Chapter 4: A cat demon, too?
Rin POV
The water sparkled in the warmth of the sun, cat tails and tall grass swayed in the soft breeze. Trees stood tall and proud on the other side of the river, and beyond the field to the rear of me rose great purple flowers on the bank whisper welcomes me to float along. How beautiful would that be to have those proud trees on my left and that humble field and powerful mountains on my right? While those little purple flowers and sweet daises follow me down the river? The sun would smile on me I know it would, the blue sky would sing to my weary heart, and I would feel at peace. It has been a day since we started traveling towards the Western Land. I asked Lord Sesshomaru if we could travel like we used to instead of flying to the Western Lands and he agreed. Now here I am having a bath.
Just then I heard something. What was it? Where was it from? There behind the rock. I took out my arrow and placed it in the bow before silently walking towards the rock.
"Who is there?" I asked, covering my horrified voice with a brave one. I walked closer and turned around with my bow ready to fire toward the creature.
Sesshomaru POV
The sun smiled on the forest clearing. Dappled light illuminated the petite bluebells that sprung up in bunches from the long and lush grass growing on the river bank. The river alongside it ran tumbling in every direction as pure and as clean as a newborn baby's soul. The ground was moist and alive with peace producing a beautiful fragrance throughout the whole woods. This fragrance was like no other, but a mixture of cold sad morning rain, the scorching afternoon sun and a strong yet gentle night breeze.
Then I smelt it. The smell of Rin's fear then her sadness. I got up and ran as fast as a can only to find her cradled over a rock.
"Rin, what is wrong?" I asked worried.
Rin looked over her shoulder and then turned around with her arms behind her back. "Nothing, milord."
It was obvious that she was hiding something.
"Rin don't address me as your lord. Not anymore. Stop hiding things..." I was cut off by a small meow. I peered behind her back only to see a ball of white. "Rrrin."
She slowly brought the white ball forward. I inspected it carefully and then a small cat jumped on to me. "A newborn cat demon."
"That's why I didn't show you it. I know cats and dogs don't really get along. I found it here, I guess someone abounded it. Can we keep him Sesshomaru-sama?"
"No." I answered.
"Please Sesshomaru." she pleaded with those cute eyes, she know I will always fall for.
"Hn." I turned and walked away.
"Thank you Sesshomaru-sama. I hope we can find it's parents soon." she whispered.
I can't fly much long with the cat jumping around everywhere so me and Rin settled on walking. We found a place to camp for the night as well. I helped grab some nearby sticks to start the fire and caught a rabbit for dinner. I took half the rabbit, moved away from them and ate it raw, leaving some for the cat. Were as Rin sat there cooking her meal while that 'cute', in Rin's terms, cat played with her circling, switching from shoulder to shoulder, pawing her sweet face. While Rin ate her meal this so called 'cute' cat slept on her lap. Suddenly, Rin caught me looking at her and this cat, I don't like getting caught, why are our eyes locked together? I need to look away and I did, as much as I hate to admit it a small blush crept up to my face. I slyly glanced at Rin from the corner of my eyes and caught her smiling at me. I looked away, at least I knew that smile was only for me.
Rin POV
Aaaaw! Kawaii! Sesshomaru looked so cute and jealous all this time as if he wants to play with me like this cat demon. He blushed as well! I have never known that Sesshomaru-sama can show his feeling. I didn't even expect him to be shy in front not only me but also this cat demon.
I got some fresh leaves and laid it out in piles, then placed the little cat demon on it. I walked up to the tree Sesshomaru was sitting on and started to climb up.
"Rin. It's too dangerous up here." Sesshomaru said worriedly.
"But Sesshomaru...I wanted to sleep next to you like I did when I was little. On the soft mokomoko" I whined.
He sighed. "I'll come down. You stay there." He jumped down from the tree top. Then he used his mokomoko to pull into his arms. "You have grown since you where younger. You need to be more cautious of what you wish for."
He laid the white fluff, which I call the mokomoko, and set me down on it. He laid down onto his side and pulled me closer to him. He was so warm. I feel somewhat safe in his arms.
