Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates but as some of you know I have too many ongoing stories out (it's my own fault) so I've decided to finish them one by one instead of updating then not updating again for weeks. Hope you can remember what's going on in this…I had to read back. I am changing it from each person's POV to third person I was getting too mixed up, hope you enjoy this one, JJ.
The next morning Charlie opened her eyes and frowned as Jack's spare room came into focus, remembering what happened she shot up "fuck!" she hissed as pain shot through her.
Brax opened his eyes and sat up "take it easy Charlie," he said sleepily.
Charlie sighed forgetting he was there "I don't care that I'm on sick leave I'm going to work, he's not getting away with this," she said and scooted off the bed "I'll find him if it's the last thing I do."
"You know there's no way Pete or Jack are gonna let you anywhere near this or the station," Brax said and followed her out of the room.
"They have no choice I'm doing it," she said and walked to the kitchen for her stuff "I am sick looking over my shoulder waiting for something else to happen, well no more, it ends now," she said and made her way to the front door "after what he did to us all those years ago it ends I've had enough he's not ruining my life any more than he already has," she said and pulled the door open.
"What did he do?" Brax called after her.
Charlie froze in the doorway that she wasn't supposed to say out loud, but then again if he did know he'd understand how much she had to get him and he'd leave her be "he killed my mum, broke Jack's nose, kidnapped Jo and put Pete in a coma for six months," she said and walked out the door deciding that was enough for now.
Brax stood watching her go he could not believe what she had just said-her dad did all this…and he thought his dad was bad. Shaking his head clear he ran after her "if he did all that don't you think you should let your brothers handle it?"
"Why?" she hissed "because I'm a girl? Because I can't handle myself?" she asked.
"I never said that Charlie," he said and pinched the bridge of his nose "the guy stabbed you you're injured, what are you gonna do if you go looking and he appears while you're alone…you can't fight back."
Charlie shook her head "are you gonna bring me to the station or do I have to walk?"
Brax sighed he knew there was no reasoning with her…but her brothers were at the station, they'd be better at this than him "fine, hop in," he said unlocking his car.
"Thank you," she said and climbed in.
…..
When they arrived at the station Brax pulled up at the door and turned to her "do you want me to hang around?" he asked as she pulled off her belt.
"No thanks," she said and opened the door "I'll be here all day…thanks for last night," she said and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. "I'm sorry you're caught up in all this…I'll call you later," she said and climbed out.
Brax watched her go and sighed what a way to start a new relationship…if you'd call it that. Starting up his car again and waited until she was inside before pulling away.
Charlie walked inside and straight to her office "anything new?" she asked as soon as she saw Jack at her computer.
Jack looked up not at all surprised to see her "no," he said slowly "and if there was you'd be the last person I'd be telling," he said and looked back at the screen.
Charlie narrowed her eyes and sat across from him "I'm still your boss you know."
"Yeah but you know personal connection means you can't be on it, or know anything about it until the case is closed...neither should Me and Pete," Jack replied.
Charlie scoffed "he's the only detective in the town and you're acting sergeant so if I can't be on it you have to be…stop being a moron and tell me what you know."
Jack sighed he knew she wouldn't stop until she got what she wanted "fine, we lifted prints -but don't get too excited, they could be yours mine or anyone that comes to your house."
Charlie sighed and stood up "I know that just let me know when the results come in…where's Pete?" she asked noticing he wasn't at his desk.
Jack shrugged "he left a while ago just saying he'd be back later and left-I didn't ask."
Charlie nodded "I called the girls on the way over Rubes took Jo to school, I've already sent a car to stay on them."
"I know," Jack nodded "the cars I already had on them called me saying another two had pulled up so I sent my watch home for the day…they were on the house all night so it's only fair."
Charlie nodded and walked to Peter's desk to see had he left anything out relating to her house "who's Jack Barton?" she asked reading a name with an arrow pointing to Thomas's name.
Jack stood up and hurried to the desk "I'm not telling you any more Charlie," he said and picked it all up. "Stop asking questions you're doing my head in already and you've only been here five minutes-I don't know anything else, and like I already said I won't be telling you if I did. Let me and Pete handle it you stay away from this."
"Fine," Charlie snapped and walked to the door "if you won't tell me anything I'll go find Pete," she said and walked out the door.
Peter sat on a bench up on the beach path with a coffee in one hand and a file in the other. He looked up when someone sat beside him "alright," he said tiredly.
"Peter," Brax replied and nodded to the file "that Charlie's case?" he asked.
"Yeah," he said looking down at it "I knew it was only a matter of time before she turned up at the station demanding to know what was going on, so I told everyone not to leave anything in the station and to call me first…it's the results from the prints we collected."
Brax chuckled "she threw a fit at Jack's so I dropped her off at the station an hour ago."
Peter chuckled "I know my sister so well, Jack called that's why I'm sitting here-she's looking for me."
"Did you get anything?" Brax asked nodding to the file again.
Peter nodded and looked down at it again "one was Ruby's and another was our dads….it confirms he was inside her house."
Brax nodded taking it in for a moment "she uh…" he trailed off not sure whether to bring it up or not "she told me a few things he'd done to the family."
Peter stiffened at the mention of it and was really surprised she had told him, it had taken her years to tell Bianca and Leah anything. The only one's that did know were Hayley and Natalie because they'd been around since childhood "what did she tell you?" he asked curiously.
"Not much," Brax said watching him clench and unclench his fists "she just told me he'd killed your mum and kidnapped Jo…and something about breaking Jack's nose and you being in a coma-she didn't go into detail," he added when Peter turned to face him.
Peter nodded and turned to look ahead of him "he left a few months before mum died and trust me we were better off he was a dog. After she died-the next night actually he took Jo from her bed and disappeared." He sighed as he relived it "Jack heard her crying and went to check on her…there he was halfway out the window with her."
"That's when he broke Jack's nose?" Brax asked.
Peter nodded "Jack tried to stop him and pulled a hammer from his pocket, he was lucky it wasn't a harder hit."
"And you?" Brax asked "what happened to you?"
Peter sighed and stood up "I was protecting my sister, that's all you need to know" he said and looked down on him "I don't know what's going on between you and Charlie and right now I couldn't care less, just keep in mind she's been through enough, what's happening now is not her….she's gonna go completely crazy-I've seen it before."
Brax nodded "I'm not running."
Peter started to walk backwards "good," he said and turned around "she's gonna need all of us watching her back and keeping her on track!" he called as he walked away.
….
Peter arrived back at the station and hadn't even made it to his office when Charlie's voice filled his ears.
"I've been calling you!" she yelled and stalked to him "you've been gone for hours now!"
"Because I knew you'd be here," he replied and walked into his office.
Charlie scoffed and followed him "stop treating me like a kid Pete! Tell me what the hell is going on!" she yelled slamming her fists down on the table "I have a right to know I have to kids to protect!"
"No actually you don't!" Peter yelled and slammed his fists down "you don't have a right to know until the case is closed-you know that. You can yell at me all you want I am not telling you anything and you'll stay away from this and focus on the girls!" he yelled.
"Come on Pete!" she shrieked.
"No!" he yelled cutting her off "I am serious here Charlie! You'll stay the hell away from this! You will not ask other officers questions about it! You will not come snooping in my files and you sure as hell won't go looking for him do you understand me?"
Charlie gritted her teeth "I am not twelve do not tell me what to do!" she hissed.
"I am not telling you what to do I'm making sure you're safe there's a difference, now get in your car and go to mine or Jack's," he said and looked down at his file.
Charlie rolled her eyes "I have no car and you know I'll be fine…I wanna help Pete," she said in a calmer tone.
Peter sighed and looked up at her "Charlie you're not listening to me, I don't want you anywhere near this, be it looking up something on the net or stopping a car that looks like his I do not want you doing it alright?"
"Why?" she huffed.
"BECAUSE IF I HADN'T THROWN MYSELF IN HIS WAY THAT NIGHT YOU'D BE DEAD!" he yelled all over the place. Sighing he sat back down "Charlie," he said in a lower tone "you're my sister I have to protect you-I don't care what line of work you're in or what rank you hold you're still my sister and I have to look after you. He is an evil evil man that has slipped through every trap we've set for him, he's good he knows what he's doing, we have to be extra careful on this and I can't if I'm worrying about you-Jack is being pulled too once he's done the paperwork I asked him to do, I don't want either of you having anything to do with this."
Charlie knew where he was coming from but she still wanted to help get him. Knowing she'd never get anything out of him she sighed and sat on the side of the desk "will you drop me to yours then-or get someone else to?"
Peter nodded "give me a few minutes and I'll drop you over," he said and went back to his file.
Later that day Charlie lay on Peter's sofa with Jo tucked up against her, looking out the window she could see the cruiser parked up-it had arrived as soon as Peter had pulled up and followed her when she went to collect Jo.
She jumped slightly when her phone vibrated in her pocket, pulling it out she opened the message and smiled how you feeling now? Called to the station Pete said you weren't there anymore. Replying she threw the phone down and smiled at Jo as she giggled at the stupid cartoon that was on "you fee like going out for a walk when Ruby get's in?" she asked "we could go the diner for a milkshake."
Jo's eyes lit up "see Leah?" she asked.
"Yeah," Charlie chuckled "and get a milkshake too."
"Family day!" Jo yelled "can we call Casey too?" she asked.
Charlie chuckled too she had grown really close to Casey "sure, I'll get Ruby to call him when she gets in," she said an idea forming in her head.
Half an hour later the three of them walked into the diner "Charlie!" Leah called and hurried to her "Jack filled me in on what happened, why didn't you call me?"
She looked down at Jo who was looking up at her frowning "why don't you and Rubes go pick out what you want and I'll be there in a second."
"Cake!" Jo yelled and dragged Ruby with her.
Charlie waited until they were gone and turned back to Leah "Jo doesn't know a thing," she said and leaned against the counter "I haven't called anyone, I've been at the station."
Leah nodded not surprised by that "well if there's anything I can do just let me know."
"Actually," she said slowly "I might need someone to take Jo for the night-I'm not sure yet though."
Lean nodded "sure, VJ would love to see her…just let me know and I can pick her up," she said and walked by her.
Charlie walked to the back and sat down watching Jo and Ruby at the counter, as a shadow crossed her she looked up and smiled "hey."
"Hey," Brax said and sat across from her "got your message," he added.
Charlie nodded "I need a night out, figured you could take me out on that date…if you still wanted to."
"Of course I do," Brax chuckled "but do you really wanna go tonight?"
"Well yeah," Charlie replied "I'm not allowed at the station and I have no home to go to soo," she drawled and looked over at him.
Brax smiled and looked back as Jo laughed "and what are you going to do with them?"
"Leah said Jo could stay with her and Ruby already asked me could she stay with April," Charlie replied.
Brax nodded and stood up "I'll meet you at Jack's at seven…later!" he called and walked out the door.
…
At seven Charlie walked into Jack's kitchen and tugged at the dress Hayley had leant her "this is too damn short," she groaned.
Jack looked up from his laptop "I'm sure Brax won't mind," he chuckled.
Charlie rolled her eyes "why do all blokes think the same?" she muttered as she checked her bag for everything.
"Because we're men," Jack replied and walked to the fridge "where are you two going?" he asked as he grabbed himself another beer.
"Angelo's," Charlie replied "Brax has just signed a deal with Angelo so he wanted to go there."
Jack nodded "so he owns it now?" he asked.
"Yeah," Charlie replied "well in a few weeks when the paperwork goes through, but he said Angelo invited him to work there until it does so he's used to the place."
Jack nodded again "doing well for himself already," he said and looked at the door as the buzzer went "and he's on time too," he chuckled and walked to it.
"Shoes," Charlie said looking down at her bare feet and ran back into the room. When she arrived back Brax was standing in the kitchen with Jack "hey," she smiled.
"Hey," he smile back and looked her up and down "you look beautiful."
"And that's my cue," Jack said and pushed himself off the counter "bit of advice mate," he said as he walked to the kitchen door "she doesn't like girly stuff, you should have used hot instead of beautiful!" he called as he walked down to the living room.
"Jack!" Charlie yelled and shook her head as she heard him laugh "sorry," she said and looked at Brax.
"It's okay," he chuckled and pushed himself off the counter "do you want to head now?" he asked.
Charlie nodded "sure, just let me grab my phone…I think I left it on charge," she said trying to remember "back in a sec," she said and walked back to her room.
She walked back to him "ready," she said and walked to the door "we're off!" she called.
"Have fun!" Jack called "and have her home at a decent hour Brax!"
"Jack shut up!" she hissed and closed the door "sorry, he and Pete are the same," she said as they walked to his car.
Brax chuckled and opened her door for her "I know, me and Heath do it to Casey."
"Must be the youngest sibling that gets it so coz I've never heard either of them when it was them," Charlie replied as he climbed in beside her.
Brax chuckled again "nah, I'd say Jack has gotten it from Pete too, I did it to Heath enough times."
Charlie giggled "I'll never understand brothers."
Brax pulled away and glanced at her "you sure you're okay with Angelo's coz we can head into town if you like."
Charlie smiled and looked over at him "Angelo's will be just fine," she said and looked back out the window ready to let her hair down.
When they arrived at Angelo's they climbed out and walked inside "where do you want to sit?" Brax asked.
"Outside," Charlie replied "it's a nice evening."
"Outside it is…are you okay to drink or do you just want water?" he asked.
"Wine please," Charlie smiled "I'm allowed one or two," she added when he raised an eyebrow.
"Alright," he chuckled and walked to the bar.
When he arrived back he sat down beside her and slid a glass to her "Angelo said he'd send someone out in a minute."
Charlie nodded and picked up her glass "thanks," she smiled. "So, Brax, tell me something about you…what made you start coming here?" she asked.
"I heard the police Sergeant here was hot," he chuckled when she slapped him on the chest "nah, I wanted something better for me and my brothers but the boys followed us too."
Charlie nodded "I got talking to Sam one night he told me you all stuck together because you had lame parents as he put it…what does he mean by that?"
Brax blew out a breath this wasn't something he wanted to be talking about on a first date, but then again, things were already different than the normal start of a relationship. "He means our parents were either too drunk too high or just didn't care enough to look after us…we stuck together and helped each other out…family is the most important thing to me."
"And what line do your parents fall under?" she asked curiously.
Brax eyed her for a moment "you just trying to get info out of me?" he asked.
Charlie leaned over the table after much thought and kissed him "no," she said as she pulled back "just want to know more about you."
"I don't trust easy and that didn't convince me either," he said with a smirk.
"Oh it didn't did it?" she asked leaning closer to him "what can I do to earn your trust?"
Brax moved closer to her and kissed her slowly, sliding his hand around her waist he pulled her that little bit closer and deepened it. "Now that was convincing," he chuckled.
Charlie giggled and took a sip of her wine "you're lucky you're a good kisser I don't kiss just anyone on a first date."
"Good to know," Brax replied "and to answer your question my mum was a drinker and a gambler. Dad was a dog, used his fists on me all the time, so I took the boys and left-haven't looked back since."
Charlie was shocked to hear all this "and your mum didn't come looking for you?"
Brax shrugged like it wasn't a big deal "I took care of us since I was twelve we didn't need them…she appeared from time to time-still does she lives with us as you know, but she hasn't changed."
Charlie had never been so grateful for someone interrupting her conversation she didn't know what to say, so instead she sent him a quick smile as the waiter asked for their order.
…
After dinner had been eaten they moved to the bar for a few drinks. "Dinner was great thank you," she smiled.
"Next time we'll go somewhere nicer," he chuckled.
"So there will be a next time?" she asked with a smirk.
Brax chuckled "you tell me?" he asked leaning closer to her "am I worth a second date?"
Charlie sipped her wine and looked back at him "Mmh, I'll have to think about that," she giggled and stood up "bathroom," she said and walked by him-swaying her hips just a little more knowing he was watching.
Brax groaned and turned back in his seat "woman will be the death of me," he muttered. He looked up when Angelo chuckled "what?" he asked.
"Charlie," he said nodding after her "she knows how to play."
Brax's eyes went wide for a moment "you two dated?" he asked.
Angelo nodded "almost three years…we're just friends now, that happened a few years ago. Treat her right Brax she's such an amazing person," he said and walked to the other end of the bar.
Brax sat taking this all in when Charlie arrived back and sat beside him "do you want to head and go for a walk on the beach after this?" she asked.
Brax nodded and drained his beer "sure…I gotta hit the bathroom before we go," he said and stood up.
When he arrived back he held out his hand and smiled when she took it "do you want to walk up to the pier and hang out for a bit?" he asked as the walked outside.
Charlie nodded and moved closer to him as he slung his arm around her shoulder "I'm not in a hurry home, you?" she asked.
Brax swung her to face him "not if I get to spend more time with you," he said and took a step closer to her "Id stay out all night if you wanted me to."
Charlie pecked him quickly "or we could just go to your place," she said and walked ahead of him.
Brax chuckled and caught up wit her "so what about you?" he asked "you tell me something."
Charlie stared at him for a moment before she sat down and dangled her feet over the pier "you know stuff about me."
Brax sat beside her "I know your dad is a dog just like mine."
"Alright," she sighed "my dad went missing a few years back and I'd never been happier, he was-still is an animal ."
"Charlie I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me all this," Brax said and scooted closer to her.
Charlie sighed "it's not a good topic," she said and looked down at the water that was enough for now.
After they sat in uncomfortable silence for a while Charlie sighed "I'm sorry for making this awkward."
"You didn't," he replied "I'm just thinking," he said and stood up "time to get you home it's getting late."
Charlie glanced at her watch "it's just after nine," she said and stood up.
"Well what do you suggest we do?" he asked as they started to walk.
"We could go to Jack's and watch a movie but he's there," she replied.
Brax nodded "we could go to mine but I don't know who's there."
Charlie shrugged "I don't mind if you don't."
"Alright," Brax said and slid his hand into hers "don't say I didn't warn you."
"I think I'll be okay," she chuckled as they walked back to his car.
When they arrived at Brax's he turned off the engine "place is in darkness so that's a good sign," he said as they climbed out.
"Now that you mention it, Ruby told me she and Casey were at April's watching a movie with her and Dex," Charlie said as they walked up the drive.
Brax chuckled and unlocked the door "and Heath's not here either… has every light on in the house when he is," he said and let them in.
Charlie walked to the sofa and dropped onto it, she turned her head and smiled when Brax dropped down beside her "what movie?" he asked.
"Don't care," she replied and leaned in to kiss him.
As the kiss deepened Brax moved and lay her back and settled himself on her. He pulled back after a minute "we gotta stop," he panted and climbed off her.
"Why?" Charlie asked "no one's home they're not gonna walk in."
"This is our first date Charlie," he said and sat on the coffee table across from her "I'm not that guy…if things don't work out for whatever reason I don't want you thinking it's because I got what I wanted from you and that was it, because it's not like that, I really do like you and I'm trying so hard not to screw this up."
Charlie smiled and sat up "okay I get it," she said and patted the seat beside her "and Brax…tonight was perfect for me."
Brax smiled and move to sit beside her "I just don't want to move too fast…sorry," he said and gave her a quick smile he really did feel like an idiot.
Charlie chuckled and kissed him "it's okay really….now put something on," she said nodding to the tv.
After the movie Brax nudged her off him "you ready to head home now?" he asked.
"If I didn't know any better I'd think you were trying to get rid of me," Charlie said as she did the strap on her shoe.
Brax chuckled and kissed her "if you could stay I'd want you to," he said and stood up "but we both know what will happen if you do."
"Oh no, we'd have sex," she gasped and giggled as he pulled her out the front door.
"Very funny," he chuckled and opened her door for her. Climbing in beside her he leaned over and kissed her.
"What was that for?" she asked with a smile.
Brax shrugged "because I wanted to."
….
When they pulled up at Jack's Charlie frowned "what's my car doing here?"
Brax looked at her car in front of his "wasn't that always there?" he asked.
"No," Charlie said and climbed out "I left it at my house the other night," she said and walked to it just to make sure it was her car. "Yeah this is defiantly my car," she said when Brax appeared beside her.
"Maybe Jack or Pete drove it over for you," Brax said.
"Yeah maybe," she said and looked at it again "but they would have told me," she added as they walked up the drive.
"They knew you were out on a date, they'll probably let you know when you go in," Brax said as they stopped at the door.
Charlie turned to face him "yeah, anyway…thanks for tonight I had a really great time," she said taking a step closer to him.
Brax smiled and slid his hands onto her hips "me too…wanna meet me for lunch tomorrow?" he asked.
Charlie nodded "diner at one?" she asked.
Brax smiled and nodded "I better go," he said and leaned in to kiss her sweetly.
Charlie threw her arms around his neck and deepened it, after they broke apart she fished out her key "I'll see you tomorrow then."
"You will," he nodded and started to walk down the drive "night Charlie!" he called as he got to his car.
"Night!" she called back and let herself in-waving back before she shut the door. Walking to the kitchen she found Jack still on his laptop "hey, did you bring my car here?"
Jack looked up "hey and no I didn't bring your car here why?"
"Because it wasn't there when I left and it is now," she replied and sat beside him.
"Does Pete still have the spare set?" Jack asked and stood up.
Charlie nodded "and I have my set in my bag in the room."
"Alright I'll call him," Jack said and put the phone to his ear "alright mate," he said when he answered
"What's up? Peter yawned.
Jack chuckled "you sound like you could use some sleep."
"Tell me about it," he groaned "I've been here since yesterday."
"So you didn't by any chance bring Charlie's car to my house?" he asked.
"No," he said slowly "I would have told one of you if I did…why?" he asked.
"It's here and neither her or me brought it here," Jack replied.
Peter stood up and walked to his locked drawer, opening it he sighed "my set is gone."
"What?" Jack asked "are you sure they were even there?" he asked looking over at Charlie.
"I don't know I haven't used them in a while, I thought they were here…I'll call you back I have to go home and look, maybe Ruby borrowed them and forgot to tell anyone. Do not let her get in that car until I call back."
"Chill Pete she's heading to bed now…call me back," he said and hung up.
"What's going on?" Charlie asked.
"Nothing," Jack replied "Pete is just gone to check at home," he said and sat back down "good night?" he asked trying to make her forget about it.
"Yeah," Charlie nodded and stood up "great night…night!" she called as she made her way down to her room.
Over at Peter's he frowned at the light on in his living room, he hadn't been there and he knew Charlie or Jack hadn't either. Climbing out he walked up his drive and pulled out his gun something was defiantly going on here. Opening his door he pushed it all the way in and looked into the house-missing his dad sneak by him back to his own car with a sly grin on his face.
Thomas sat in his car and waited for Peter to go inside before he chuckled and started up his car "mind games son, you should know better," he chuckled again and pulled away.
Peter walked from room to room and sighed each time one was empty he was sure someone had been in here but nothing had been touched. Getting to the office in his house he opened the door and walked to the drawer he would normally keep Charlie's keys in. Pulling it open he frowned when they sat there on the top, looking under them he sighed at the paperwork dated two weeks ago he hadn't been near her car in at least a month someone was messing with him and he already knew who it was.
Walking back to the living room he sat on the arm of his sofa and called Jack back. "Jack," he said as soon as he answered "I need you to do me a favour."
"Anything bro," Jack replied.
"I need you to head to the station and go back at least three weeks footage, someone took those keys from my desk and brought them to my house."
"Are you sure?" Jack asked hesitantly.
"Yes," Peter replied "I remember the last time I used her car and I know I put the keys back in my desk at the station."
"So you think it's dad?" Jack asked.
"Yeah," Peter replied "can you do that for me?" he asked.
"Sure I'll be down soon," Jack replied.
"Alright I'll be there soon I just need to go see someone first."
"Don't do anything stupid Pete," Jack said quickly.
"I won't, don't forget to tell Charlie not to go near that car, I'll have it towed away in the morning- he had to have done something to it," Peter said.
"Okay," Jack sighed "I'll see you soon and Pete I mean it nothing stupid," he said and hung up.
Walking by Charlie's room he stuck his head into the room to see her already asleep "she'll be fine until the morning," he said and went to his own room for his shoes and car keys.
….
The next morning Charlie woke up and felt like going for a swim, pulling on a bikini she had there she pulled shorts and a top over it and walked to the living room. She chuckled as she saw Jack asleep on the sofa and figured he'd been up all night on the laptop as usual.
Walking to it she shut it down and threw a blanket over him before pulling her keys from her bag and slipping out the front door.
The bang of the door had Jack on his feet "Charlie!" he called and stumbled sleepily to her room "shit!" he yelled when he found it empty.
Running outside he saw her car turn the corner "damn it!" he yelled and ran back inside for his phone. "Damn it Charlie!" he yelled again as her phone rang from her room.
Dialling Peter he ran out and jumped into his own car "big problem Pete!" he yelled as he screeched after her "I forgot to tell Charlie about her car…she was asleep after I talked to you I didn't want to wake her and I was asleep there when she left."
"And let me guess she's gone off in it?" Peter sighed and rolled out of his bed.
"Yeah I'm following her, if I knew where she was going I could catch up on her."
Peter looked at his clock "it's seven am where does she always got this early?"
"The beach!" Jack yelled and pressed on the gas "I'll meet you there!" he said and hung up.
Charlie got to the open road where she knew not much traffic would be so she sped up a little unaware of the fluid leaving a trail behind her. She just wanted to swim and clear her head, since she arrived home all she could think about was her car and came to the conclusion Ruby had taken it without asking and forgot which house she'd taken it from.
Seeing a stop sign for a bend up ahead she pressed on the brakes, and looked down when nothing happened. Slamming her foot down she began to panic when nothing happened.
Grabbing her bag she quickly emptied it all and threw things aside looking for her phone "shit!" she yelled when she remembered dropping it onto her bed. Seeing the bend fast approach all she could do was close her eyes and wait for impact.
She screamed when the car ran through the sign causing a loud bang and smoke to bellow from the engine. Opening her eyes just in time she gasped wide eyed as the car took the corner and went on it's side before flipping a few times and skidding along the road before coming to a complete stop.
A few minutes later Jack came flying around the corner and jammed on when he saw her car "no! No! No!" he yelled and jumped out "Charlie!" he yelled as he raced towards it "Charlie please be okay!" he yelled panicked.
By the time Jack reached the car he had copped to call an ambulance and Peter. Shoving his phone into his pocket he jumped down and lay flat on his stomach so he could see in "Charlie?" he whimpered holding his breath.
"Jack?" she called back and turned her head "get me out!" she yelled "get me out!"
"Ambulance is on the way, where does it hurt?" he asked scooting into the wreckage.
"Nowhere now get me the fuck out of here, I don't need an ambulance!" she screamed.
"Charlie this is the shock talking just calm down," Jack said and slid his hand into hers.
"It's not," she sighed "I am totally fine apart from a little shaken up…I need to get out of here Jack."
"And you will as soon as the fire-fighters cut you out," he said and turned his head as another car screeched to a stop
"Shit!" they heard Peter yell "is she okay Jack?" he asked scooting in beside them.
"Yes I'm okay," she answered "I just want to get out of here."
"Where does it hurt?" Peter asked.
"Nowhere," Charlie sighed "stop panicking and actually listen to me, I can feel all my bones nothing hurts, I'm not bleeding and I can breath so stop worrying and get me the hell outta here!"
Peter scooted back out "I'm gonna call Brax…fire is here!" he called.
"Don't call Brax!" Charlie yelled "do not call anyone! I am fine!"
"You know you've no way out of this, not with the two of us here," Jack said.
"I know," she sighed "I just wish you'd listen to me…I'm not going to hospital I'll get checked out here then I'm gone."
Jack chuckled "you're not going anywhere," he said and squeezed her hand as a fire-fighter ordered him out "I'll be right outside….love ya," he said before he was replaced by an older guy assessing inside the car.
"Hi Charlie I'm Owen," he said and titled her neck "any pain?" he asked and shone a light in her eyes.
"No I'm fine can you just get me out please," she asked.
Owen chuckled "we'll have you out in no time," he said and scooted back "I just have to grab the protective cover for you then we'll get to work."
Half an hour later she was being pulled out and to her feet "can you walk?" the medic asked.
"Yes I can," Charlie said and walked to the back of the ambulance.
"Did you bang your head? Any dizziness nausea or anything like that?" she asked as she shone another light in her eyes.
"No I'm fine," Charlie replied and she was, whatever way she locked her body in the car had helped all she came out were a few scratches.
"She's seems good," the medic said
"Great can I go now?" Charlie said and brushed by them. Seeing Jack's car she made a beeline for it.
"Charlie!" Peter yelled and ran after her "where are you going!" he yelled as she jumped into the car.
"I am going to end this!" she hissed and sped off before Peter could reach for the door.
Jack hurried over to him "do we follow her?" he asked.
Peter sighed and watched her speed away "no," he said and walked to his own car with Jack following "she'll come back when she gets nothing," he said and climbed in "we'll wait here for Brax."
A/N so there you have it, Charlie is mad…what will she do next? How will Brax react when he turns up to the scene to find her gone? And most importantly, will she find anything in her search for Thomas?"
