Fourth Chapter

Lots of talk in this one...

"Remember when I made you eat that spider?" Mariah said laughing and Danny sighed.

"I do, I was sick for entire week afterwards" he pushed her playfully and she smiled.

"Yeah, sorry about that… tell me… why did you even eat it? I can't really remember…"

"Your memory's starting to fail you…"

"Hey! We were like… how old were we even?"

"See?"

"Oh shut up" she smacked the back of his head and giggled "I was just kidding, I remember we were 8 at the time, so what was the bet?"

"We bet that if the loser of a race around your father's mansion had to obey one order from the winner"

"And I won?" she asked, even though she knew the answer.

"You cheated, you knew that mansion inside out, plus all the shortcuts"

"I was still just 8! That must make up for something…" she said and sighed "maybe that was the reason I was so sadistic towards you" she pushed him playfully and he chuckled.

"Not as sadistic as when you turned 10. I remember crying more than once"

"Of laughter because I embarrassed you so much time and time over again" she giggled and smiled at him.

"I don't remember it like that" he said and looked around "are we there soon?" he asked and she nodded.

"My mother bought a penthouse, so you have to look up to notice her… 'style' of decoration" she said and smiled. He looked up and stopped.

"You see it right away" he said and sighed mentally. The penthouse bulged out of the building like a big blob.

"She owns the entire building too… so no one can do anything about that goddamn thing…"

"I think it's very… artistic…" Danny said and she sighed.

"Try sleeping while able to see people walking around beneath you, then you won't find it 'artistic'" she sighed and walked into the building "Anyway, you don't have to escort me inside too"

"When you say that it means 'buzz off or I'll kick you' or something along those lines" He said and she smiled.

"Something along those lines, I'd just swear a little more I think" she said and winked.

"Probably, see you tomorrow?" Danny asked and she nodded"

"Definitely" she walked inside and went for the elevator. She stood and waited for it to reach the top floor. She held her own shoulders and took a deep breath.

#Damn… a lot happened today…# she thought and looked in the mirror of the elevator. A 'ding' sounded and the doors opened. She walked out and into her mother's home.

"Hey honey!" her mother yelled and she dumped her back on the floor.

"Hey mom!" she yelled back and walked further in, to the living room.

"How was your first school day?" her mother asked as she entered the room.

"Eventful, and the school's so big" Mariah answered and sat down on the couch with a loud thump. She scratched herself behind the ear.

"really, what happened?"

"I met Danny! He goes to school there!" she said happily.

"Oh that's great honey!" her mother replied and smiled "anything else? I mean, it's your first day"

"I can't really think of anything else right now… maybe it'll come to me later" she said and her mother sighed.

"Are you sure, nothing comes to mind? Nothing at all?" She said and Maria looked up. then she noticed the shadows around her had started moving slightly, even though nothing in the room was moving.

"Mom… what's going on here?" she asked and looked around. A person stepped out of the shadows, followed by several others wearing onyx's on their heads.

"Oh dearie" the woman said and looked down. A white stripe appeared in her hair and she looked up again "I'm not 'mom'" she said and smiled "get her" she said and the persons attacked. The whole was silent, no screams, no sounds "excellent."
