Hey guys and girls here's the next chapter. Hope you enjoy.
Chapter four. The surprise guest.
Work was done for me. I had just finished my fourth day here. I was working late tonight though. I pack my work clothes into my bag. I punch my card out and leave through the back way to throw something away. I stop when I hear something. Is that snoring? I look around and see no one but I did see a few boxes stack up together. I walk to the boxes and look over them. "Molly?!" I shout surprised.
She rubs her eyes a little before bolting up realizing someone had found her back here. "It's not what it looks like." She says then relaxing a little when she saw me. Her expression went from being scared to surprised and a little worried though she tried to cover it with a scowl.
"Really cause it looks like you've been living back here. Don't you live with your parents?" I ask looking at the rocketbike a little ways back.
"No. I came here to find them but….. It just didn't happen, okay?" She says looking down. "You going to tell your boss that you found me back here."
That question surprised me a little. I don't know why it did but it did. "No, not this time. Look why don't you come with me. My house is a little ways from here. I usually take the buses. I'm sure my mom wouldn't mind the company anyways."
"You live with your mom?" She ask looking at me a bit credulously.
"Yeah." I start to nervously scratch the back of my head. "I just passed my last requirement for military school for the term till next year. Why is something wrong with that?" I ask as I stop scratching the back of my head and look at her.
"Nope nothing at all. Though my rocket seat will be faster than the buses. Here, hop on." She says handing me some goggles. I stare at them then her blinking, before putting them on and getting on the rocket seat. "So how do we get there?" She ask revving up the engine and taking off. I grab onto her waist so I wouldn't be launched off.
I scream over the wind. "You're about to hit the gate!" She smirks and turns sideways tipping the seat over almost completely on its side. She sets her foot on the ground and it skids against it as we slide under the small board that was in our way. She propels the rocket back up with her foot and takes off down the street. "What were you thinking?! That was crazy."
She looks back at me. "Where's your sense of adventure? We made it without falling off or wrecking, didn't we?" I had stop listening though and was off somewhere else. A street that appeared made of rock with water and vegetation floating in it and little round houses made from white stone. We sped down it. I was wearing the goggles Molly had given me. "I'm not sure if I'm up for a long ride Molly. Besides these fields all look the same to me." "Jordan you really have no sense of adventure. Hold on." I blink and slowly scene disappears and is replaced from the view of the the girl who was driving now the empty street of that who was speeding down a busy one.
The cars honk at us as Molly cuts some off taking the turn then hopping onto the sidewalk. I realized we were at the park. "Dan."
"Huh?"
"Jordan. Man you were really out of it weren't you?"
"Oh sorry."
"Which way do we go? I saw you at this park so I headed here first since you wouldn't answer."
I look around. "Oh well you can cut through the park then I tell you where to go from there. It'll take about thirty minutes to get there though."
"Thirty minutes? We'll see." She says like it was a challenge.
She reeves the engine once more before speeding through the park. "Whoa." I say almost falling off. I grab back onto her waist as she gets onto the road.
"Which way?"
"Oh, left then head straight till you see a fork in the rode then take a right."
She follows my instruction and we were at the fork in ten minutes. "Whoa you managed to get through that traffic pretty fast." She smiles and takes the right path.
"Okay now keep going down here. I'll tell you when we reach my house."
After about ten minutes we reach my pale brown house. The paint was wearing down and it was pretty old. "Here we are." I say and point to it. She pulls up to the house. "Come on in and meet my mom. I think she'll like you."
She gets off the rocket and pull it along. "Where can I put this?"
"In the back I guess. Here I'll put it up." I say and take the rocket from her. She follows me as I put it in the back yard against the house. I unlock the back down and walk in. "Mom, I'm home. I brought a guest with me." I shout as I take off the goggles and give them back.
She walks down the stairs. "Which friend is it Jordan?"
"A girl I met at work. She's an engineer. She works on the star racers." I say and walk over to her as Molly follows. "This is Molly."
"Oh I see. You brought a girl home. Nice to meet you dear." Mom says and shakes her hand.
"Look she's in a tight spot right now. She came looking for her family but hasn't had much luck. Can she stay here for a couple of days?" I ask nervously blushing slightly. Mom just nods looking at her up and down.
"How old are you dear?"
"Fifthteen."
"And you're already working on those big star racers?" Molly nods. "Sure you can stay for awhile but pull your own keep and that means keeping your room clean."
"Molly right?" Molly nods. "Follow me. I think I have some clothes you can where." Mom smiles as Molly stares at her surprised. "Come on now. Don't just stand there." Molly nods and follows.
I walk into the kitchen and make myself a sandwich. It was really late. I heard footsteps and look up to see them coming from down the stairs. I blink looking at Molly who was in green and brown camouflage pajamas. "Hope you don't mind if they're a bit big. They use to be mind." Mom explains as they walk into the kitchen.
"It's no problem. Thank you though."
"Oh and Jordan can show you to the guestroom. Isn't that right Jordan?"
"Oh. Yeah, sure." I say looking away from Molly to mom. "This way." I say stuffing my hands into my pockets and lead her back up the stairs and down the hall to the second room on the right. "The bathroom is right across the hall and there's another one downstairs too in case you need anything. If you have any more questions you can ask me. I'm in the room on the left closet to the stairs."
"Yeah I'll be sure to do that. Goodnight Jordan."
"Oh, yeah. Goodnight, Molly."
Hope you enjoyed till later and again I don't own any of the characters or the show.
