Ch.4

Prussia couldn't help but stare at England. First he was a cat and now he was a dog. As Prussia stared at the dog England just titled his head slightly to the side.

Prussia just sighed before he said "Come on let's figure out what kind of dog you are."

England just barked and waged his tail as he followed the white haired nation up the steps. Prussia knew that England had a computer in his office, and if he was ever going to figure out just what sort of dog England was he was going to have to use the internet to help him figure it out. After checking five different rooms Prussia finally found England's office. As Prussia made his way over to the computer England walked into the room and over to the desk. The dog then promptly lied down on the floor as Prussia plopped himself down into the office chair. He turned the computer on, and once it was on Prussia immediately went onto Google.

Once the website was up he looked up British dog breeds. Eventually he found a list of dogs, and once he got the list Prussia started to go look up each dog breed. However, after going through about ten dog breeds Prussia still had yet to figure out what England was. He wasn't an Airedale terrier, Clumber spaniel, or an English Pointer. He was too big to be a toy dog, and Prussia knew he wasn't a beagle. Prussia was starting to lose hope on ever figuring out what kind of dog England was. However, just when Prussia was about to give up he ended up looking up one more dog breed before he called it a night. He clicked on Northern Inuit dog fully expecting to be disappointed, but he was surprised when he was met with a picture of a dog that looked almost exactly like England.

"England, I think I just figured out what kind of dog you are." Prussia said.

The dog just looked at the man in confusion, but Prussia was ignoring him and focusing all of his attention on the computer. After reading a bit Prussia decided that the website couldn't decide where the dog was from. It was on the British dog breed list and the breed was developed in the UK, and most people considered it to be an English breed. However, it also said that the original stock came from Canada. Eventually Prussia decided he didn't care where the dog breed came from he was happy to finally know what kind of dog England was.

Prussia quickly scowled down to the temperament list and started reading. In general he didn't see anything of real note. The breed was supposed to be friendly, quick-witted, and loyal. However, besides mentioning that they are loyal it also said that they could become very attached to owners and anyone they considered part of the 'pack'. However, the website mentioned that the breed could suffer from pretty severe separation anxiety.

"I'm not going to have to worry about that with you am I?" Prussia asked as he looked at the dog.

England didn't bother lifting his head up he just looked at Prussia with his bright green eyes and whined. Prussia just continued to look at the dog for a few more minutes before he sighed.

'OK, note to self don't leave England alone while he is stuck as a dog.' Prussia thought as he shut the computer down.

As the computer shut down he dug his phone out of his pocket. He should probably text Romania or Norway and tell them what happened. After thinking about it for a few minutes he decided to text Romania, the man was always a night owl so he might still be up. Once he found Romania's number he quickly sent him the text.

Hey, England turned into a Northern Inuit dog.

A couple of minutes passed by and Prussia started to think that maybe Romania was asleep, but he was proven wrong when he finally got a text back.

What the heck does a Northern Inuit dog look like?

Prussia thought about how to respond for a few seconds before he finally looked over at England.

"Hey England, look over here." Prussia said.

England lifted his head and looked at Prussia, and once his head was up Prussia quickly took his picture with his phone. He sent the picture to Romania, and after waiting for a few seconds Romania sent him another text.

Oh, that's what it looks like. Don't they come from Canada or somewhere like that? Why would England turn into that of all things? If he was going to turn into a dog I always thought he would be a corgi or some sort of terrier.

Prussia just rolled his eyes before he sent a text back.

Evidently the breed was developed in the United Kingdom, but you're getting off subject. England just turned into a dog here.

It only took a few seconds for Romania to reply.

Did you see him transform? Also, have you told Norway?

I didn't see him transform. I was out bar hoping with France and Spain, and when I got back England was a dog. Also, no I have not told Norway.

I'll tell Norway about it. Keep me updated if he transforms into anything else.

Prussia sighed as he sent Romania a quick 'OK'. Once he had sent his text Prussia got up from his seat and started to walk out of the room.

"I'm going to bed." Prussia grumbled out.

England didn't respond he just followed the red eyed man as he walked to his room. Once Prussia had made it to his room he flopped down on his bed and quickly pulled the covers over himself. He was so sired that he didn't even bother changing into pajamas. Prussia closed his eyes, but he quickly snapped his eyes back open when he felt something jump onto the bed and lie down beside him.

Lying right next to him was England, and the dog looked rather comfortable in his position. Gilbird had made himself comfortable on the extra pillow that was on the bed. Prussia didn't know if he should tell England to get off the bed or not. Prussia hadn't minded when England slept on his bed when he was a cat, but now that he was a dog he took up a lot more room.

"Can't you sleep in your own bed?" Prussia asked.

The dog just huffed a little before he gave him a look that seemed to say "I'm not moving".

Prussia wasn't in the mood to deal with this so he just shrugged his shoulders.

"Fine, sleep wherever you want." Prussia said. "Goodnight, England and Gilbird."

Gilbird chirped out a good night, and England grumbled a little before he closed his eyes. Prussia smiled a little before he finally closed his eyes and fell asleep…..

Today was Saturday witch meant that the World Meeting for this month was officially over, and that most of the nations would be going home today. A few of the nations may stick around so that they can have a day to relax, but they would be gone by Sunday. Prussia was happy that the nations were going home because he wouldn't have to worry as much about having a nation suddenly showing up, and Prussia wouldn't have to make up excuses for why England was missing. However, while the nations going home really helped out it also caused a whole entire new problem for him.

That problem came in the form of his brother Germany. Germany, Italy, and Prussia had been planning on going back to Germany on Sunday. However, it was becoming rather obvious that Prussia wasn't going to be going home with them since England was still under a spell. Prussia had yet to come up with excuse as to why he would be staying at England's house. He was hoping he would have come up with some sort of excuse by now, but he couldn't come up with anything.

He was sitting down at England's kitchen table eating his eggs and trying to figure out what he should do. Gilbird was eating some birdseed that Prussia was able to find in England's house. The birdseed was meant for the bird feeder that England had in his front yard, but it worked as food for Gilbird. England was just given some ham that the British nation had stored in his fridge. Luckily, the hound seemed happy with the ham, but Gilbert figured he was going to have to go on a grocery run soon just so that he would have enough meat to keep him England fed.

The thought of just getting dog food briefly crossed his mind, but it was quickly rejected. He may be a dog now, but he was still England and the poor guy didn't deserve to be fed dog food of all things. Prussia sighed as he tried to mentally plan out his day, but he was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his cellphone ring. A quick glance at the caller id told him that it was Germany, and the red eyed man couldn't help but curse a little when he saw it. He had yet to come up with a good excuse as to why he was going to stay at England's house for a while.

He was tempted to not answer the phone, but the knowledge that Germany would just keep calling until he finally answered made the man finally answer the call.

"What's up West?" Prussia said the second he answered the call.

"Good morning Prussia. I was calling to ask if you were still coming home with me on Sunday." Germany said.

"I don't think I can England is still really sick and I wouldn't want to leave him in this condition." Prussia answered while mentally praying that Germany wouldn't ask any questions.

Germany was quite for a long time before he said "You're being unusually helpful to England."

"Hey, I can be helpful!" Prussia snapped.

"You can be, but I have never seen you so concerned about England before." Germany said slowly.

Germany had him there, and Prussia couldn't help but frown and look down at the white dog that was a nation. England just looked back up at him and panted while he wagged his tail, and Prussia couldn't help but smile a little bit at that.

"England's my friend and I want to help. Besides I feel bad for him." Prussia said.

England was more like a drinking buddy more than anything else, but Prussia did consider him a friend even if they weren't super close. Also, Prussia did feel bad that England was in this situation to begin with so he wasn't lying when he told Germany that. Add on to the fact that he was responsible for this whole mess and feeling really guilty about it and it was no wonder that Prussia couldn't just walk away and leave this mess to Norway and Romania as much as he might sometimes want to.

Germany was quite again for a long moment before he sighed and said "Well, I guess it's good that someone is looking out for him."

After he said that Prussia could hear what sounded like Italy saying something in the background. Germany responded to him, but the red eyed man couldn't hear what he was saying. However, after his short discussion with Italy was over Germany returned to talking to Prussia.

"Listen; since we will be leaving you here in England for who knows how long Italy thinks we should go out for lunch today since we will be leaving tomorrow."

"You sure you want me to be interrupting your alone time with your lover?" Prussia teased.

Germany just let out a loud sigh before he said "I think we will be fine. Besides our alone time today will consist of going to art museums. Italy insists that we go to the Guertena art exhibit that just opened up in London."

"So going out to lunch with me would be a welcomed break from the art exhibits, huh?" Prussia asked.

Germany was silent, but Prussia figured he hit the nail right on the head with that question. Germany liked going to art exhibits on occasion, but they were Italy's obsession and being dragged off to only god knows how many exhibits by the excited boy in one day could get tiring fast. Prussia bit his lip and wondered how he should respond to this. He could refuse the invitation and that would be the end of it, or he could accept the invitation and probably have to bring England along with them.

Prussia wasn't sure if England would suffer from separation anxiety, and to be honest the man really didn't want to find out. England would be angry enough at him for getting him into this mess. Prussia didn't need to add fuel to the fire by letting a panicking dog version of England rip up whatever he could get his jaws on. Lord knows with Prussia's luck England would probably rip up some crochet pillow that the Queen made for the nation.

So if Prussia was going to go somewhere he would have to bring the dog with him. It would be a bit of a pain to do, but Prussia wasn't risking anything with this. Really though it would just be easier to refuse Germany's invitation, but Prussia had to admit that he actually wanted to go out with his brother and Italy. He was going to be stuck in England for who knows how long so this would be the only chance that he would have to hang out with them before they went home while he was forced to stay here.

With that thought in mind the white haired man just said "I'll go out with you, but he have to go to an outdoor café that allows dogs."

"Why dogs?" Germany asks in confusion.

"I'll explain when you get here." Prussia answered.

He quickly hang up before Germany could respond and placed his phone down on the table and looked over at England.

"So how do you feel about going out?" The man asked the greed eyed hound. The dod just tilted his head slightly to the side in confusion as he flicked his ears back and Prussia just prayed that he wasn't making a mistake by agreeing to go out….

The ringing of the doorbell is soon accompanied by the sound of deep harsh barking. Prussia can hear England's claws clicking on the hardwood floor as he rushes toward the front door like his life depends on it. Prussia just rolls his eyes and turns the TV off before he slowly followed after the hound with white fur. Upon reaching the door Prussia can't help but smile just a little upon seeing England sitting in front of the door barking up a storm. It figures that England would be like every other dog in the world when it came to someone ringing the doorbell.

The small smile the graces the man's face quickly fades away when he sees the red, white, and blue of the Union Jack collar that is around the dog's neck. Prussia had rushed out to buy the thing right after he had finished his conversation with Germany. He also bought a bunch of heart shaped tags filled with contact information to put on the collar. Much as Prussia hated doing having to buy it he was going to need a leash and collar for England if he planned to bring the nation turned dog with him anywhere.

The tags were added to keep of the whole pet charade up, and if for whatever reason England got out of the house and got lost and found by a stranger then they would be able to contact Prussia and return him. Still, Prussia felt wearied out about having to put a collar on England and the fact that the nation was a dog and had the mind of the dog did nothing to change the situation. As for England he acted perfectly fine about the collar and for the most part it was almost like the dog didn't even notice that the thing was on him.

Prussia quickly pushes his thoughts about the collar away as he opens the door. Standing there was Germany and hiding behind the blond haired nation was Italy. The Italian nation had his head poking out from behind the nation and it looked like he was clinging to the back of Germany's shirt. If Prussia had to guess he was going to assume that England's deep barks had freaked Italy out a little. Not that Prussia could really blame him for being freaked out. England's barks were so loud and deep that they could put Cujo to shame.

Upon seeing England Italy's eyes grew wide as he said "England has a wolf?"

"He's a Northern Inuit dog." Prussia said quickly.

Italy eyes the dog cautiously while England just wages his tail and pants. All in all he looks like your typical friendly dog, and to be truly honest that was what he was now. Italy's eyes soften slightly and he glances over at Prussia as if silently asking if it was OK to pet him.

"Go right ahead." Prussia says.

With permission granted Italy is on his knees in front of the dog in a matter of seconds. Italy cautiously scratches the dog behind his ear, but the second the dog licks Italy's cheek the caution is thrown to the wind and the Italian nation has his arms wrapped around the green eyed hound. England's tail thumps against the hardwood floor as he wags it while he drinks up the loving attention that the Italian nation was now showering down on him.

It was a little surreal to watch really. England was never open with his affection. Prussia wasn't sure if he should say that the man was naturally standoffish or if he was so scared of being hurt that he didn't normally allow people to get close enough to see his softer side. However, regardless of what the case was Prussia did know that England had a soft affectionate side.

Occasionally, England's colonies would talk about the sweet things that England would do for them when they were still children. America would mention the handmade toys England would make for him while Canada would quietly talk about lullabies the nation would sing to help him feel better during stormy nights. Australia happily talked about the few creative bedtime stories that the nation used to come up with, and New Zealand once mentioned a time when England went full on mother hen on him when he was sick with the flu.

It was a little hard to imagine, but England always did have a soft spot for children even if he didn't always show it. However, even if the British nation had a soft affectionate side he never really showed it. Yet, here he was vibrating with happiness while Italy cuddled him. Prussia couldn't help but wonder if the lack of memories made it so that England was free of his past and therefore able to be as affectionate as he pleased.

Heck, he was even pretty loving toward Spain and usually those two didn't actually get along all that well. Of course he didn't get along with France, but Prussia was pretty sure that England's disliking France was embedded into his very DNA so that didn't surprise him at all.

"Prussia?"

Prussia was snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing his name and he quickly looked up at his brother only to see the man motion toward the dog while giving him a look that said "Explain. Now."

"England got a dog. His name is Hewie." Prussia said.

The nation couldn't help but be secretly grateful that the blond girl at the checkout counter at the pet store had been really chatty. Upon hearing about his new 'dog' the girl had started to chatter about her white German Shepherd named Hewie. Prussia thought Hewie was a good enough name for a dog so he figured it word work as a name for the dog version of England.

Upon hearing the name Italy started to grin as he said "That's a great name!"

The Italian nation ruffled the dog's fur as he said "Hi Hewie. My name is Italy!"

England tilted his head slightly to the side like he couldn't figure out why the brown haired man was calling him Hewie, but as long the nation kept petting him the god didn't seem to care about what Italy called him.

"So he's why you want to go to someplace that allows dogs?" Germany asked.

"Yeah, he's energetic during the day so if he was left alone with England he would just keep him from getting any sleep. He doesn't like being alone either so he would just throw a fit until England lets him into his room so locking the bedroom wouldn't work." Prussia said.

Germany just gave his brother in unreadable look before he looked down at his boyfriend who was still snuggling with the dog. Germany watched them for a moment and Prussia could have shown he saw a faint smile briefly appear on his face, but it was gone so fast that Prussia had to wonder if he imagined it.

Germany sighed before he looked up at Prussia and said "OK, the dog can come with us."

"Awesome." Prussia said as he pulled the leash down from the coat stand where he left it and attached it to the dog's collar.

Italy let go of the dog with some reluctance, but he just grabbed a hold of Germany's hand and started to smile again. Germany just rolled his eyes as he led his boyfriend back to the car. Prussia just followed after them and got into the backseat of the car with England. Once everyone was in the car Germany started to pull out of the driveway and started driving back into town. As the drove down the little country road all Prussia could really do was watch the scenery go by and pray that today would go well….

Info Time!

Northern Inuit dog: This dog is a crossbred dog that was made in an attempt to create a domestic dog breed more closely resembling the wolf. The dog originates from crosses among German Shepherd Dogs, Siberian Huskies, and a variety of Inuit breeds. Although the original stock is Canadian in origin, the breed was developed in England. As I said before I didn't want to make England a toy dog so I started researching dogs and I stumbled upon this one. I thought it was pretty unique and something new so that's why I had England turn into this dog.

Guertena: Guertena is an artist in the game Ib, and you go to his art gallery in the game.

Hewie: Hewie is the name of the white German Shepherd in the game Haunting Ground. Seemed like as good as name as any to give to the dog version of England.

England and kids: I don't know I always thought England was probably really good with young kids, and I think he probably has a soft spot for kids. On another note I always liked to think that England could be loving toward all of his colonies when they were children and not just America.
