Chapter 4
"Well, Duo, it seems as though the medicine is stabilizing your chemistry."
"Mmmhmm." Duo looked nonconcerned, as he looked out the window.
"But, it's having the side effect of you acting like this."
He crossed his arms, and sighed, looking at the doctor. "Tell you what, Doc. I'll just stop taking the meds, and then I'll go back to being happy go lucky me. Everyone gets their Duo back, and I get to stop the mind racing, and thebarelyabletocontrolitwantingtokillyou thing." He said the last little bit very fast, as he suddenly jumped at the doctor, aiming for his throat.
"Duo-!" Heero barely managed to drag him off of the white coat, before he did any major damage. The doctor had just gotten a scratch across the face. Unknowingly, Heero reached up, feeling a small scratch that was still healing on his own face lightly. Duo had gotten him before. One of his rages. It's a wonder it hadn't given him a scar.
"Shut the fuck up Heero. Let me at him!"
"Calm down, Baka." He said, as he held him still in an iron grip.
"No! Fuck you, Heero! Let me go!" He squirmed, and started kicking at Heero's feet, and trying to slither away.
Heero was about fed up with the long haired one's antics. He cared, but this was too much. Pulling out his gun, he put it to Duo's head, letting him feel the cool metal against his temple. "Duo." He said, his voice icy.
As soon as he felt the metal to his head, he froze. Then something in him seemed to break as he said in a low, cold, just above a whisper voice. "Go ahead. Do it. Kill me."
"No. We're leaving." Heero nodded to the Doctor, and, keeping the gun on Duo's head, and an arm tightly around him, they left the doctor's office. No one seemed to have the gumption to get in their way. Which was a good thing, because the way Heero was feeling now, if ANYONE did anything out of line, they would get a bullet.
Duo instinctively knew this, of course.
They went out to the car, as the driver got out, and opened the back seat door.
Heero pushed the barrel harder against the smaller boy's head. "Are you going to behave?"
A single nod was all that came him, as he was released from Heero's iron grip, and plopped into the seat. He saw that he seemed to melt when he sat, his head burying itself in his hands. The short haired boy went around to the other side, and got in beside him.
He looked over at Duo, sobs seeming to take over him, as he sat there, his shoulder's shaking. He didn't make any sound, just drops of water fell through his fingertips onto the floorboard below.
The driver got back in, and Heero nodded at him, as they traveled back to the safe house. As he sat there, he kept his gun at the ready, should Duo swing back into some kind of manic-something again. This was the only thing that seemed to calm him, at least at the moment. He hated putting the fear of the bullet into him, but...well, that was what worked right now. At least until the medication wore off.
The driver stopped at the house, and let them out. Heero got out first, and then let Duo out.
Duo was in a mild mood, though his face was puffy from his tears. The tears still randomly flowed out of his eyes, but his body wasn't wracked with sobs anymore. This was a relief, as, despite his stoicism, Heero had a hard time watching those he cared about being miserable. The long haired one nodded to the driver, and went up to the house. Heero followed.
"...I'm going to take a shower, Heero." Duo said softly, as they got in the door.
"...Alright." Heero said, as he put his gun back in the holster. His ears perked up, though, because this could be a bad sign. He watched as Duo grasped his hair, and took the tie out, before running a hand through it, and untangling the braid. It was odd how...vulnerable he looked with his hair down like that.
Heero let out a breath, and made like he was going to sit down on the couch, and watch some TV. He even turned it on, until he heard Duo go into the bathroom and turn the water on. The shower started.
He stood up, and silently moved near the door, pressing his ear against it. He heard water, and...sobbing. Again? He listened closer, as he heard the sobbing this time. Pained, heart-breaking sobbing, barely masked by the shower sounds. He swallowed hard, and opened the door, before taking his clothing off, and laying them next to Duo's. He could still hear crying, as he stepped into the shower behind him. The look of him drenched made his throat catch, as he slowly snaked his arms around Duo's middle.
"H...Heero?" Duo shakily asked. He was too tired to even do anything, it seemed.
"Hn." Heero gently pulled Duo closer, and rested his head on his shoulder, letting the water pelt both of them. Duo relaxed a little into his arms, as he let himself be held. He shuddered a bit more in his sobbing, but began to calm.
