I do not own Young Justice or Teen Titans or anything related to the DC Comics universe. I merely own the plot that this mini-story will take.
Chapter Four: H.I.V.E. Five and the Orb
Both Kid Flashes were, naturally, the first to arrive at the tower that the Titans called home. Kid Flash of the Titans watched with interest as his counterpart admired the ominous building with a low whistle before his face scrunched up, a deep look of contemplation etched upon his features.
"What's wrong?" He asked, causing Wally to turn to face him.
"I've seen this place before. It's familiar." He responded, cupping his chin in his hand as he began to think carefully about where he had seen something like this. Then it hit him like a brick wall. "That's it!"
"What's it?"
"I found this glowing orb and before I touched it, it lost its glow and showed me the image of this tower!" Wally explained enthusiastically, figuring that they were on their way to at least understanding part of how they came here. "Maybe that orb was a type of wormhole to this place!"
"Could be," Kid agreed with a smile.
Not too long after, the rest of both teams showed up and a tour was immediately given. Throughout the tour, both teams conversed with one another, and most, if not all, of the past hostility between them had disappeared.
Stepping into the last room the Titans had to share, Robin began to explain it. "And this is the team's living room area and kitchen, which also doubles as the Ops room."
"Whoa, sweet view!" Wally shouted as he darted from one end of the room to the other, admiring the picturesque view of Jump City for a brief moment.
"You think that's sweet? Check out our television." Beast Boy boasted, flicking the power button on the remote and the middle window lighting up with an image of a program.
"Nice," the younger Robin complimented.
The two teams began to converse freely, both groups becoming used to the other. After performing a quick DNA test, it was confirmed that neither side had been lying about their identities
"Wondrous!" Starfire shouted energetically. "Shall we celebrate the good news with a slice of Cyborg's Pizza?"
"It's a good thing I stocked up on ingredients!" Cyborg laughed out.
"Dude, remember to make me a vegetarian pizza this time!" Beast Boy yelled.
"If you want a vegetarian pizza then you can order one. There's no way veggies on a pizza are going in my oven." He retorted, gently rubbing the piece of machinery with care. "My baby only cooks meat on pizza."
"Would you like help?" M'gann questioned. "I can't do much, but I can at least help prepare things."
"Thanks, Miss Martian," Cyborg smiled.
"You're welcome, and just call me M'gann!"
"Dude, make me a vegetarian pizza!"
As the two then began a heated argument over the pizza, Wally stretched his arms and looked at his thirteen-year-old partner knowingly. "Man, staying in these suits for so long is tiring," he mumbled.
"I know, I wish we had some different clothes to change into." Robin agreed.
"Do you think plastic from another dimension will work at malls here?" Kid asked.
"Probably not," He sighed out.
"This whole traveling to different dimensions thing is kind of overwhelming."
"Overwhelmed, underwhelmed... why can't anybody just be whelmed?"
"Do you wish to go to the mall of shopping?" Starfire piped up as she approached the two.
"We would, but we don't have cash." Kid began. "Unless you'd just like to accompany me on a walk?" He flirted, flashing her a smile.
Robin of the Titans saw his advance and cleared his throat. "We'll go with you. It's on us."
After a discussion of where to go, both Robins and Kid Flashes, along with Starfire and Kaldur'ahm, ventured off towards the mall. Artemis sat down beside the pale girl who remained quiet throughout the entire ruckus with her nose in a book.
"Are they always like that?" She questioned, staring at the changeling and half-robotic man who were still going at it with M'gann gathering ingredients.
"Unfortunately," Raven replied from behind the book.
"What you reading?" The blonde continued her questioning.
"Spell book,"
"Sounds interesting,"
Raven wordlessly brought a book that was beside her and let it levitate before Artemis who took it hesitantly. "Thanks," she replied, opening the book and beginning to read quietly. She had to admit it was a good way to get her mind off things.
Conner sat quietly upon the sofa away from the two girls, flipping through the television channels with little interest, taking a glance at M'gann every so often to see what she was doing. Soon Beast Boy joined him and offered to play video games with him, which he reluctantly agreed to do. As time went by, he slowly became more accustomed to the changeling's behavior and was soon becoming more competitive.
No more than an hour had passed before everyone who went out returned. Wally and Robin were now mask-less and wearing normal clothes with Robin wearing a pair of dark shades to cover his eyes. His older self had been somewhat shocked to see the younger him sporting something other than his mask, but he decided against voicing his opinion. Kaldur'ahm didn't buy anything to change into, staying in his uniform was fine by him, but he did make sure that they purchased Artemis a change of clothes knowing she wasn't always in costume back at Mount Justice.
The night ended with lively chatter between the two groups as they ate the pizza that Cyborg had made with M'gann's help. Beast Boy was even in good spirits because he was made a pizza of his own by the green martian who had persuaded Cyborg to allow her to make him one.
"So," the younger Robin began. "What kind of bad guys do you have around here?"
"The usual, I guess," his older self replied.
"We deal with everything from noob criminals to the crazies who want to rule the world." Beast Boy added through a piece of pizza. "We're pretty awesome."
The two doors where the hallway began slid open and in came five more people, two of which darted inside as a white blur, yelling, "¡Más y Menos, sí podemos!" The white blur stopped beside the table they all sat at and it became clear that they were two twelve-year-olds in white unitards, one with a plus and the other with a minus on their chests.
"What's happening, Double M?" Cyborg greeted, high fiving the two twins with a smile.
"Hola, señor Cyborg," the two replied in unison.
"Hey guys," greeted a girl in a black and yellow turtleneck, the wings behind her back swaying slightly with each step she took. "What's up?
"We are currently sharing the gossip with our new friends!" Starfire answered.
"Hey," the black haired Atlantean greeted.
"'Sup?" the archer added.
"Good to see you again," Robin replied.
"What's the special occasion? If I knew you were coming I would have made more pizza." Cyborg said.
"It's fine, we ate on the way over," Bumblebee replied. "Thought we'd just stop by and see how things were going. And don't worry, we got some people to look over Steel City for us."
"Who've you got here?" Speedy questioned as he looked over the six other teens in the room.
"It's crazy!" Beast Boy shouted. "You'll never guess where they're—"
Raven looked up from her plate as the changeling's shouts were becoming annoying to her. "They're from another dimension." She blatantly stated.
"You're right, that does sound crazy." Speedy replied.
Going from one side of the table to the other, Robin began to introduce everyone. "This is Superboy, Miss Martian, Artemis, Kid Flash, Robin, and Aqualad." He then, in turn, began to introduce the others. "This is another group of Titans. They're the Titans East who take care of Steel City. This is Bumblebee, Más, Menos, Speedy, and Aqualad."
There was a small exchange of words between the two groups and once everyone was better introduced, the usual small talk was made.
"So there's another Speedy in this place, too, huh?" Kid Flash mused.
"There's another me in your dimension?"
"Yeah, but he goes by Red Arrow and he can be pretty difficult to deal with." Robin explained.
"Why not just say it?" Artemis questioned. "He can be a jerk when he wants to."
"I guess that means you're not all that different after all, huh?" Aqualad looked to his partner with a smirk.
"You know what I'm craving right now, Unitard Guy? Lots of fish tacos!" He threw right back at him.
"Don't you dare! They're my friends!"
The two males then began to bicker and Bumblebee rolled her eyes. "Sorry about them," she apologized. "Hey, both of you cool it!" She ordered.
"Are they always like this?" Conner questioned the two twin speedsters.
"Sí, Super Macho es siempre una gran reina del drama." (Yes, Super Macho is always a drama queen.) They replied, and Conner, not knowing the Spanish language, shrugged off their reply and continued to eat his slice of pizza quietly.
Suddenly the tower's alarm system went off, the room being bathed in a glowing red light as the Titans' Robin jumped up and headed over to the console. "Those fish tacos will have to wait, Speedy." He said, pulling up an image of the H.I.V.E. Five trashing numerous stores on the streets. "It's the H.I.V.E. Five."
Kid Flash looked up at the scene, seeing the group of six villains busting windows and stealing the merchandise as they pleased before he saw one item that looked oddly familiar. "That's the orb I touched!" He shouted.
"What?" Artemis looked at the ginger in confusion.
"That was the thing you told me not to touch!"
"We need to get that orb, it could be our way back to Mount Justice." Robin said, getting up like the rest of the team.
Robin turned to face everyone and gave a nod of the head. "We'll get it back. Titans, go!"
Reviews are much appreciated! I'd also like to state that in this story, Jinx never switched sides/went with Kid Flash at the end of the episode "Lightspeed" so she's still with her old team.
