When The
Lightning Strikes
Chapter 4
Waking Up
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the general idea you see within this story. Now... Let's roll on!
Even with his speedy healing, it was around 2 days before Barry finally woke up from the coma like state he'd been in after his rather brutal fight with the Reverse Flash. The groan that came from him quickly brought over Caitlin to him in a rush. "Barry!" Caitlin honestly was shocked but also happy he had finally woken up. Though she had been of the view it'd be longer then this before he would wake up due to how extensive the damage was. Plus the fact that the majority of his body was still in casts as a safety percaution.
"Ugh... I hurt all over..." He mumbled amidst his pain filled groans.
"Well Mr. Allen, that's to be expected after a fight like that." Caitlin told him seriously.
Barry tried to turn his head, but for whatever reason couldn't do it. Which honestly made him panic a little. Caitlin quickly noticed that however and went to reassure him and explain why he wasn't able to move his head. Which was something he wasn't exactly happy about. Caitlin could only huff at that and told him it was necessary to ensure a full recovery. "Yeah, but I don't want to look like a mummy!" His whiny comment only served to make Caitlin roll her eyes at him.
"Well you're just going to have to get used to it!" And that was that as far as she was concerned. And if he knew what was good for him, he'd listen to her!
The Speedster could only sigh at that and pretty much resigned himself to being like this for however long. And knowing Caitlin, it could be a good while before he gets out of this thing if she has her way. At least his face wasn't all that blocked, so bonus right there! "Has... Has there been any sign of the Reverse Flash?" Caitlin supposed she shouldn't be all that surprised that he would ask that so soon.
"No, I'm sorry." She told him sadly and Barry closed his eyes at that for a few moments while softly muttering a 'damn' over that.
Caitlin decided she would try something to get his mind off of that. "Well, now that you're awake, I'm gonna let everybody know now." Barry opened his eyes at that and oddly enough, felt worried at the word 'everybody.'
"Now... When you say everybody, you mean just those in the know right?" The good doctor looked at him and quickly realized he must not have been all that aware of the fact his secret identity got exposed during that horrible fight.
She shook her head in the negative at that. "No Barry, your face was exposed during that fight. So pretty much everyone knows now."
"Everybody?"
"Everybody." She confirmed.
Barry considered that for a moment. "Well... Crap." He was already starting to imagine the possibilities that all brought up.
The good Doctor Snow could only laugh at his reaction to that. And honestly, it was the first laugh she'd had in the past few days too. "Yes, laugh at the fact I've been exposed. Laugh away as those closest to me who didn't know are likely very, very angry with me for not knowing about my more speedier side." He mocked groused at her, something that made her laugh again.
"Happy to help! Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm going to go make a call or two." And she walked off, leaving Barry to sigh at what she was doing. He was SO not looking forward to certain reactions. Such as Linda's, Iris', and Felicity's. Oliver's too if he hadn't of taken off to fight some lead Assassin nutjob.
He did briefly wonder why it was just him and Caitlin, but figured everybody felt it was best to be busy instead of waiting around worrying themselves into heads full of gray hair. He supposed he couldn't blame them for it, even though it hurt a little that nobody else had been around aside from Caitlin. But he was at least thankful as can be she was there. Of course then again, she was his doctor in addition to being a good friend.
Author's Notes: And here we are! I certainly hope this was worth the wait. And may you all enjoy! Apologies if this feels short to anyone however. R and R!
