You don't ask questions when Sirius kisses you. You've long since stopped wondering why he'd ever choose someone as broken as you.
(But why does this feel different? Why do you feel empty, like something is missing?)
"Moony," he murmurs against your lips.
(And it sounds so strange, like he's speaking from a distance.)
"Padfoot."
And you start to cry.
(But why are you crying? Why should something that's happened a thousand times feel so sad?)
And then you wake up alone. The other side of your bed is cold and untouched, and you remember that Sirius is just a ghost now.
