AN: Oh boy, a backstory, lovely. I am not that great at backstories so please give me feedback on how I do. Please don't criticize me. This one also has a bit of (Chase x Skye) and (Lupe x Everest).

Night of Wolves

Chapter 4

Lupe's and Chase's Story.

"It all started on a full moon, "Lupe started.

"Oh, Joseph, I think I'm going to have them, OW!" breathed Lupe and Chase's mother Crystal.

"Holed on honey, I'm getting you water," Joseph said running to and from the den.

"MMMmmm… *labored breathing* mmm…" Crystal moned.

After a while, and pain Crystal gave birth to Lupe first and then Chase. "Aw, look dear, this one looks like you," Crystal said while licking Lupe.

"And this one you, Crystal," Joseph said while looking at Chase.

Lupe was born as a wolf and Chase as a German Shepherd, but that changed in just five hours.

"Honey look," Crystal picked up Chase, "He's changing!"

Joseph watched his son change to a wolf in front of him. "We were blessed with the Chosen Ones, I can't believe it," Joseph said while kissing his mate.

"Meaning they are going to be the most powerful wolves/German Shepherds ever, in one thousand years." Crystal exclaimed smiling.

A couple months later.

"Mom, Chase and I are going to go exploring," Lupe yelled to his mom in the den.

"Ok dear, be back before sun down," Crystal said coming out of the cave.

"Yes mom," Chase said following his brother.

"Come on Chase, stop being a slow poke," Lupe tessed.

"Haha, I bet I am faster than you," Chase smirked while running past Lupe who then followed him.

After a while the to wolf pups played tag and play fighting. Then they heard a gunshot.

BANE!

It echoed through the forest. It scared both the brothers, but they did as they were taught. They ran back to the den as fast as they can.

When they arrived, they were horrified. There were humans and they just stabbed Lupe and Chase's mother to death like she was nothing but a stuffed animal. Lupe and Chase were sad, angered, and crazed. Lupe leaped onto the first human, knocking him to the ground. Lupe then bit his neck hard and ripped the man's throat out killing him.

The second man tried to shoot Lupe off his friend but was taken down by Chase and he did the same has Lupe did to the other man. With both the poachers dead Lupe and Chase ran to their mother. She was barely alive.

"Mother?" Lupe and Chase said with tears coming to their eyes.

Crystal responded with a very weak voice, "Lupe, Chase, *breathes heavily* you two are the Chosen Ones. You will live long lives. Please life on, for your father and I" She then took her final breath and died in front of here pups who then started to cry for the loss of their last parent. (AN: There father died a month before. The way he died was 10 times worse than how their mother died. I am already crying making this.)

Lupe and Chase then buried their mother next were they buried their father.

Lupe then said, "Chase you and I need to split up. *sniffles* I don't want the same to happen to you."

"Lupe I was about to say the same thing, but happens when we find each other again, we will both only be German Shepherds for only five hours."

"That is why I will stay wolf and you will stay Shepherd." Lupe said.

Chase then changed into a German Shepherd. He and Lupe then hugged once more and said their goodbyes and turned into different directions.

That is our story together, as far as I remember, I was walking and came up to Adventure Bay and that is when Ryder found me," Chase finished looking up at Ryder who had tears coming from his eyes.

Chase and Lupe had tears in their eyes from having to remember that horrible day. Everyone who was listening to their story also had tears, the pups, Mayor Goodway, even all of the townspeople.

Lupe and Chase got emberssed and got up and went to their pup houses and closed the doors. Once the doors closed they both bursted out crying because of the horrible memories.

Back outside, Ryder wiped his face and said to everyone, "Ok, I think we are done here."

The people all gave nods and they all started to disperse back to the town.

After an hour,

The Lookout drive way was all cleared. The pups were heartbroken at Lupe and Chase's story and how horrible it was.

Skye went to Chase's pup house and knocked on the door. The door slowly opened and Chase slowly got up still with tears in his wolf eyes. Skye then jumped to him and hugged him tightly and said, "Chase, I am so sorry for what you and your brother had to go through." Chase hugged her back and laid down and Skye nuzzled against him.

Later, Everest came down to the Lookout, She saw the hole thing on TV and came as soon as she could. She then went up to Lupe's pup house and knocked at the door. "Lupe? Are you still in there?" She asked in a soft tone.

The door opened and Lupe said trying to calm down, "I'm *sniffs* still *sniffs* here,"

Everest slowly comes in and lays down next to Lupe and nuzzles him. He then calms down and goes to sleep with Everest.

In the Morning,

Lupe was in his little workshop in his pup house. He wanted to get his mind off of what happened yesterday and what he had to remember. He was loading some C4 into his pup-pack. Just then he saw some unstable C4 on the desk. He immediately picked it up and tried to get it stabilized by taking it it to his C4 chamber.

As he was walking over, someone rolled a smoke/teargas canister. Lupe noticed, but by that time it was too late. He slipped on it, making him drop the C4. It exploded onto the canister making it spray out teargas and smoke. Lupe was throw to the back of his pup house. Black soot covered him and he was breathing in the teargas and smoke. He soon passed out.

Outside,

Chase, Skye, and Everest were talking outside then they heard the the big bane.

"What was that," Chase said as he was looking around to see where it came from. He soon noticed that there was smoke coming from Lupe's pup house. "Oh NO!" he said has he called Ryder via his pup-tag.

"Ryder! Ryder! Lupe's pup house is smoking. He is still in there." Chase yelled into his pup-tag.

"Got it!" Ryder said running out of the Lookout with Marshall with his water cannon.

When Ryder and Marshall got to Lupe's pup house, all they saw was Chase, Skye, Everest looking scared and in disbelief. When Marshall tried to get closer, he caught a whiff of the teargas, and he started to cough uncontrollably.

Marshall said coughing, "I need to… get my… mask… there is teargas." He then ran to his fire truck. He came out with to masks, one for him and one for Chase who wanted to help. He headed Chase the mask and said, "Chase, just follow me, if we are lucky there will be no fire."

Marshall and Chase went into the pup house and found the canister and Lupe's unconscious body. Marshall then sprayed the canister and and when to Lupe. He and Chase then got to Lupe and dragged him outside. Once outside, Lupe started to cough and Marshall went to go get him EMT kit.

Lupe was coughing heavily, and blood came out of his mouth, his lungs were damaged inside. Lupe gasped for breath while also choking on his own blood. He then managed to say in a horse voice, "Internal damaged doesn't heal as fast as I would like it. Chase, tell Marshall, that in order for my lungs to heal he needs to get mint leaves. Remember what mom taught us."

All Chase could do was nod. Marshall then came back and Lupe passed out again. Chase then turned to Ryder, "Ryder, Marshall, we need to get some wild mint leaves from the forest. That is the only way he can heal his internal injuries. His external will heal quick."

"Chase, I will stay with Lupe and make sure he doesn't die. You and Ryder go and retrieve the mint leaves." Marshall ordered.

"Ryder, I know where some wild mint is," Chase said looking at Ryder.

"Than what are we waiting for. Lets GO!" Ryder yelled as he and Chase jumped onto his ATV.

In the forest,

Chase and Ryder were looking for the mint leaves. Chase knew where some were.

"Stop!" Chase said, "I can smell some."

Ryder came to a stop and Chase jumped off and smelled the are for mint.

After a few minutes, Chase found some mint leaves and grabbed more than enough. Then, he and Ryder raced back to Lupe.

Back at the Lookout.

Lupe's external wounds have now healed because he was in his wolf form, but his internal wound was catching up to him. His lungs were messed up and he could barely breathe because of the teargas and smoke.

Marshall was doing everything in his power to make him feel better, but nothing was working. Everest, was by Lupe's side and crying. Lupe, though weak, lifted his paw to comfort her.

Just when Marshall was about to give up, Ryder and Chase came up with the mint leaves in Chase's mouth. When Ryder stopped Chase jumped off and ordered Marshall, "I need a bowl and masher asap." Marshall then went into his pup house again and got what Chase requested.

Chase then took the bowl and put the leaves into it and mashed them to make a minty paste. He then got Lupe's dish and put the paste in it and ordered Marshall to fill it with water.

Marshall then filled the dish, and Chase stirred the mint paste in with the water. Lupe then became conscious again, right in the nick of time.

"Lupe, I got the mint and did what mom taught us. It is in your bowl," Chase said pushing the dish closer to Lupe. Lupe then looked at the dish to the greenish water, and began to drink it. After he finished it, another wave of pain came over him and he collapsed and passed out again.

"Well, did it work?" Everest said wiping tears from her eyes.

"Yes, it did, he just needs to get some sleep." Chase answered.

"I cleaned up his pup house. It is safe for him to be in it again. All the smoke and teargas has been filled out." Rocky said waking over to the others.

"Great, let's get him in there for now," Marshall ordered.
