John and Sarah could be described as an... eclectic couple. They were so mismatched that they were seen by the Coven Counsel as an oddity. An oddity that shouldn't have existed as long as it had. The Vena Coven that Sarah Gorgoi belonged to was a strict one. Born into the coven in a time were coven rivalry was at its peak in vampire history, Sarah Gorgoi was given one rule as a child.
She thought nothing of this rule then. What child truly dreamed of marriage when they knew it was to be arranged. Marriage for love was a rare occurance in her society, as it was done within the coven to avoid family crossing and tensions. Here is were the rule shined through. "Never marry outside of your coven". Ten years after fully becoming that feared creature "of the night", Sarah Gorgoi shattered that rule.
Not only did she love and marry a man outside of her coven, she married John Utonium. The son of "The Ancient". A being neither vampire nor human. Belonging to no coven, John was feared for the blood that ran through him. Powerful and untamed, John could not be controlled by one coven alone. The Vena Coven now had a responsibly that they never wanted.
Sarah loves to reminisce the moment she met the wild card that was John. John loved to recall the night she accepted him, three hundred years ago.
Sarah was a simple young woman. Never caring about going above and beyond to impress others. This thought rang through her mind as she sat in her coven's gardens. She was to met a potential suitor, and deep inside she knew she should be grateful. Many other young women and men were not given "options". They never got to choose from a set of suitors. Despite this, Sarah still felt...cold. She was adamant about Coven reform on this particular subject, as she refused the fact that her own children would be subjected to it as well later in life.
Her unruly red hair rippled defiantly through the air as a sharp torrent of winds past her. It was refreshing as she breathed. Settling down her nerves was a hard thing to do. Sarah would be the first to admit that weakness. She would never deny the erratic thumping of her heart or buzzing in her head.
She had to get out of here. She felt her freedom slowly ticking away each additional minute that she waited for this unknown man. If he truly wanted to marry her, then he could at least be on time for their introductions! Having a lady waiting an extra fourty-seven minutes was just rude.
Slowly, she scanned the area of the gardens and rose to leave when she found herself completely alone. A short excursion into the market would do her some good. A new book and some fabric for a new dress would be great too. Quickly and quietly she left the property through the guarded back gates. Stealthy, she avoided the burly guards that chatted idly between themselves.
She was gone in an instant, letting the wind carry her strides and give her sprint a not so subtle kick.
Her bright green eyes twinkled with mirth, as she giggled in relief. The thumping in her chest was gone, and the buzzing ceased. She was free of the rest of the day. Reaching the market in what she considered record time, she let her eyes ghost over the mostly human crowd.
"Best apples in These parts miss! Give'm a taste and your sure to fall in love with'm!" An old merchant yelled to her. Graying and hunched but very much confident and cockey, he held out an apple slice and she took it gingerly. It was slightly tart, and less sweet that she expected. It was good, but it wasn't the best.
Before she could open her mouth to give the merchant her opinion, a loud crash could be heard. I sickening crunch soon followed it.
"Oi! That raven fella's probably stirring up trouble again! How many times do they have to throw'm in jail for that bugger to learn. I would knock some sense into'm but I treasure my life!" The old merchant yelled. It came out in an annoyed tone, but amusement was clearly written on his face.
Sarah was...curious. As she pushed herself through the crowd, she couldnt help but wonder. Who is this man? Why was he such a-. The thought died as she got a good look at the young man. Love at first sight. Man,it's a killer.
Tall and slim, Sarah could see the definition of his muscles through the form fitting dress shirt he wore. "One size too small" she thought. Once white, it was a bright red and dark brown that showcased the dirt of the street and the blood of the guy he was bashing in. The slightly older looking man was huge. Bulky and towering over the raven haired man, he hunched a little. One eye swollen shut and the other bloodshot as he held his side. Sarah could see that the burly man had much damage. She wouldn't be surprised if the man's ribs were broken.
A loud laugh filled the air as the dark haired man threw his head back. Giddy and and amused, the man had obviously won the fight. Not a blemish adorned his skin, and Sarah figured he was holding back the whole time. It was scary, yes. But for some reason, it didn't bother her.
The ravenette grabbed the larger man by his torn and bloodstained shirt and raised him to meet cold blue eyes "Now you know! Never call John Utonium your tramp!" He bellowed. It shook the air as it reached Sarah's ears. John Utonium, the Untouchable. John Utonium, the untamable. Of course she would develop feelings for a man she could not possibly have.
Grinning and twitching, John unceremoniously dropped the burly man to the ground. A resounding thump echoed through the quiet market. Looking around, John made a move to bolt. Before making his exit, those now thawed blue eyes met awed green ones. Ones that were not scared, eyes that looked at him carefully and timidly. Sarah looked away with a red face, and John began the chase. "I've got to have her!" His mind flooding with ways to sweep her of her feet. Later he would learn that he had her ensnared the most she got a good look at him.
Long story short, Sarah married the controversial man in an open field. Family, coven members, friends, and even John Utonium's father came to the union. Cheerful and grateful she married the love of her life. She knew John would make her happy, and vice versa. What the young couple didn't know in that moment was that, their children would have to take Sarah's place. Marry a suitor they knew nothing about in an arranged marriage.
John Gorgoi-Utonium was livid! Why would the coven do this?! His girls would love who they wanted, a he couldn't give two craps about what the coven thought. If not, Sarah and John agreed, that the least they could do was make the girls forget. Forget their unfair responsibility to the coven, and live normally. Freedom was something Sarah and John lived for.
The girl's questions were now answered as they looked at their parents in understanding. They worked to convince their parents, more so their mother, that it they held not contempt for her.
Slowly, Blossom looked over at her fiance, rules were rules. Unlike her parents, she was hesitant to break them.
