulled her from her thoughts as she saw him grow a wry smile. He placed a hand on his waist, rubbing the side of his head.
"Well, there's nothing we can come up with now." Lincoln grinned slightly. "Let's just head home and get some rest. We can think about it tonight and then talk about it at school tomorrow, that sound good?"
Renee stayed silent for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, it does. I'll try and come up with something Lincoln, I promise."
"Don't stress yourself out too much Renee." Lincoln said, walking up to her to place a hand on her shoulder, smiling at her. "I've asked a lot out of you lately and I know this hasn't been easy. This is still my problem when it comes down to it, so don't feel like you have to go far and beyond for me."
'I have too though Lincoln. You don't know what you're getting into and I don't want anything to happen to you.' Renee thought, before sighing and giving her friend a smile. "Alright… let's go home then. By the way, you mind taking an day off tomorrow? I have to start studying for the exams."
"Yeah that'd probably be a good idea. I haven't done a lot of studying either though I think thanks to my INT stat being up to fifteen right now. I should be good." Lincoln answered, a grin on his face. "This ability is pretty useful in that regard at least haha."
"...Beater."
Lincoln raised an eyebrow, as Renee turned around. "Excuse me?"
"Nothing, I'll see you tomorrow." Renee help up a hand to the sky, dispelling the barrier ignoring the look of confusion that was still on Lincoln's face.
In a lone retirement home, an large elderly man stared out of the window of his room as he sat comfortably in his chair. He ran a hand through his white hair as he let out a small yawn before chuckling.
'Heh, guess Sue and Rita may have a point after all. I do need to start slowing down at my age.' He thought with a wry smirk on his face. 'Not the spring chicken I used to be. Never thought I hear myself say that hehe."
It was true. Age was starting to catch up to elder. In his younger years, he was always on the go, constantly moving around, and rarely taking a break. It often made his late wife a bit exasperated but they loved each other nonetheless and wouldn't trade it for the world.
His daughter might have taken after him some however. Not many women can handle eleven children and not be active in some regard.
'Still wonder where they had the energy to have all those kids though.' The elder once again ran a hand through his hair as a small chuckle escaped his lips. 'I know Rita is a very attractive woman. She's her mother's child after all, but for crying out loud her and Lynn were like a pair of rabbits. Me and Chloe didn't even have that much energy in our younger years. I thought after I left Lincoln with them they'd calm down, but no. Two years later, they went and had Lucy.'
"Hey Albert!"
The elderly man perked up slightly at the call of his name and looked around to see another elder walk in the room with the help of his cane. A smile found it's way on his face as he stood up from his chair.
"How's it going Bernie? Had some trouble swimming again?" Albert asked, walking over to his long time friend to give him a friendly pat on the back.
Bernie laughed, giving the larger man a smile. "Haha, you know I'm not in my prime anymore. Can only do two laps around the pool before getting tired nowadays."
"That's still not bad for your age to be honest." Albert responded with a small grin, giving his friend a pat once more. "You still got it a bit Bernie. You always were a pretty good swimmer. Could have made it to the Olympics if you didn't join the army instead."
"What can I say? I loved swimming but had a bigger love for my country." Bernie had a small grin on his face as his mind wandered to even happier memories. "Met my wife thanks to that as well. Ole Sheila had a lot of spunk to her. Still miss her to this day."
Albert nodded, remincinsing in some of the memories of their late wives. "Yeah, it's the same with Chloe for me. Wasn't ready for her to leave this world, but her heart problems eventually got the better of her."
"She's in a better place Albert. Both of our wives are." Bernie said, trying to comfort his friend. "This world has honestly gotten crazy nowadays with all the violence and madness in it. I don't know if Sheila's heart could handle it to be honest. She was always a sweet and innocent thing."
Albert sighed, as he looked out the window of his room. "Yeah… you're probably right Bernie. It's just… I miss her. Rita does too, even though she's gotten better at dealing with the grief. She would have loved to have all these grandkids as well. She only got a chance to meet Lori before she passed."
Bernie nodded as he sat in one of the other chairs in the room, staring out of the window as well. "Well… all I can say is that we remember our wives. Keep the memories alive and well, especially for our children and grandchildren."
"...You're right." Albert agreed, turning his attention to the ceiling as the happier memories came back to him.
The first time he met his wife as she nursed him back to health from a battle with enemy forces. It was then and there he knew she was one.
Their first date at a fancy Italian restaurant. He went through hell to get the reservation but it was well worth it.
His marriage proposal and her accidently punching him out of shock before accepting it. She had a mean right hook if he'd say so himself. Lynn Jr might have taken after her in that regard if what Lincoln has told him holds any weight.
Rita's birth and the first time he held his daughter in his hands. Without a doubt, the happiest moment in his and Chloe's lives.
Their first meeting with Lynn and how nervous the young man was meeting the parents of his lover. Albert wouldn't stop glaring at him the entire time before Chloe eventually got him to let up and give the future son in law a chance. Though when Lynn had accidently revealed he had already slept with Rita, Albert ended up chasing him several blocks in the neighborhood on foot.
The phone call they received from Rita that revealed she was pregnant. Chloe had never looked so happy in her life and Albert was quite happy as well. Though the overprotective father side of him wanted to kill Lynn even though the two young adults were married.
Him and Chloe finally getting a chance to hold Lori when Rita and Lynn came to visit. He was a bit taken aback by the size of Lori's head, but he loved the baby nonetheless and swore to protect her.
The final "I love you" and kiss he shared with Chloe on her deathbed as she succumbed to her heart disease at the age of fifty five. He'll never forget the peaceful smile on her face as she comforted him and Rita despite knowing that her time had finally come and the promise she made with them to always be there for them in spirit. The former marine held his daughter close to him as she sobbed loudly while grieving himself. It had sadden him, but his love was finally free from the pain of her health issues and hopefully in a better place if there was such a thing called the afterlife.
Albert sighed as he relaxed deeper into his chair, before hearing ringing sound. Turning his head to the left, he noticed it was his landline phone.
"Who can be calling me right now?" Albert asked himself, standing up and walking over to it as he took a look at the Caller ID seeing it said "Rita Loud" with his daughter's household number there. He gave a small chuckle before turning to his friend. "Hey Bernie, can you give me a little privacy for a few moments? Rita's calling me."
Bernie gave a small wave as he stood up. "Don't worry about it Albert. Need to get around to finishing that puzzle I have anyway."
Albert laughed slightly as his friend left the room, before answering the phone with a small smile on his face. "Hey sweetie, how are you and the rest of the family doing?"
"Hey dad, I'm doing great and so is everyone else!" Rita's happy voice answered, as the old man can also imagine the smile on her face. "How about you? It's been a while since any of us had a chance to visit you. Sue's not giving you much of any trouble is she?"
Albert laughed. Leave it to his daughter to be protective of him. "No, no sweetie she isn't. She's been stopped treating us like we were babies for a while now since we stood up to her this past summer. When almost all of the seniors threaten to walk out on you with good reason and that puts the nursing home at risk, you learn to back off and treat them with some more respect I'm guessing."
"Hehe I guess so. Well if she does, you could still always go somewhere else. I've never really liked her after what Lincoln told me when I picked him up from there last time."
"Don't worry about it sweetie, it's going to be alright. I can handle Sue." Albert assured, pulling his chair close to the phone so he could sit down. "Still though, what's the real reason for you calling Rita? You usually call me on the weekends when you're off from work and have more time."
Rita remained silent on the other end for a small moment before finally finding her voice. "Dad… it's about Lincoln."
This caused the elder to grow slightly concern, especially from the seriousness in his daughter's tone. "Lincoln? Did something happen to him?"
"No, well yes. It's just…" Rita sighed before going silent, causing her father to laugh slightly.
Albert gained a small grin on his face. "Take it easy Rita. Deep breaths." He got a small grumble from his daughter instead which caused him to laugh a bit more. "Now, what's happening with Lincoln."
Rita took a deep breath. "Lincoln… Lincoln has been acting a bit strange lately. He's zoning out, seems to be staring intently at nothing most of the time, and even moving his finger strangely at times like he's pushing buttons or something."
"I see…" Albert responded, rubbing his chin. "And you're calling me about this why? It's strange behavior no doubt, but I'm not really a psychiatrist."
"Do you remember some time after you left Lincoln with us all those years ago? When you told him a bit more about him?" Albert remained silent, as he then heard his daughter continue. "I don't know much but… I think those abilites that you said he could possibly develop are well… developing."
The ex-marine's eyes narrowed as he stood up from his chair. "Are you sure Rita?"
"Y-Yes." The matriarch of the Loud household answered, sounding a bit taken aback from the sudden seriousness in her father's voice. "I don't know much about the Abyss or natural ability users like you do but considering what you told me all those years ago… I feel like he might be awakening his own natural ability."
Albert sighed, rubbing a hand across his forehead. 'Don't know why I'm acting so surprised or tired. I knew something like this was likely going to happen when he at least turned thirteen, considering that's that's the age when people can first develop them. Not to mention considering who his birth parents are, it shouldn't be a surprise that he's developing them at the earliest convenience.'
"Dad? Is everything alright?"
Rita's voice cut the man from his thoughts as he slightly turned to the phone. Thinking over his next words, he smiled slightly. "Y-Yeah, everything's all right Rita. Hey, why don't I come over tomorrow for dinner and stay the night? I'm pretty sure I can convince Sue to let me go for a least one day."
Rita remained silent for a quick moment before answering. "Sure. I'll have to make sure it's alright with Lynn but I'm pretty sure he'll have no problem with it."
"Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow sweetie." Albert said before adding another piece. "And don't worry too much about Lincoln. I'll make sure to explain things to him and keep him safe. Nothing will happen to him on my watch, alright?"
"Yeah… thanks dad. I… I just don't want anything to happen to my boy." Rita responded, sounding concerned.
Albert nodded, already thinking of the conversation he'd have with his lookalike. "Don't worry Rita, he'll be fine. Have a good night."
"Yeah. You too dad."
With that the call ended as Albert placed the phone back up. Sighing, he ran a hand through his greyish white hair as he stared out the window.
"I'm honestly getting too old for this." The former marine muttered, giving a small dry laugh. "Well… better go put in my request to Sue. Not looking forward to this at all…"
Rita sighed as she leaned back on the kitchen counter, her mind racing as she thought back on the conversation she just had with her father.
She knew when she decided to adopt Lincoln thirteen years ago that there was the chance of him developing his own natural ability, but she had hoped against all odds that he would grow up to be a normal boy. Even if he was the only one out of her's and Lynn's eleven children who didn't come from her own womb, she loved him all the same and wanted nothing bad to happen to him.
So why? Why did he have to develop an ability and possibly now be in danger of crazy people coming after him?
'It's not fair…' The mother of eleven thought as she rubbed her forehead. 'Why can't he just grow up a normal child like his sisters? Or well… at least as normal as this family gets.'
She was usually prepared for anything. Being a mother of such a big family, she had to be especially with daughters as eccentric as her's.
However, this was something she had no experience with. She knew little if anything about this type of world and these type of abilites. Lincoln was going to be experiencing something neither of his parents knew anything about and she hated it. It was her job to protect Lincoln and guide him and she didn't know of a way to do that right now. All she could do is pray and hope her father would be able to.
The front door opening caught her attention as she walked to the entrance to the kitchen to see her son and husband walking in together, talking to each other about their day. She also notice her son clothes being quite dirty and even having a few cuts here and there on them as well as his body.
Eventually the only two males of the household conversation ended as Lynn Sr ruffled his son's hair playfully getting a grin from him. Lincoln would run upstairs as the patriarch of the family walked towards the kitchen noticing his wife.
"Hey honey." The man greeted giving his spouse a kiss and small hug. He then notice the serious look on her face, causing him to grow concern. "Um… is everything alright Rita?"
Rita shook her head, a frown on her face as she grabbed her husband's hands. "Lynn… we need to talk. In private."
The man could only raise an eyebrow as his wife led him outside to the backyard.
Despite what most of the school believed about her, Ronnie Anne wasn't a heartless bully who only enjoyed tormenting others.
She did have feelings besides anger. She could be happy, sad, embarrassed, and even vulnerable.
She also could get jealous, a feeling she was real familiar with right now.
She and several of her friends were sitting at a lunch table, simply hanging out and eating their meals together as they talked about random things.
At least, that's how it usually would be.
A glare was on her face as she watched two of her closest friends Lincoln Loud and Renee Mason talk animatedly to one another about random things such as their classes, comic books, and other things that while she was familiar with she wasn't as knowledgeable as the two of them. Next to the latina, sat Clyde who was simply eating his food in peace.
'Since when these two get so close?' The tomboy thought bitterly, her hands curling into fists underneath the table.
She had to admit, she was getting jealous of how close Lincoln and Renee seem to be getting over the past week. They always seem to be hanging out with one another and often meeting up after school lately. While Ronnie Anne did consider Renee a close friend, she couldn't help but feel jealous.
Ronnie Anne couldn't lie to herself. She did have a crush on Lincoln Loud. It had started when they were younger, around eight years old and they first met. Well by first met, she saw him at the playground in the park playing with his sisters Lynn and Luan on the swings. When she first saw him, her heart fluttered as she took in his white hair and buck teeth thinking they were quite cute. So what did she do?
Throw dirt at him.
She thought it would scare him off and he'd probably start crying like many kids before him, but he actually did something that surprised her. He grabbed some dirt and threw it right back at her, nailing her in the face. The latina blinked before scooping it up and returning fire with a dirt throwing fight soon starting up before their eldest siblings broke them up. That was actually the first time Lori and Bobby met, though the future teenaged couple wouldn't end up getting together until much later.
The next day at school, she would end up finding out the boy's name and confronted him after school. To her surprise however, Lincoln was rather laid back around her despite what happen the day before. He didn't really hold any grudges, only asking why she did it to which the latina responded it was something she did to show that she ran the playground. The white haired boy simply gave her a deadpanned look before starting to laugh. Apparently the main reason he didn't hold a grudge is become he was already used to these sort of things with his sisters. He then walked away with a grin on his face winking as he told her that he held no hard feelings for a pretty cute girl.
The latina's face broke out into a massive blush when she heard that as the boy only laughed harder leaving to catch his ride home. From that point on, she began to watch the Loud boy from afar over the years, not knowing how to approach him before in fifth grade they were paired up for an assignment together to take care of an egg with the incentive that if they took care of it for a whole week without it breaking, they would be treated to a waffle breakfast. Ronnie Anne was nervous at first thinking due to her reputation as the school's tough girl he would be scared to leave the egg with her in fear of her breaking it.
However, Lincoln trusted her saying that he knew better than to judge a book by it's cover as his grandfather had taught him and that it was obvious that she wanted the waffle breakfast as much as anyone so she wouldn't mess it up. It touched the girl deeply to be honest, and together they did a outstanding job looking after the egg and the waffle breakfast was one to remember. The very next day, she approached Lincoln and his friends at their table during lunch asking if she could join them. Even though she didn't want to admit it she was a bit scared, afraid that her reputation as the school bully would cause them to shun her as it had done for many other kids her age. But as he has done before, Lincoln simply smiled before patting the seat right next to him as she joined the group and the white haired boy's friendship circle.
Ronnie Anne smiled at the memories before her frown returned as she still continued to watch Lincoln and Renee continue to converse with one another. She angrily stuck her fork into her meatloaf as she glared off to the side.
It wasn't as if she disliked Renee. When Lincoln had introduced her in their group, she was happy that she was no longer the only girl even more so when Renee showed she had a tomboyish side as well only difference between the two was that the brunette comic book fan was more in touch with her girly side.
Still, now she couldn't help but be jealous as it seemed over the past week that Lincoln and Renee had been getting closer. According to Lincoln, they've been meeting up after school to hang out lately and he wouldn't say too much more about the issue. It made the Santiago girl suspicious in all honesty and she was getting ready to ask them about the issue.
"Earth to Ronnie Anne!"
"Huh?!" the school tough girl perked up to see her friends giving her confused and slightly worried expressions. Lincoln even had an raised eyebrow on his face as he crossed his arms.
"You alright? I've been trying to get your attention for the past few minutes." Lincoln asked, with a small grin on his face.
Ronnie Anne blinked before a small blush appeared on her face and she averted her eyes. "Y-Yeah! Of course I am Lame-O! Just… just had some stuff on my mind."
"Did you want to talk about it maybe?" Renee came in, an concerned expression on her face. "You know we're here for you if you need us Ronnie Anne."
To Ronnie Anne's side, Clyde nodded. "Yeah, I learned a lot from Dr. Lopez on how to deal with problems like this. Heck if you want, I can schedule you an appointment with her."
"I'm fine guys! Really!" Ronnie Anne almost shouted, a blush on her face as she waved her hands. "Just… just some things going on right now! On another note, Lame-O. What have you and Renee been doing lately after school so much?"
Lincoln and Renee blinked before looking at each other and then back at their friend. Lincoln was the one who answered. "Just hanging out like normal. Nothing too strange or anything."
"Oh…" Ronnie Anne held a suspicious look on her face as she gazed at the two. "Then you won't mind if I join you two then. Three's a crowd right?"
"It'd… probably be best if you didn't." Renee interrupted, a sheepish smile on her face. "We're not really doing anything that interesting besides talking about comics, playing video games, and other 'nerdy' things. You'd probably get bored easily."
Ronnie Anne's already present frown deepened a bit more. "Hey, I'm into some of those things too you know. Besides, maybe I just want to hang out with my two best friends. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?"
Lincoln and Renee exchanged another glance, appearing a bit nervous before the school bell rang signaling the end of lunch. Lincoln laughed awkwardly as he stood up and grabbed his food tray.
"Heh, well would you look at the time!" The white haired Loud said, grinning nervously from what Ronnie Anne could tell. "Guess we better get to class, huh guys?!"
Renee nodded, grabbing her own tray with an equally as nervous grin on her face as well. "Yep! You are totally right Linc! We wouldn't want to be late."
With that, the big Ace Savvy fans left the table to dump off their trays and go to their next classes leaving their two other friends by themselves.
"Okay…" Clyde raised an eyebrow. "They're acting pretty strange."
Ronnie Anne glared at the two as she watched them head down the hallway. She didn't know what they were up to.
But she was definitely going to get to the bottom of it.
Lincoln gave a sigh as he grabbed his things from his locker, preparing to head out for the day. Ever since lunch, he could always feel Ronnie Anne's gaze upon him whenever they were in the same area. He knew she eventually would get suspicious, Ronnie Anne was pretty sharp. Still, it made things annoying as he knew this was something he really shouldn't confess to her.
It wasn't as if he liked lying to her. He never enjoyed lying to his friends or family, he was too nice of a person for that even though he admittingly could be selfish at times. However, Renee had told him this was for the best as they had to keep their personal lives from getting involved with the Abyss or there would be the possibility that people would come after those they cared about.
'What a pain…' The teen thought as he closed his locker…
Only to jump slightly as he saw two of his sisters, Lynn and Luan, standing there to the side with grins on their faces.
"Heeeeyyyy…" Luan started, a wide grin plastered on her face as she walked around to Lincoln's other side. "What's up Linc?"
"Nothing really, just getting ready to head out." Lincoln answered, placing his backpack on his back. "What's up with you guys? Did you need something?"
"Oh we don't need anything…" Lynn punched her brother in the arm slightly. "Just wanted to see how our favorite brother was doing and if he wanted to walk home with us."
Lincoln didn't flinch as he used to in the past, namely thanks to his VIT stat being higher being around fifteen along with his other stats being at least in the eights, but he did grimace a bit when Lynn said her piece. Lately, his sisters had been a bit… nosy. Well, more so than usual at least. He's noticed one or even two of them following him around at times, how they were constantly asking him how he was doing and what he was up to, and generally getting involved in his business as much as they could.
It was starting to get a bit annoying to be honest, especially since he had an idea as to why.
The white haired son of the Loud family gave a sigh. "Sorry girls, but I made plans today with a friend to study together."
Both Luan and Lynn frowned, looking at one another and then back at Lincoln. Luan threw her arms out in frustration. "Come on Linc! You've been going somewhere every day after school for the past week! Can't you just come home for once and spend some time with your sisters? Heck you can study with us even."
Lincoln chuckled sheepishly as he scratched his cheek. "Sorry girls but I promised my friend that I'd help them with history and science since they've been struggling in that."
"Then tell them they can come over to our house! We can even get Lisa to help tutor them." Lynn offered.
"If she's not too busy helping you…" Lincoln dodged a swing from an blushing Lynn, who had a death glare on her face. He grinned cheekily back. "I'm kidding but no thanks, I don't want to put too much on Lisa's plate and to be honest you guys shouldn't either. Sure she's a genius, but she's only four years old guys."
Luan and Lynn looked at each other, knowing that their brother had a point. As much of a prodigy Lisa was, she was still the second youngest of the family.
Still though, they couldn't fail in their goal here.
Lincoln scratched the back of his head, giving a small sigh before he noticed Renee waving at him from down the hallway. A small grin growing on his face he looked at his older sisters once more.
"Well, I need to head out." Lincoln said, giving a small apologetic smile towards them. "I'll see you guys later. Peace."
With that, the teen walked down the hall to join his friend as they left the building. Lynn and Luan stood there for a moment watching the two before they both sighed.
Lori was not going to be happy.
"So did you think of anything Lincoln?"
The sole Loud boy perked up from his thoughts at Renee's question as the two of them walked down the sidewalk towards the public library. They would have went to the school library but it was pretty packed and they wanted to do some talking about their training as well.
He really didn't want to deal with the possible chance of his sisters finding him there and meddling in his life again. He really should put his foot down one day.
A humming sound came out of Lincoln's mouth as he put a hand to his chin. "Hmm, well I thought of some methods you could use to grind in some RPGs I played before. Not a whole lot of them seem that effective to be honest."
"Yeah I did the same." Renee put her hands to her waist as she sighed. "This is harder than I thought."
Lincoln chuckled slightly. "It is, but there is one game that came to mind."
"Oh?" Renee started, raising an eyebrow as she stopped. "And what game is that?"
"You ever heard of this game series called Disgaea?" Lincoln asked, getting a head shake from Renee. "Well it's basically an over the top anime archetype strategy RPG that puts an emphasis on grinding. A crapton of grinding. I was thinking of maybe using my imagination to create some things from that game."
"Oh that sounds pretty cool, so what were you thinking about?"
"I was thinking ab-"
Lincoln suddenly stopped as he felt a surge of energy as he looked towards Renee to notice she felt the same thing. Soon, the rest of the people in the area started to disappear as they soon became the only two.
"An ID barrier." Renee muttered, pulling out her cards as she got into her normal stance. "Someone's after us."
Lincoln cursed under his breath as he summoned his makeshift spear from his menu. "Can't enjoy a normal day huh?"
"Hey, if you want to get involved with the Abyss then you better get used to this. People will jump you at anytime if given the chance." Renee answered, as her eyes scanned the area with Lincoln simply snorting as he did the same.
All was silent…
"AWOO!"
Both teenagers tensed as in front of them, a large white figure dropped down to the ground kicking up dust and asphalt. The dust cleared to reveal a large white wolf with large sharp teen and red eyes that shined with a hatred. It growled at the two teenagers before letting out a loud howl.
Lincoln took a look at the information on top of it's head before grimacing.
White Fenrir
Level 28
'This is not going to be an easy fight…' Lincoln thought with a frown. Considering he was level nine and Renee was level twenty, he had a point. They both were underleveled, him much more so and it didn't help that his only weapon was a melee weapon.
"Linc, get ready! Here it comes!"
The white haired teen snapped out of his thoughts as he noticed the wolf creature charging towards him and Renee with it's fangs bared. He grunted, rolling out of the way as Renee jumped in the air.
Lincoln grinned slightly as he stood up and took on a stance. "Guess it's time for a boss fight…!"
Things are starting to pick up...
Anyway, thanks for reading and sorry the chapter took longer than the past three. I recently started a new job and been also busy with school work and life so life's been a bit busy haha. I also see some of you guys still want an update on Gameindustri Saga as well, don't worry I haven't forgotten that fic just trying to make more progress on this one first.
As always, please review as the feedback is always nice to see and is helpful and I will see you all next chapter.
