Chapter 2
Blue eyes and a friend
"You shouldn't be doing this" Aquamarine eyes glinted under the moonlight, face set in a cold, hard look as his eyes pinned her down. "You, out of all people, should know why"
"Then you should also know why I need to do this" a harsh voice spoke, hands tightening around the handle of her worn, copper blue suitcase.
The night is dark, and the person she is talking to is cloaked under the shadows–they both are–but she didn't need much light to know what his face must be like right now. His gaze is probably full of either disappointment or determination, his jaw clenched with him taking deep shallow breaths as to control the urge to lunge at her and her rash decisions.
She inhales the cold air, reminding her of her decision and why she did it, sobering her up and making her stand more rigidly. "Besides-" green clashed against blue, both stubbornly refusing to go with the demands of the other. "-you and I both know that the pros outweigh the cons"
They both stood silently, their surroundings blurring as their bullheadedness clashed together like lightning. Him, with his hands in his pockets, gaze set in determination and his eyes flashing like molten gold as he stared her down. And her, with an unwavering stance as her jaw clenches and her eyes flash a striking bright orange.
(And yet, they both already know what the outcome will be, years of comradery flashing through their minds, of bruised knees and gap-toothed smiles, of always standing up whenever taken down, and of years of being each others partner-in-crime)
He is the first to break–they both know that would happen–his hands coming out of his pockets and into the air as he gives her a mocking smile, his face a complete 180 from what it was a minute ago, he takes a few steps forward and she is greeted with a too familiar face and crimson locks.
And it is impossible not to notice that he is shivering.
"Well? not even giving me a greeting, princesa? his smile turns into a tired grin, and her stance falls entirely at the notion. The suitcases falls to the floor and her arms are embraced tightly around his torso, a laugh bubbling out of her lips as she is momentarily lifted into the air and cold arms are wrapped around her.
(She is reminded of a warm, half-giant's hug and her arms falter a miniscule amount before returning back to its tight hold, the other party completely unaware of what is on her mind)
"When did you come back?" She–Leilana Dorea Zabinski Estrella–whispered silently as she was put back down. Her viridian eyes observing the male in front of her as he flinched and avoided her gaze.
"Yesterday's morning. I was whisked off by my father the complete day, I couldn't see you between my training and your studies" He answered guiltily as she picked up her suitcase from the ground. His posture straightens. "But I heard the rumors that-"
"The rumors of the Vongola seeking to put us under its reign?" She finished for him, her back ramrod straight as she slowly walked towards the night. "I know that already"
Leilana breathes out a sigh as she walks on. The hot air forming a mist due to the cold temperature. She stops.
"Well? Are you not coming with me?" She looks back at him, a grin pulling at her face as glowing orange eyes replaced viridian green. "Alex?"
A laugh escaped him–Alexander Quinston—his eyes flashing gold before settling into their usual aquamarine as he jogged up to her.
"Anything for my sky"
(And she is glad that she has someone.
You don't have to worry anymore,
Hermione, Ron.)
(I make no promises of getting into trouble though)
...
While it is short, I just wanted to introduce Leilana's first guardian, childhood friend, and partner-in-crime, Giovanni Quinston.
I appreciate all the support and I know I sounded like a youtuber doing an apology video on my author's note previously (not naming anyone though)
Till next time. Ciao!
