Moments
Hello, so firstly I would like to apologize for the long absence. I have been incredibly busy working two different jobs, I moved in with my lovely boyfriend and my mum has been very ill. Rubbish excuses I know but that's the truth. I'm hoping things will settle down soon and I can start updating more regularly. This story isn't set around any specific season and is just a drabble I wrote a few weeks ago. I don't own Criminal Minds, I just like to occasionally play around with the characters. I hope you enjoy the story and thanks for the patience with the slow updates.
This wasn't the first time it had happened. It had happened before and would probably happen again. For a second there would almost be a deeper connection but fear would creep in and each side would draw back in retreat. He wanted her. He wanted her more than anything else in the world. He wanted to hold her in his arms and never let go. He wanted to be the reason she smiled and the reason she laughed. He wanted to be a big part of her world, and he was almost certain she wanted him as well. But he wasn't one hundred per cent certain and that small cloud of doubt would always win over at the last second.
This time they had been on the jet, the whole team were asleep after a long and exhausting case in New Orleans. He had been fixing himself a coffee, when he felt her presence standing close to him. Close enough to smell the spice in her perfume and the smell of talc that always seemed to follow her around.
"Do you really need all that sugar?" She asked, breaking the heated silence.
Reid looked away from his coffee and looked at Emily. Her hair had been pulled back into a ponytail, however a few strands had escaped and had fallen around her face, shaping it perfectly. Her eyes looked awake despite the long hours spent working. "If I sleep now I wont sleep when I get back home."
Emily nodded. "I just may never wake up."
He was about to respond about the improbability of her suddenly dying in her sleep, given her age and physical well being, when she cut him off "Not literally." She smiled.
Silence fell between the two. There was no awkwardness only comfort. Comfort in each others company, there may not of been any spoken words but their eyes were doing the talking for them
'Do you feel this too?'
'Yeah… do you think it's weird?'
'Probably, but I like feeling like this.'
'I do too. Would it be weird if I kissed you?'
'I want you too'
'I want to'
Without realising their eyes had brought the two mere inches from each other, Reid could feel her breath on his body, feel her warmth radiating onto him. She looked at him expectantly.
A cough from a sleeping team member caused the pair to jump back from each other. The charge of the moment gone. Reid looked back to his cooling coffee, by the time he looked back up she had slipped past him and into the bathroom. Sighing he walked back to book. One day he would kiss her, but till then he would go back to longing for her. Knowing that this moment would only be repeated again.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed the story, please let me know what you think. Thanks Rhian.
