Chapter 4

The tests didn't take long, for that JJ was grateful. She wasn't sure how much more she could handle. All the hands and things poking her, it was unsettling. Especially through the rape kit Doctor Mitchell demanded. JJ remembered the conversation vividly.

"I'm just going to run a quick rape kit." Doctor Mitchell said quickly while looking at her clip board.

"Okay, but I wasn't raped." JJ growled through gritted teeth.

"I sure hope not honey, but from your account of the story...it's just a precaution." Doctor Mitchell insisted.

JJ shook her head, her eyes swam, turning them to an icy blue.

Finally JJ looked back at Doctor Mitchell and nodded.

JJ shook the thoughts, her hands twiddled together while she anxiously awaited the test results. JJ looked over at the plain white door. It had no accents or marks, quite boring actually. But she could see the years of use starting to take their toll, it probably used to be whiter, the door handle less smudged, and probably more horrifying things had taken place in her room than what she was currently battling.

I just got a few scratches. JJ thought.

As she stared at the door she heard a subtle knocking, as if the person on the outside wasn't sure if they wanted to come in or not.

JJ couldn't blame them.

"Come in." JJ finally replied.

Morgan smiled lightly as the two met eyes, JJ smiled back.

"I think you should call Garcia, she's getting real antsy, she tracked your phone...it's not in Pennsylvania." Morgan paused. "Or broken." He mumbled.

"It's okay. You should call Garcia back...just tell the team I was in a car accident."

"Jayje-"

"What? It's true. Now call Penelope and stop arguing with me." JJ retorted.

"Hotchner."

"Hotch. It's Morgan."

"Morgan what the hell? We have been trying to reach you all morning."

"I'm sorry." Morgan sounded exhausted. "You guys need to get down to the hospital."

"What? Why...what's going on?" Hotch questioned.

"JJ was in a pretty rough car accident last night, we're at the one down main street."

"We'll be right there." Hotch replied quickly and hung up. He looked at his team, they had started briefing on the next case without JJ and Morgan since nobody could get a hold of either of them.

Hotch met eyes with everyone sitting around the table before he started to explain the interrupting phone call.

"That was Morgan. We need to get to the hospital. Now." Hotch said.

"What happened?" Reid asked hesitantly.

"JJ was in a car accident, Morgan made it sound pretty serious."

Nobody said anything as they all just filed into the two black SUV'S, only slight murmurs wondering if JJ was okay. Rossi and Hotch climbed into the first one, while Reid, Prentiss, and Garcia in the other. The drive was stressful as each of the over analyzing agents fought their brains from traveling to the worst conclusions.

Finally the SUV'S arrived. They parked and shot into the building that had seemed to cause so much stress and grief. Emily crossed her fingers and hoped for the best while Rossi prayed to a God he didn't believe in; Reid couldn't help but think of the statistics regarding hospitals. Garcia felt salty tears stinging her cheeks as they ran blindly. And Hotch thought of his broken family. He couldn't have two broken families.

"Hello. I am SSA Hotchner. I had an agent get checked in her this morning. Her name is Jennifer Jareau. We would like to see her." Hotch stated, his eyes challenged her authority.

"Oh yes, of course. Agent Morgan is in there right now. One more of you can visit right now. In her state, two visitors is the limit." The lady said, but by the look on Hotch's face she started to revise. "I'm sure we could make an exception though..."

"And what exactly is her state?" Rossi piped up,fearing the answer.

"I don't have any information with me, I do know Doctor Mitchell just ran some more tests." The nurse said as she shuffled through paper work, after finally giving up she looked back up to the group of agents. "You can see for yourself." The lady gestured with her hand down the hallway. "Room 102."

Emily began to bite her nails. She had always had a problem with it. Worry didn't sit well in her stomach and she didn't know how to deal with it. Not knowing was the worst part of the whole situation. She was getting sick of the waiting game. It just wasn't in her personality. Sure she compartmentalizes all of her feelings, but doing it without knowing what your feelings are, thats difficult.

Reid rubbed his hand over his eyes. He had always had a special part in his heart for JJ. They were the youngest on the team and very close. She was like a sister to him. Was she hurt badly? What happened? Reid for the first time didn't have an answer to these questions. It brought extreme discomfort and lack of confidence. He was so conflicted. Please be okay Jayje. Please.

Garica couldn't stop the tears. She couldn't stand the rest of the team with their stone faces; and no emotions. Garcia was a woman for God sake. She was gonna cry and be proud of it, especially when someone she loved was hurting. She sas gonna get emotional, it was inevitable. She fought a new wave of tears. Oh if only Kevin was here. Or my hunk of dark chocolate. Garcia thought.

Rossi stared straight ahead unmoving. His thoughts were blank. He didn't know what to think. He didn't know what was going on. He didn't know how bad it was. He didn't know anything. It was driving him nearly insane. How much longer will I have to wait out here?

Morgan looked up from JJ as he heard a knock on the door, then it slightly creak open. Emily peeked her head in first.

"Can we come in?"

Morgan looked at JJ and JJ nodded.

Emily opened the door and alowed the rest of the team to file in the room. Emily's eyes shifted from Morgans exhausted face to JJ's exhausted body. JJ stiffened at the sudden presence of her entire team.

"JJ." Hotch sighed. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine." JJ assured.

"What happened?" Garcia asked.

JJ quickly looked at Morgan. "I- uh, I was in a car accident."

"Yeah, but like how? Did someone hit you?" Emily questioned.

"I lost control of the steering wheel and hit a stop light." JJ replied.

"Oh my God, honey." Garcia said and reached over to grab JJ's hand. JJ smiled back in gratitude.

"Thank you...everyone. But I'm really okay, just a little banged up." JJ couldn't help but cringe at the poor choice of words.

Stop that, you don't know anything. JJ immediately thought.

Before anyone could say anything else, Doctor Mitchell opened the door. Her eyes opened in shock.

"Oh, hello everyone. Could I have a moment alone with JJ?"

The team nodded and just as they had come in a few moments before, they started to trail out the same way.

Once everyone was gone and the door was shut, Doctor Mitchell looked at JJ with a solemn smile. "How are you doing? Feeling okay? Any adjustments to the pain killers?"

"No, I'm okay."

Doctor Mitchell nodded and looked down at her clipboard then back at JJ.

"I got some results from your tests back." Doctor Mitchell paused. "Your rape kit...came back positive."

JJ's breath caught. "Oh my God."

"I'm so sorry honey. But you're not alone in this, there's a world of support and things you can do. I can give you references, and your team out there...you'll be okay."

"References." JJ mumbled, her head was down, but her eyes contorted in confusion.

"The good news is that you don't have any STD's, of course you will have regular Doctor check-ups, to keep making sure."

"That's the good news? Oh my God." JJ mumbled again.

"I'll leave you alone." Doctor Mitchell finally said and left the room.

JJ tried to control her emotions as she realized everyone would be coming back in, they would ask questions if she was upset.

Surprisingly enough, only Morgan entered her room before closing the door behind him. He rushed to her side and again, wrapped his arm around her petite and shaking frame. JJ looked over at him and let the first tear slip.

"Hey, what happened?" Morgan gently asked.

"She-she said that..." JJ paused as the tears started to trickle more freely. "My rape kit came back positive."
